Car wouldn't start so we called out the AA. A young lad called John came out within the hour and diagnosed the problem virtually immediately. We were on our way within 30 minutes. Polite man who obviously knew what he was doing .

AA arrived within the hour. John Nicholson - Wray our AA man was excellent, very efficient, informative and helpful in fact a credit to his organisation. Cannot fault our recovery - don't mess around with the competition! Have been an AA member all my driving life and will continue to be.

Sad day for customer service
The customer service team lack relevant knowledge and cannot provide the correct information. Very unpleasant trying to speak to someone who can give the proper information. When I did manage to speak to someone who corrected the first incorrect information given, she was quite rude although I was polite over the phone with her She didn't go into detail with the t&c's she just basically said NO. It's not right and it's just sad

The AA: Fast, Friendly, and Legally Best Not to Ask Questions
I broke down on the M4 at 2am with smoke coming from the bonnet, a flat phone battery, and what experts would technically describe as “a deceased gentleman” sitting upright in the back seat wearing sunglasses.
Naturally, I called The AA.
Now I’ll say this immediately: phenomenal response time. The patrol van arrived so quickly I barely had time to Febreze the rear upholstery and explain to Nigel why he needed to “look natural.”
The AA man stepped out with the calm confidence of a bloke who’s seen things no human should see in motorway lay-bys. He asked:
“What seems to be the issue?”
I said:
“Engine trouble mainly… and a slight loss of life.”
He ignored the second part completely. Professionalism.
The mechanic — lovely chap named Darren — lifted the bonnet, sucked air through his teeth, and said:
“Yeah… your alternator’s gone.”
Which honestly felt insensitive given the passenger situation.
What impressed me most was the customer service. Darren kept trying to include Nigel in the conversation.
“Your mate alright back there?”
I said:
“He’s been quieter since Birmingham.”
Darren nodded like that made perfect sense.
At one point he asked me to turn the ignition while he listened to the engine. Unfortunately, I panicked and accidentally turned on the radio instead, which blasted out Stayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees directly into the silent corpse’s face.
I’ve never seen a roadside technician work while trying not to laugh before.
To his credit, Darren stayed focused. He diagnosed the issue, fitted a temporary fix, and very delicately avoided mentioning the fact my back-seat passenger had the complexion of an unplugged fridge freezer.
That’s tact. That’s British service.
Best moment of all:
As he handed me the paperwork, Darren leaned in and quietly said: “Probably best if you crack a window on the way home, mate.”
No judgement. No questions. Just solutions.
10/10 service.
Car ran beautifully afterwards.

Julian at the AA (Cambridge/Burwell area) was absolutely amazing - found the fault quickly and although it wasn’t fixable at the roadside told me exactly what to do and taught me a lot. Swapped the sensor as advised and that fixed all the issues :)

Excellent service. It would be preferable to speak to a person rather than a chatbot, but it was a busy time, and when I asked if a battery could be supplied for my car, an appointment was made the same day, the mechanic turned up as arranged, tested the battery (which had failed a few days earlier and been started again) and found that it was in working order despite the low reading on my trickle charger. A commercial garage may have sold me a new battery so I appreciated the saving and advice. I have been recommending the AA to everyone I speak to. I have been a member since 1958.

I was kept well informed when the AA assistance would arrive. I was phoned ahead of time and I didn't need to wait long. The problem was identified quickly. Callum was helpful, reassuring and explained the problem clearly. He fixed the gear cable attachment temporarily (which he warned) and it was successful. We were able to get the car to our local garage where it will be sorted. Very grateful.

AA motorcycle breakdown recovery!
The bike was recovered to my address within 2 hours of the breakdown- the patrol was helpful and personable and helped make the process bearable! only negative on the experience was as my phone is pay as you go and does not have internet access i had to wait to speak to a human agent to get the process underway! and this took nearly 25 minutes which is somewhat frustrating and not a great response time IMO ! however its done now so all good.
Very fast service in difficult traffic conditions.
We were on our way to Devon and got held up in horrendous traffic queue,when the vehicle overheated. Àlthough the car was alright upto then suspected engine cooling fan not engaging, which proved to be the problem. Was amazed how quickly Gary got to us due to the heavy traffic. A quick check of the system confirmed fuses and relay ok, suggested the fan control module possible cause. We decided then to return home. Gary topped up the system and everything was fine on the return journey as we had no hold ups. Vehicle going into local garage Monday. Very pleased with fast response and the help from Gary and the AA team.

What a great experience. Richard arrived in about an hour this bank holiday Sunday and was so friendly. He worked very hard to fix our car, and went above and beyond to assist us. We were so grateful to be rescued and would highly recommend this service. Richard is a ⭐

Although I had to wait several hours it was understandable due to work load.
Patrol guy was excellent and very friendly he diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes. A new battery was obtained by him locally and fitted. Problem solved.
