An actual scam

I reported my breakdown at 11.20 in the morning and they said that they would be with me at 1.20. They kept moving the time back until they said that they would be coming to me at 2am. Obviously I couldn't stay up that late so I had to cancel and call again in the morning. The mechanic came out to see me and was very condescending, asked to speak to my parents and didn't explain anything very well to me. I am an adult and, although I am still quite young, I am the vehicle owner, I pay for the breakdown cover and insurance so he should speak to me about the problem with my car. He was vague about the issue and pushed me into booking for a person to come out and see me on Sunday to fix my car. He lead me to believe that this would completely fix my car.
On sunday, the man showed up and worked on my car and then came to tell me that the full service was done. I did not book a full service nor did I want one doing. He told me that he fixed half of the oil leak, but the other half would have to go to a garage to be fixed. This is also something that the first person left out.
I was charged £160 for a service on my car that I didnt want, only to find out that my car isn't even fixed.
I called my local garage to see if they could fit me in to get it fixed, and found that the work done during the service wasn't even needed since, in order to fix the oil leak the entire component would have to be replaced.
I feel that I have been scammed out of money and discriminated against since I am a young woman who was anxious to get my car fixed. I am cancelling with the RAC and moving to the AA, this entire experience has been ridiculous.

On 11/09/26 I had booked a full service…

On 11/09/26 I had booked a full service to be carried out at my home. Slight lack of comunication and the email/text said we will contact you on 10/9/26 and advise ETA the next day. This did not happen and I had to sit at home most of the day awaiting mechanic. When he did arrive the service seems to have been carried out satisfactly (paid £243.20) and in the report he said I had an offside dipped beam headlight was not working. I asked if he could fix it and I was willing to pay extra to get it done but he said he could not.
The next day I was inundated with texts and emails advising their additional services so I completed an enquiry form for replacement of bulb and submitted it on line. No response so on Monday 14/9/26 I phoned contact number and when answered (10-15 Mins later) I asked about their mobile mechanic service and explained about circumstances (service etc). I was then given a quote to replace one headlight bulb at my home £180.65 !!!!
Needless to say I declined but have now had further emails and texts asking me to book a slot for the work to be done.
I asked if the fact that I am also an RAC breakdown member would make any difference and was told that I might get a 20% discount.
In conclusion I am going to a local garage for them to fit a £10'ish bulb at a low cost and wish I had booked car in for service with garage in the first place.
Very poor support from what I thought was a good company.

Convenient to be home working & have my car serviced on my drive way!
No all day waiting required for a garage to call when finished.
Mechanic James Lowther even remembered me from a year ago when he last did the service on the same car. Personal customer recognition.
