Expensive and does not do what it says

I have had the card for a few months now and still unable to set up the APP, put money on to test and made two withdrawals at ATM and charged £5 for the privilege of accessing my own money. Total rip off. Going to Mexico soon and not comfortable using this card. Pity it is advertised so well but hidden charges and access not working is not good

No money on my card!!

Unfortunately 1 star rating at the moment as I am unable to use my card in Florida. It seems the money I paid to transfer on to it didn’t get done properly in store in Nottingham. The money has come out of my bank account but is not on the lyk card! Very frustrating and embarrassing as it got declined in a store!

Stranded in Australia with no money!!!!!!!

I am currently travelling in Australia. I loaded all my money onto this Lyk card in Scotland. 3 weeks in I am stranded and unable to use my card for food fuel rent or anything else. I can’t even get money from the ATM. 4 calls into the customer service I am frustrated anxious and now feeling very unwell. I’ve had to borrow money to get by. Their response has been awful! Imagine leaving a 68 year old women in a foreign country with no money SHAME ON THEM. I have to go to a ATM at 9.30am they will phone me and “allow” me to take out 400 dollars of my own money to help me. They said they will send me new card in 7 to 10 days WHERE I’m meant to be travelling. Absolutely awful I’m alone and distressed and not sure what to do next. If I had known how bad this could I would never have taken out thus Thomas Cook card!!!!!!

From £50.00 to £10.00 lyk card commission leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

So I have just returned from break in Tenerife with the help of Thomas Cook good break no problems enjoyed it, But and yes there is a but for most thing in life, I loaded a Lyk card as advised and off I went spent some but not all. On returning to the UK I popped into Thomas Cook to change my currency back to pounds only to be informed that I would lose £50.00 on the exchange due to commission charges so I left . Having just gave a good review of the holiday service I received I decided to call the Staff member just to confirm that the information I received from the member of staff behind the counter was correct he then informs me that yes they do take commission when exchanging but (another but, but not as big as the first but) if I download the Lyk app on my phone and change the currency on my card using it then I would only loose £10.00 that`s a saving of £40.00 a little less if you take away the time wasted with telephone calls visits to the shop and writing this, if I had been told about this when i first made the transfer or when I called in to exchange my funds Thomas Cook would have made less profit in the short term but in the long term increased the trust a new customer and by default all the people he knows had in them, to book their next holiday with them.

definitely recommend !!!!

I loved this card. I used it for my summer holiday in Sorrento.
I brought the card from Thomas cook and set up the app so I could reload whilst I was away; this worked perfectly and I topped up a couple of times whilst I was out there.
I used the card in local Restaurants and shops and had no problem. I like the fact it is contact-less for small purchases.
I am going away again soon and will use again.

I really liked the card

I have used the card in Amsterdam and found it very easy and was accepted all over.
I opened the card at my local Thomas Cook store and it only took about 5 mins to set up. They even helped me set up the app on my phone.
I will use this for my holiday in turkey next.

Will definitely use again

A great card. I used this in Barcelona it was excepted everywhere. i used it just like my debit card (in the UK) but there was no charge and I knew exactly what was being taken from the account each time.
I downloaded the app so that I could track my balance which was helpful and I re-loaded the card via the app whilst I was abroad.
Will definitely be using this card on my next trip.

Absolutely loved it!

I wanted to put a review on here as I didn’t have any of the issues some others seem to have had.

We decided to play it safe and only put half of our currency onto the card and take the rest in Cash. (I wish I had put more on it now)

We travelled to the US and used the card everywhere we went. I registered it on Uber, Lyft, paid for food deliveries, shopping and used it both contactless and with the pin. Last year we visited the US Bank Stadium and they didn’t accept chip cards (seriously???) yet this was accepted without issue.

The balance is easy to view on the app and we used the app to top up too. Overall we loved this card. I rarely use cash at home as I prefer Apple Pay so this was a good option for us. We also had the advantage of not travelling home with so many leftover coins.

Fantastic travel money card!!

Fantastic and easy to use travel card. I was recommended LYK by my local Thomas Cook store to take my money abroad securely rather than carrying cash. The card was set up within 5 minutes and ready to use straight away! I used this card everywhere.... restaurants, shops & bars and had no issues. The contactless also worked perfectly. The LYK card app was a huge help as I was able to keep track of my spends as i was going along. Previous to having this LYK card i would have used my normal credit/debit card which came along with unwanted charges. I will now be sure to use this travel card on all my future holidays!! Highly recommend!!

