AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Absolute disgrace. Attitude of staff on collection was flippant and not very helpful. On return it was even worse. The person who should have been on the desk was behind the office chatting to someone from the next desk. After waiting 5 minutes I managd to get his attention and he just waved for me to leave the keys and go. I asked for an inspection of the car to be conducted and he refused saying he would do it later. I was then sent damage reports where the photos were of existing damage plus a amrk about 1mm on the boonet described as a scratch requiring 150 euros to repair. The amount quoted for other damage repair was also ludicrous. I immediately challenged this and supplied photographs. I asked for the case to be reviewed before any charge was made to my credit card. My email was completely ignored and I have NEVER received a reply of any kind. My credit card was also charged the ridiculous repair amount. I then had to raise this with the credit card company who immediately refunded me the charge. Neither myself nor them have ever recived any form of acknowmledgment or apology. Clearly a company who, at best, is sloppy and inefficient and couldn't care less about their customers and, at worst, is acting in a deliberately fraudulent manner attempting to rip people off. Needless to say I will NEVER be using CARWIZ again and I recommend no-one else should either.
Robbing your money
What they did to me and my wife in Romania, they seem to be doing all over the world. Please read the reviews and don't book with Carwiz. If you have already booked and they have scammed you as well, please double check if you have legal support. This company should be taken out of business.
Avoid at all costs. Should be renamed CARSWIZ!
Paperwork said we will be picked up from the airport, this did not happen and we had to call a number and someone came to pick us up in a van and took us to a car rental outside the airport perimeter near to the BP garage at Katowice airport. They didn’t speak very good English so signing the paperwork was difficult to say the least. I was asked to pay the balance for the rental by debit card but had to pay 1200 PLN holding deposit in case of accident by credit card.
The paperwork was signed and I was given the key and told that the paperwork would be emailed to me. The gentleman did not show us around the car or how to work it we just had to work it out for ourselves.
I was extremely careful with the car although it was already full of dents and scratches and my son in law took pictures of before we left the airport of everything.
Before we left I asked the gentleman where I had to drop the car back off as we were leaving at 3am and he said to return the car to the BP garage and they would sort out our transfer back to the airport.
Other than the first couple of days at a hotel, the car was kept in an underground secure car park, or at my daughter in laws parents house so no damage could’ve been done.
We returned the car at 3am, 8 days later, complete with a full tank of fuel as requested, but when I asked at the BP garage, they said it was nothing to do with them and pointed to look for someone behind the garage. Eventually we found someone and he took the keys off me and transferred us back to the airport (Again speaking very little English).
When we returned to the UK I received an email from CarWiz stating that there were 3 extra scratches on the vehicle that were not there when we picked the vehicle up. They sent photos along with the mail and they also said that I would have to pay an excess dirty car fee too! This amounted to 176,75 PLN for the excess dirty free (approx £35.35) which I was never told about when I picked the car up, I was only told that I needed to ensure that the fuel level was the same, and then 3261 PLN for the damage (approx £652.20). In the email I received I was informed that I could contact customer service if I had any problems with their email. I responded with all the photos that my son in law took, which included photos of the scratches that they said weren’t there when I picked the vehicle up and I asked the lady to get back to me. It is now 7 days later and I haven’t heard back from them but they have taken £690.28 plus a £20.64 non sterling handling fee on my credit card. I’m absolutely furious 😡
I sent their email to my daughter in laws Polish parents and they think that because I dropped the car back in the night, the company are taking advantage of the fact that we were not there to contest any of their findings in person and they are just scamming us.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY RENTAL . This experience has certainly put me off renting any vehicles in the future and also put me off visiting Poland again 😢. It should’ve been a joyous occasion for my sons wedding, but it has turned out to be a bad experience and one that has cost me almost £700!!!!!
We hired a car for our friends wedding…
We hired a car for our friends wedding in Katowice in August
They did not pick us up from the airport !
We had to call them
Then they persuaded us to buy extra cover or we would go to jail if any damage
The guy said no to credit card , wanted my debit card
The car was returned after our 5 day trip and the man said
All good
Deposit back tomorrow
It’s been 9 days and NO deposit returned
I’ve emailed 6 times and no one has bothered to get in touch
DO NOT GET CONNED LIKE US AND OUR FRIENDS HAVE
I advise you not to use Carwiz
I advise you not to use Carwiz - their customer service is worse than terrible! We were forced to pay for tyre damage from our own pocket (despite full insurance purchased with the company!) as they claimed that they cannot provide service in the location we were, promising to return the money after returning the car. More that a month has passed, and they are not replying to e-mails, phone numbers that we were given as customer service are not working, and while calling numbers available on the website we were bluntly told to get in touch with customer service (ha ha). To sum up - if you enjoy being ignored and don't mind waiting for your money for an indefinite time, they are just for you.
