Stay away from these hustlers

Stay away from these hustlers.
They will definitely find something to charge you extra money.
They did not accept my debit card for deposit even though there was enough money in it to block 1000 euro for deposit, they didn't try to do it even though I said many times that there is more than 1000 euro to block as a deposit. But they made me buy their own insurance for 120 euros so that they blocked 100 euros with the same card that they claimed they can not use to block a deposit. I have rented cars many times and always paid the deposit with my debit card and never had an issue, they hustled me to sell their own insurance.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. Hired a car in Ljubljana, Slovenia. On returning the car 3 people came to inspect it with a fine tooth comb - they seemed determined to find damage. Sadly under bumper we had a scratch (not visible without looking underneath) so they will then send a large quote for you to pay and downtime for not being able to hire it out. In all my years of hiring cars I’ve never had such a heavy handed approach - I’d be happy to pay a reasonable sum but not the rip off prices they were quoting! Advice - always check trust pilot prior to renting. We booked last minute as my daughter has cancer and we wanted to get her away for a quick holiday before her 30th round of chemotherapy. Our experience of Slovenia and its people was lovely - only spoilt at the end by the tactics this firm used to make money - dishonest !

Scam company. Avoid at all cost!

We took photos and videos of a car before and after. There were no damage after rental period. They claim that there are 3 scratches and won't refund deposit over £800 even though we have a proof that there were bo new scratches after we gave the car back. Scam company avoid at all cost.

Carwiz Antalya

I rent cars fairly often.
I had to call the company to be picked up from the airport, which was inconvenient. Following that the experience was perfect. The car provided was practically brand new. And the exact model advertised- renault clio. The next day some warning messages showed up on the dash and we returned the car which they tried to fix straight away and after not being able to do it - they changed it to a different one. After 9 days on return, I had no issues despite not purchasing the additional insurance ( which I was strongly encouraged to buy, but as it is quite often in such cases it was very overpriced.I had my excess covered when I booked the car online)Everyone spoken good English and there were no communications issues

Worst car rental experience in 20 years…

Worst car rental experience in 20 years of hiring cars across Europe!

Arriving at the airport was confusing and difficult - it said on the rental voucher that we would be: "MET AT INFO DESK WITH HAND HELD SIGN, INCL FLT INFO"

There was no one there so on the advice of other car rental companies in the airport we rang carwiz and they said they would send details of how to catch the shuttle bus to my mobile phone. They never sent through the details so we had to call another two times before the correct details were finally sent to us. The shuttle bus that came did not have the carwiz branding on it and took over 30 minutes to arrive even though the gentlemen on the phone advised it would be 10 minutes. As other customers for different rental companies had been waiting longer than us they pushed ahead to take the first lift which meant we had to wait another 15 minutes for the bus to return.

We had further difficulties picking up the vehicle with the car provided covered in scratches, around 14 listed, and the customer service representative being very pushy about the excess damage waiver in case of any damage.

When we returned the car the customer service representative who took the keys checked the car and agreed it was in line with the pre-rental arrangement and said he would complete the paperwork and email it through. We left quickly as we had to catch our flight but the customer service representative assured me that I would shortly receive the final agreement and confirmation that the deposit would be refunded.

A couple of hours later I received a damage notification email with 6 additional damages which relate to damage that was not on the car when I returned it and claim that I owed them over £600 to cover the damage. The evidence they provided includes an item with no photographic evidence while the photos of a number of other reported damages either show a miniscule mark which is barely visible or look more like a mark of dirt that requires cleaning.

Furthermore, the time of the updated contract and additional damage report was an hour after we dropped the car off and does not include my signature as it was subsequently completed when I was not present and relates to additional damage items that were not on the car when I returned it earlier.

Carwiz intially attempted to charge me over £3000 but this was declined by my credit card company, however they have now been able to take over £600 for the "damages" and continue to ignore my email complaints. Their customer service site replied with an initial response but ignored any follow up emails. I even contacted their CEO directly who responded quickly to my intial message with a different customer support address but any messages to them have been ignored. Subsequent messages to the CEO for assistance have been ignored.

Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere.

1 week in Albania = 1000 EUR + bad service

Awful experience at Tirana Airport.

Firstly, their website states they accept all credit cards. They do NOT, and charged me 250 EUR as they said they won't accept my Amex credit card. They were very unapologetic and the guy serving me started playing the victim saying it wasn't his fault rather than apologising and actually representing his company and saying it will be corrected.

Secondly, they charged me 700 EUR for 2 small scrapes at the end of the rental, including 40 EUR admin fee. The story they told is that they don't own the cars and they have to send them back to the Fiat factory for repair. They refused to let me take the car for repairs, or to take it to a local garage. They got the quote from Fiat themselves, the most expensive way possible to scam you. I'm pretty sure they won't send the car for repairs at all.

On top of this, they don't exist on google maps (only old closed location) and their GPS coordinates on their website are also wrong, so they were a nightmare to find.

Experience with Wizcar and Nikos

I had the most horrendous experience with Carwiz. This company is an absolute scam! They kept my deposit, falsely claiming that I caused damage to the car. The Sales Manager, Nikos, is the biggest fraud on the island. He aggressively pushes for additional insurance, and if you refuse, he treats you like dirt. Moreover, they falsely accuse you of pre-existing damages just to keep your deposit. On top of that, they don't provide the car class you book; instead, they give you a smaller, inferior vehicle. Avoid Carwiz at all costs if you want to save your money and sanity!

Previously used Carwiz in Modlin

Previously used Carwiz in Modlin, Warsaw and they were great.
So this year had no qualms trying them in Wroclaw.
Bloody hell.
Attitude from a start was a joke. Dismissive, almost aggressive, insisting that things I'd paid for and had proof of payment needed paying.
Car seats for kids, pre paid, but oh no, pay again or you're not getting them which would = stuck in Wroclaw and needing to get to Olsztyn with no car seats for a 4 year old and 18mth old. Sears provided were filthy and at the end of their serviceable life.
Then satnav,.same story, prepaid, refused to give it. They've actually disabled the cars standard in built satnav and entertainment system, so can't Bluetooth for music or from my phone. Again. Have to pay extra. Get given something which doesn't work. Wouldn't believe it wasn't working until shown. No replacement offered and refused to restore SD card to inbuilt system.
Car itself? Big rusting scrape on back wheel arch and door. Screen wash reservoir empty, car filthy inside and out. Drove ok but let's just say after this year I'm left wondering if last year was the freak occurrence.
Anyway I paid by credit card, they can fight them.

Update from 28/07/2024

Just received an email trying to claim 5200Zl for damage which I don't recall being there when I dropped the car off at 5am and despite having bought the Waiver insurance at tome of making the booking.
Oddly enough this happened after my review and an email complaint to head office.
Ah well, like I said, credit card company can argue with them

Update 5/9/2024

Now a fine.
What for? Who knows as there's no evidence. Well until I see the actual evidence of any fine having been issued they can whistle.

I rented my car for my stay at split…

I rented my car for my stay at split from Carwiz since they were among the cheapest and best rating shown on the booking site, Expedia. I get why the price was lower, but it could have turned out to be far more expensive than more stable companies like Sixt, Avis or Hertz which also already include some insurances in their prices.
Carwiz have a low initial price and when you get to the desk they will try convince you to pay for the extra insurance which is very pricy itself. I had my own insurance coverage through my Amex card so it was unnecessary to add theirs. Therefore I got away cheap after returning the car without any scratches. But be aware, for your own good you have to take photos of the car at the e pick up location so that you can make sure you can respond to any possible accusations from the firm once you return it. For me they tried to charge me for a scratch I had not made but I was given the chance to reply with any picture as evidence indicating that the scratch already was there at the pick up date. Luckily I had taken pictures so they withdrew their accusation and the rental period was closed “normally”.
I know they did not inform me about the rental premises and that I should take pictures of the car initially as proof for any later accusations but it also makes sense that one should for your own best. But be careful you never now how picky a car rent provider can be. These once are pretty picky, their business idea is to stay cheap but then for small tiny issues you should be prepared to be charged unless you have paid for their really pricy extra insurance.

