Love this new card
Love this new card.
I used this in Majorca, not an issue, accepted everywhere I used it. Loved the contact less feature on this. My original card I had lost, and as promised this was replaced with in the agreed time. I also used it in Lapland and again not a problem with the acceptance of this.

Purchased this card for a holiday to USA. The app was downloaded and a quick call made to customer services to check all activated. Worked brilliantly and balance was updated very quickly on the app once any purchases were made. There was quite a lot of dollars left on card once returned from Vegas. I moved the money from the dollar pot into the sterling pot on the app and was offered a very fair rate of exchange. The card is now set up in British pounds so will continue to use back in England. I highly recommended this card and will use again.

First time I have used a card like this, and all I can say it is brilliant. Used it all over Cyprus and within 3 minutes of any transaction my balance were already updated. After reading the negative comments I found that once I purchased my card and did my security questions I then rang the card supplier to confirm my card was active and also my security questions had been put on the system. This is a confirmation that the card is (a) active and (b)it confirmed you are the owner. As far as I am concerned it is a fabulous card to have.

Good idea Poor execution
Good idea Poor execution.
Not only are the people in the shop inept at signing you up to it, taking 3 of them 30 minutes and an extra 10 minutes as they got my details wrong.... red flags should have alarmed there!
When I go to top up, they tell me I can’t as the addresses don’t match the billing address.... basically they couldn’t choose a flat number so they didn’t put it in and now I’m paying the price.
Customer service on the phone hung up on me twice.... didn’t phone me back.
Absolutely terrible, stay clear firstly as the staff in shop haven’t a scooby doo (Cardiff...) secondly customer service is the worst. Like that episode of South Park.
Thanks for wasting my time...

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CARD!! It's not worthy of 1 star... We were sold Lyk Card at the Thomas Cook Store in King's Lynn when we booked our (6 days/7 nights) Holiday in Spain, They highly recommended the card, said it is easy to use and has a 24 hour Customer Call Service if needed and it's the best way to keep your "Holiday Money Safe" (it did that right enough). On the 2nd day of our Holiday the Card PIN Number would Not Work, But the Contact-less and the Swipe still worked, However on the 3rd day the Card "STOPPED WORKING" altogether which was really Very Very Humiliating Embarrassing and Stressful when we tried to pay for anything. Yes there is a Customer Call Service when you can eventually get through to talk to someone, after spending a whole afternoon and evening of day 2 on countless attempts telephoning and kept getting cut off before getting through the automated system, then getting through to a person only to be told they can NOT see a problem with My Card from thier end and to put the Card in ATM machine to re-activate it which did Not Work. The same again on day 3, being put on hold and having to phone them back as cut off yet again and again, then I'm told there IS A PROBLEM with the Card. By this time in total a day of our Holiday was wasted contacting Lyk Customer Services and only 3 days left of the Holiday with not enough time to get another Card etc etc. We ended up having to Borrow Money from Friends we were with for Food/Drink etc as we were Not All Inclusive and We could NOT buy any souviners. When we got home I went to Thomas Cook told them all that happend and told them I wanted to cancel the Card/Close Account, they charged £40 exchange to give me My Money back and said I had to contact Lyk to cancel/close account. I rang Lyk said I wanted to Cancel Card/Close Account and why going through the whole happening of events again, to be told they would give me £30 back towards the exchange cost as my account had now been closed whilest I was on the phone talking to them (I have recieved the £30). This was the 1st and LAST time, I WILL NEVER USE THIS CARD OR ANY OTHER CARD LIKE IT EVER AGAIN, I will stick to what I've always done in future. BUT I have to say they were right about the Lyk Card keeping my "Holiday Money Safe" it did that right enough...