AVOID - YOU WILL NEVER SEE YOUR DEPOSIT AGAIN
The individual member of staff we dealt with at Ljubljana airport was lovely, however Carwiz's policies are predatory to say the least. We paid extra on top of the car rental for the full insurance package, and saw no information about the deposit required, so we expected it to be similar to that of other European countries. However, when we went to collect the car, we were informed that a 1,200 euro deposit was required from a credit card. When we refused this, we were told we could pay a 250 euros deposit if we paid for an additional insurance policy which cost 200 euros. When we queried why we were being asked to pay for insurance, when we had already paid extra for full insurance, we were told the full insurance is not with Carwiz, while the additional 200 euros they were asking for was for their own insurance. To cut a long story short, we returned the car five weeks ago, and have yet to receive our deposit back. After several unanswered emails, two weeks ago we received an email from Carwiz stating they had instructed their bank to release our deposit, but this has not happened. Carwiz is essential a scam, and should be avoided at all costs.
SCAMERS!!!!!
SCAMERS!!!!!! DONT RENT CAR FROM THEM THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY FOR DAMAGE YOU DIDIN DO.......STAY AWAY ....
Carwiz in Cracow
Carwiz in Cracow - Avoid at all costs!
The company's business practices raise concerns regarding transparency and customer service. Upon renting a vehicle in Cracow, we encountered several issues. Despite initial promises, no representative was present at the airport upon our arrival. Consequently, we were required to take a minibus with our children and luggage to the vehicle's location. The vehicle inspection was conducted at night, necessitating the use of a flashlight due to inadequate lighting.
Despite purchasing insurance for peace of mind, we received an email after returning the vehicle, containing photographs of alleged damages. These included minor dirt marks, barely visible scratches, and unclear images that made it difficult to ascertain if they belonged to the same vehicle. It appears that the company exploits such minute details to generate revenue from unsuspecting customers.
Based on this experience, we cannot recommend Carwiz as a reliable or trustworthy car rental service. We advise against choosing them in favour of more reputable and established companies. While the initial cost may be lower, the potential for subsequent headaches and disputes outweighs any perceived savings.
Regrettably, we must now file an insurance claim, which Carwiz informed us is handled by a third party, requiring us to manage the process independently. This adds to the inconvenience and frustration caused by their poor customer service and questionable business practices. AVOID!!!
EXCELLENT
We hired a Fiat Tipo for almost two weeks. We received a good car from car wiz, the service was excellent from two very nice people. Returning the car was quick which didn’t delay our onward journey to the airport. Good price on top., no queues Will use again.
Thanks
I wish I had read other reviews before…
I wish I had read other reviews before using this scam of a company.
PREMIUM RENT ROMANIA also known as CARWIZ, will try to scam you out of your deposit or try and charge you for damage that was already there.
Earlier today I returned the car and Justin checked the car for damage. He showed me that there were very tiny circular damages on the bonnet of the car, and scratches on the sides of the front and rear left doors.
He asked if I had insurance and I told him I have private insurance. I then showed him the video that I made when receiving the car and proved to him that the damage already existed when I received the car.
Despite this, he said that I had to pay for the damage and then claim it back from my insurance company. I refused because the damage existed previously. He said if I did not sign the documents and pay for the damage, he would not give me the documents to claim back from my insurance, and that he would simply take the €3000 deposit.
He forced me under duress to sign documents and to pay for damage that already existed and was not caused by me.
In addition, there is also no company name or identifying information of the supplier/trader on the invoice which is not legal according to Romanian invoicing requirements.
Awful pushy agents
Arrived at Zagreb airport to collect car booked through Discover Cars. Agent scared us into buying additional insurance cover we didn’t need, stating the need to involve police for even the most minor of scratches. Paid an extra €300 that we didn’t need. Also lied saying petrol is hard to find in Dubrovnik in an attempt to make us buy a pass to give the car back empty. Yet another scam. Petrol was easy to find.
Avoid CarWiz in Dalyan
Rented a car from Dalyan airport in July. Pre-paid through an online comparison site including full cover insurance.
When we arrived the driver was supposed to pick us up but was not there, so we had to phone and wait for nearly half an hour before they arrived.