I would only recommend them if you have your own good insurance covering the rent from them, but then you will have to put in some own effort also to use as any evidence when they later will accuse you.

Otherwise I would not recommend renting by them.

Do not give them your money for car…

Do not give them your money for car hire they’re robbing ******

hope this message finds you well!

Regarding the charges from 10-06, (€60.22) belongs to your car rental, and (€206.50) belongs to the Optional CDW insurance (Collision Damage Waiver), this insurance helps reducing the deposit amount that you have to pre-authorize before making your rental effective, it is not refundable since you already used to be covered while driving the rented vehicle in Malta.

I have not had an accident and was advised this was refundable.
What the hell

Thanks for your valuable time.

Not recomended!!!!

Paros July 2024
Booked online from Carjet a Fiat Panda in Paros with full insurance. The agency he was referring to was Wizcar, we pre-arranged the pick-up for 8.30 in the morning at the port, where one of their representatives would be waiting for us with a sign indicating the name of Wizcar car rental.
We show up 15 minutes early but after two and a half hours of waiting under the scorching sun, no one shows up. We ask all the other car rental companies in the area but no one seems to know the agency.
We called the numbers indicated by Carjet on the booking sheet in vain, but initially no one answered, then we were told by the call center that the Wizcar representative would arrive at the port in 10/15 minutes.
But no one shows up, of course.
We call back and they hang up the phone.
After another hour of waiting, fortunately we were shown an office, not Wizcar as indicated in the booking email, but Karent.
We show up at the office and point out this disservice and shameful delay, especially because they should come and pick us up at the port.
They tell us that they tried to call our number, but they didn't dial the area code, so they weren't even able to contact us (is this true?!).
We lost the whole morning (which we could have spent on the beach) and the hotel breakfast included in our stay, as the time had already ended.
We received the car in reserve and they requested it in the same condition, not knowing the exact capacity of the tank, we filled it up, returned it to them practically still with a full tank, but they didn't give us anything back.
Both CarJet, Wizcar and Karent are to be absolutely avoided

FRAUD!! CarWiz SCAM!!!

FRAUD!!! BEWARE!!! This company makes money by ripping people off. After returning the car we received a call few hours later that a scratch was found underneath the car (we had photos of all visible scratches that excised before the rental). We were asked to pay over $300 dollars to cover the tiny scratch (2mm long). I am reporting this firm to the Consumer's Bureau and will make the best effort to inform potential consumers about this firm.

*** SCAM ALERT!!! ***

We rented a car in Zagreb downtown. We inspected the car and took photos and videos of the car with the Carwiz employee. He did not encourage us to check under the car for scratches or damages. We returned the car after 4 days. Straight away, he found scratches on the bumper underneath the car. He asked if we bought insurance. We said we had through booking.com. He said we would need to pay €900 for tiny scratches under the car that no one will ever see. We argued and he lowered it to €680. This is clearly a scam to recoup money they have lost to booking.com and other agencies offering insurance. They make a killing running this scam because they charge customers €680-800 every time that car is rented and the customer doesn’t get on their hands and knees to check for scratches. They won’t ever get the car repaired because then the scam is over or they’ll need to scratch it again.

This company should be shut down.

Definitely a fraudulent company

Definitely a fraudulent company

They charge you for non-existent damage when you don't take their full comprehensive insurance, despite the fact I provided extensive evidence that we left the car in immaculate condition. (about 20 pictures!)

The business model is just to have lower prices and then hit you with bogus fees.

So unless you take their cover, don't use them as they will try to scam you. Even their CS team has not helped and continue to dismiss any claim of us despite having all proof in my side.

I am disputing this with the bank as fraud and report the company to Urzad Ochrony Konsumentow.