One word CRAP NOT EVEN WORTH 1 STAR
One word CRAP NOT EVEN WORTH 1 STAR. I was sold this card at the Thomas Cook Store in Talke Stoke on Trent. I loaded it with £50 and had to pay a £3 joining fee. The next day I did as it said and revealed my pin on the accompanying letter, but it kept saying wrong pin. I then tried logging onto their web site. There it gave me another pin. So I went to my local Cash point machine and hey ho the pin I was given on their site was WRONG. I came back home and rang their help line which is the Philippines, but it was a free call. There I was told that the pin that I had revealed on their letter did not correspond to the attached card and to continue to use the code given to me by their site. Once we had disconnected the call I tried logging in to their website again, 3 times I tried and each time it said error and I couldn't get in. Again I rang their help line and again they said there was no problem with the website and keep trying. On the 4th attempt and error message I rang their helpline again, This time the guy said try deleting your history and try again. While still connected to him I tried and hey ho it worked. I then logged out and ended the call. I then tried again and yes you got it, it just said error. Once again I had to ring their website and was connected to a female, who's name was Rosaline and despite saying sorry at least 40 times, just the same as all the previous operators, she failed to get me into the site. I said right enough is enough and asked to speak to a supervisor, She went off the line for about 2 minutes came back on and said the supervisor would ring me back in an hour that would have been 20-30pm UK time, you guessed it nothing. Due to this I went to a card machine and tried to get my £50 back, only for it to be denied saying there was insufficient funds in the account despite it showing my balance was £50. Frustrated and very annoyed I came back home and rang there helpline number, by this time I knew it off by heart. The girl said we did try to contact you but the number was wrong, I asked her to confirm my number and YES that was correct. I told her I wanted my money back and she told me I would have to go to the TC Shop I have purchased from, but I may have to pay a fee to get my money back, what the hell is this card all about. Tomorrow, Sunday the 30th September 2018 I will go to the TC Shop so wait for further comments. DON'T TAKE OUT THIS CARD BE WARNED ITS CRAP

So much negativity yet I've had ZERO issues !
Day before Travel I went into my local Thomas Cook and ordered the LYK card which I preloaded £200 at the point of sale for a 5 day trip to France (Euros)
The next day I took the train to London and tested the LYK card on the tube, used it contactless and ping.. worked !
Used it in supermarkets shops cafes and restaurants and no problems.
Today I've swapped over my remaining Euros to Pounds via the LYK app in seconds ! so now I can use the card for shopping here too.
I can safely say the LYK card is perfect if you don't want to carry physical cash around with you.
Maybe the complainers should just ensure the card is topped up well in advance next time, the negative reviews really aren't justified if you're sensible !

What the actual hell is this thing good…
What the actual hell is this thing good for? I can't register online, constant error messages on multiple PC's, can't log into the account at all because of more error messages. Some places in Portugal wouldn't take the card at all and no one will answer the phone number..... what?

Love my Lyk card
I have had absolutely no problem at all with the Lyk card, or previously the Passport. Admittedly I go into the Thomas Cook branch and purchase my currency on the card before I travel, but after all these reviews I decided to transfer via my bank. And it arrived in the account the same day. Strangely enough though my bank still shows it as a pending transaction.
I don't like wandering around with a lot of cash at home, let alone when I am overseas. I feel so much safer knowing I only need a small amount of cash and this card. I have used it all over Europe with absolutely no problem at all.

Lucky to even have one star
Lucky to even have one star.
First time using it wouldn't let me top up money into my account whilst I was abroad leaving me to have to take money out of my own bank account (England one).
Then I've come abroad with it the second time and it has played up again. I went to withdraw cash from a machine and the machine couldn't process my money and said the card couldn't work in the machine. Looked on my account and I have been charged even though I didn't get any money. The ATM machine won't take responsibility and said I have to call the bank. Call Thomas cook lyk team to be told that I have to wait for the money to come out of my account. Then I have to wait another 48 hours to have a claim back of money and I may or may not receive. This has left me with limoted money for the rest of my trip and they didn't even care.