Always had trouble with previous Thomas…

Always had trouble with previous Thomas Cook travel cards but was short on time so couldn’t get a better one before leaving the UK. This card is just the same. Nothing but trouble. Won’t let me top up with any currency so am currently stranded with no money in a foreign country. Also charges you for loading GBP which is rubbish as it doesn’t do Asian currencies so I have to load GBP! Absolutely awful would not recommend to anyone. Meant to be travelling for 7 months and 1 month in I am screwed with no money and no customer service replies. DO NOT GET THIS CARD PLAN AHEAD AND ORDER YOURSELF A REVOLUT WISH I HAD.

FANTASTIC USED MANY TIMES!

I have used this card in Majorca, Rhodes, Barcelona and Turkey.
Brilliant card and so easy to top up using the app.
Used this mainly with the pin and a few times contact-less in Majorca and Rhodes but used Contact-less everywhere in Barcelona. Don't think we even used any cash as was accepted everywhere even visiting a local cathedral. All of the bars and the restaurants accepted the card, although some did have a limit of 10 euros if you pay by card (same on any card ie. debit or credit).We just brought another round of drinks lol. We hadn't put enough on the card when in Barcelona so Topped up twice whilst we were out there on the app, quick and straight forward.
In turkey the contact-less limit was only 50 Turkish lire approx £1.20 so used it with the pin. no problems anywhere.
We are going to Turkey again this year and I will be taking my Lyk card with me as I don't want to be carrying all that cash around. I like the fact that I can cancel the card instantly on the app if I lose it and they will send the money out to me on holiday.

DONT BOTHER ITS CRAP

I had trouble with this card right from word go!! Wouldn't let me sign into my account and absolutely impossible to get through to customer services I only got the problem sorted with a few hours to go to my New York holiday. PLEASE IF YOU ARE GOING TO NEW YORK DO NOT USE THIS CARD ALL THE MAIN ATTENTIONS DO NOT ACCEPT IT LIKE WORLD TRADE CENTER OR TOP OF THE ROCK!!! You then have to get money out from a ATM then it takes 3 percent charges from you. A lot of restaurants also don't take this card your better off just taking your dollars with you. PLEASE DONT BOTHER WITH THIS CARD ITS CRAP!!!

I could not use the card properly

I could not use the card properly. IS NOT TRUE that you can use card everywhere! In Marrakesh and UK either! Can not top up,we left without money for days in Marrakesh.
The main office could not help,I had to phone them from Marraccesh to get help. Spent a lot of time and phone call charge to contact with them. DO NOT USE THIS CARD if you want a sressless holiday!

This worked like a dream for us

This worked like a dream for us.
We had read a lot of bad reviews and were somewhat apprehensive about this card. However, I made sure I could top up easily and did draw out of a cash point at home to make sure we could do that too.
We went to Mauritius with it and had dollars and euros on it transferred from our old Thomas Cook card. We had no problems at all. We used it to withdraw mauritian rupees from atms and to pay in supermarkets and restaurants. No conversion fees. I think people often post reviews when they're dissatisfied but don't when things are good.

Average

Have been using this card while studying abroad, it’s about as good as a card can be pretty average although the exchange rate is quite good. Really have issues with the area on the app under ‘pending transactions’ as this leads you to believe you have more money than you really do by holding charges in the pending transactions. Not the best when you’re a struggling student trying to budget and keep track of your money!

I put a large sum of money in Euros on…

I put a large sum of money in Euros on this card and was recommended by Thomas Cook. We went away but we didn't use any of the money. So when we returned we transferred it to sterling to draw the cash out of the ATM we drew £10 then put the card in again for £250 but of course you can only use it once a day the machine rejected it. Then when I looked on the account the £250 has been taken out of the account. I spoke to someone and they said not to worry it will be credited back in 7 days. We are now on day 8 and I rang again and they said it would be in the account. We are old age pensioners and need that £250.Never again will I be talked into taking such a product again. If the cash isn't there tomorrow I shall be paying a visit to the Thomas Cook branch. What worries me if this had happened while we were away we wouldn't have had any money to live on . visited Thomas Cook today and all my money has been refunded now.

What a joke this is could register …

What a joke this is couldnt register card then said they won't be able to register for 24 hours and if I want my money back in sterling would get everything back what I put on it not gone any where yet also had problems understanding what the call centre was saying and telling me to type a password in they no lol haha very safe NOT WHAT A JOKE DON'T BOTHER