When he took us to the office they told us that the insurance we had purchased was not valid as it was through a third party site and wanted us to pay an additional £180 (the weeks car rental and insurance that we had already paid only came to £140.)
When we took the car back there were no problems and we handed the keys over and he inspected the car. Now, over a month on from our return and we still have not received the deposit back. The T's and C's state that it should be returned within 15 days. I have tried to contact them and not had any luck getting any reply. I am currently going through my credit card company to try and claim back the money.
Avoid this company, they were difficult to deal with, rude, and have now stolen our money as well.
VERY VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
I booked a car with this company. Wanted to add a Car seat for my child. I did change the booking a few times as the car kept on getting cheaper and had free cancellations. I had contacted them a number of times in order to get this added and after about 8 emails I gave up and booked with another company who were more expensive. Very Very Poor customer service. Not too confident reading other reviews and my experience that the rest of the process would have went well.
Beware - white gloves robbers
Car hire in Poland - Warsaw Modlin WMI airport.
Everything booked online via stressfreecarrental.com
Car + full insurance (SCDW). At the pick up I was told that SCDW is not accepted by company and I need to buy directly from them ( at the desk). I refused. But have to pay FULL deposit on my credit card =£1000 instead of £0 as it was covered by SCDW.
No staff present at the inspection of the car before opening it and driving off.
PLEASE record it with your phone before opening the door.
On return - miraculously some NEW damage appeared. Thank GOD - I've recorded state of the car before handing out the keys !
Damage - 2mm scratch in the middle of drivers door. Cost charged = £300. Could be fixed with a pencil or dab of a paint. Problem is - previous damages present on the car were NOT fixed and I think that is CARWIZ common practice to ripping off customers.
Don't rent from Carwiz in Jamaica
I rented a van with Carwiz in Montego Bay, Jamaica through Priceline. It took 1 hour for them to pick us up and that's only after a local man called them through their local number. They didn't even apologize. Then they said I would have to pay additional insurance for $20/day even though my credit card covers it. When I refused, the man told me that if I wish he will cancel the reservation, which I did. And by the way, there was another tourist there before me complaining that Carwiz is dishonest.
Would not recommend renting here
Would not recommend renting here, at least not through a third party. They allowed us to book the rental through a third party then when we came to pick up the car, they said they would not honor the insurance purchased with the booking and that we had to purchase their insurance. We tried to understand the situation and staff was rude which escalated the issue, stating we could walk away and they would keep our money.
AVOID
AVOID - our flight was delayed by less than 1 hour and they cancelled my booking at Modlin Poland between the time we landed and cleared passport. We tried phoning before leaving Dublin but no answer. They had our flight ref. They could clearly see we landed when they cancelled. No one available on phone or desk when we cleared passport control. Terrible support since then trying to get a refund. Booked thru Booking.com - only a partial refund from them. Avoid at all costs.
Avoid Carwiz at all costs!
Didn't pick us up at airport as promised. Claimed our credit cards didn't work. Refused to cancel booking, so we were forced to buy their extremely expensive insurance when we already had our own insurance. Have not repaid the deposit they took, despite certifying car returned in good condition. Avoid this company.
AVOID!
AVOID!
We hired a car through Do You Italy which linked us to Carwiz at Milan Bergamo airport. The booking form stated the office is open until 8pm. We had a car booked for 5pm but our flight was delayed so we didn't arrive until 6.30pm. When we phoned Carwiz to come and get us there was no answer. We managed to phone Do You Italy who advised that Carwiz closed at 6pm!! At 5pm when we didn't arrive, the car was given away! We had modified our booking to 6.30pm once we knew of the delay and had supplied our flight number. This is a car hire company AT AN AIRPORT!!!! They must deal with delayed flights numerous times a day. They also need to stay open to 8pm when that's what you tell your customers! We have still not received a refund of our first payment which had been made online.
AVOID
AVOID! Tried to rent a car in Split and they messed up my entire holiday! After I’ve been told my card can not be accepted instead of providing me with a solution the staff were arguing and tried to add on a number of extra costs for which I already paid! Online check in is also for no reason as they took forever, I have also provided them upfront with my bank card details, drivers license, ID in the online check in. It ended up that they cancelled my booking and I didn’t get any refund! The fact that I used the same card for car rental in Croatia/EU and world wide in the last 5 years it’s showing something isn’t right. I will be reporting them to the European Commission for fraud as they are clearly breaking EU consumer rights! Absolutely disgraceful!