I love my Lyk card
I love my Lyk card. Very easy to use and the app is great. Able to top up my account when away and it is instant. Great to top up before my holiday and for my next holiday.
The only thing I would like to see having a joint card so my husband can use the same account otherwise brilliant.

Terrible
Terrible - I would urge anyone not to use these guys. Firstly told upon purchase it was it easily to load and would be instant. I went of holiday and transferred my money across and when it did not appear after 24 i got concerned and rang to find out it takes up to 5 working days (I would be home by that point), although frustrated I asked what else I could possibly do as didn’t have any other forms of payment. I was then told not to worry and if sent over a screen shoot of the confirmed payment it would be fast tracked into my account. After 24 hours of being on the phone to them to check whether or not they had received the email they confirmed they had received it but it wasn’t going to make any difference. When I complained to the advisor on the phone as to why her colleagues had given me that information she diddnt know and just kept repeating their payment terms (not helpful). I then asked her what I would need to have to money refunded and was no longer going to need their services she said that would be fine and I would need to ring back and I would be charged to get my money refunded. The is the worst customer services I have come across and will be refusing to use there service again.

Go elsewhere.
Go elsewhere.
I have used two currency cards in the past and this one is by far the worst.
Whilst on holiday the card stopped letting me withdrawal money (through a fault which they couldn't identify) and I had to get the cash transferred back to my own account, which resulted in a fee and an awful exchange rate.
Whilst the option of sending the money to a Western Union was given, this was no use as I was nearing the end of the trip.
Also, giving the card a second chance, I attempted to upload some more cash online facing more errors. Upon a phone call with one of the advisors I learned that apparently my address was different from the one given on my card (It's either not or a minuit difference where I've given the name of my suburb and city) and if I was to change this it'd take 7 days or I'd have to do so through my bank.
The lengthy processes of these options is absurd and I've never experienced any problems with other companies.

Working perfectly.
Got my card yesterday from Thomas Cook having put £50 on it and then read the reviews which were dreadful! Regardless I bought some Turkish Lira at a better rate than the Post Office was offering and was relieved to find the correct sum was displayed in my Lyk card account in the app. Next I went and made a small contactless purchase in the UK which went through fine and the balance on my account is correct. So at the moment everything is working as I would hope.
We are now in Turkey and my Card is working perfectly. No problems using it, I have also transferred money from my GBP account into my Lira account without any problems at all.

This is the first and last time I have used the Lyk Travel Card. Topped up while on holiday no problem, but came to use the ATM and had trouble - the ATM informed me there would be an additional charge for withdrawing my own money out. I declined the transaction and my card was returned. After checking my account the money had already been deducted from my balance. After a £50 phone call to report this and despite bring told I would get my money back within 7 days, I am still waiting. Terrible service, I just want my money back.

Nightmare in the end!
Nightmare in the end!! Topped up in UK and it worked great with no issues...until we wanted to top it up! Wouldn’t work, with 2 different debit cards or a bank transfer. Friends we were with couldn’t top up theirs either. Same issues. More than sufficient funds in accounts! Luckily we had credit cards with us however we’ve ended up having to pay fees on these which we didn’t plan for as we were planning on using lyk. Wish we had read the reviews before!!

Absolute rubbish !!!!!
Absolute rubbish !!!!!! Please don't bother. I had a duff transaction which didn't issue my money via an ATM. A good amount of money came off my Lyk card immediately. But no cash. I was unable to get out any more money as I had reached my daily limit. This made me very angry when it's my bloody money. I rang customer services who were less than helpful and said they would return the money ......... After 8 days pending an investigation. So I was a single mum, abroad with 2 kids unable to retrieve any money. Utterly disgusting. Not to mention pretty dangerous. I had only a small amount on another card as stupidly I thought I could rely on this crap. Ruined our holiday and I will never use this card again. Oh plus the amount of money they take alongside your transaction. Disgraceful.
