If you don't use your card for a while the take money from your account.

Careful when you go abroad.
Seems two give you 2 choices when taking out money.
Trouble was, the choices were not in English.

I obviously made the wrong choice as I was charged a very high commission fees and rate

Abysmal customer service. Difficult to get refund.

Been waiting over 4 months for my refund. I’ve made phone call after phone call and spoken to around 8 different people. Apparently one of the initial ones transferred the money to someone else’s account. I told them to listen to the phone call previously - I’d provided and checked the account numbers 3 times in the phone call - yet the money was supposedly sent to a different account!! At least 5 phone calls since then with all of them saying the same thing - that it would be transferred immediately, yet nothing! I finally was supposedly transferred to a manager who emailed to say they were looking into the mistake - NOT MINE - but am
still waiting 2 months on from that. It’s disgusting!

I made a transfer last year funds were not credited to my card but returned to the card account I transferred from. However, funds were not credited beck to that account either, so have been bouncing back and forth and lost somewhere in the system.
I'm still chasing now a year later, with both sides blaming each other.

Have been happy using the card in Europe. The email about the closure went into my spam box and I found it only by accident. May account for why others think they were not notified. Can't get into my account at the moment - My Lyk card was a replacement for the old Thomas Cook Euro Card so I assumed the account details and log on would remain the same but site is not letting me in and I have failed to make registration work! Fortunately I don't have much money on it. I will try the phone but most of these reviews don't give me much hope.!

I have tried several times to get through to customer service and guess what.......been left holding. This was no different before COVID-19. I was pleased with the service before Thomas Cook went bump. Reading other reviews I note that someone had difficulty cancelling his card, I will be reporting this to Martin Lewis should this be the case as it is not legal, you have the right to cancel at any time.

There is a time limit to receive a refund on any outstanding balance.

Life is too short to wait for my 2 Turkish lire to be refunded, it is the principal of the matter and mirrors customer service at its worse.

Apparent MasterCard lyk fraud

Received a letter from Lyk MasterCard, Thomas Cook money. I have the grand sum of £2 . 68 on this card and therefore cannot withdraw it from an ATM or the Bank (minimum £5). Tried the phone number provided on the letter, answered the questions and was told by a nice young lady that the answers were not correct, hmmm? I am still me, I still live at the same place with the same phone number and my Mum’s maiden name has not changed even after she died in 2009. The card was only ever used in one Spanish town so having been told my security answers were wrong I asked to speak to a supervisor; this lady spoke poorer english than the original but after saying the only way forward was for me to send a copy of my passport, plus the answers to my security questions and bank account details to pay in my £2. 68. I think this is a fraud in action do not get caught out!

lyk grief

On a trip to New Zealand we checked in to a Hotel in Auckland on the first day of a three week holiday for three nights, the hotel reception asked for a credit card to cover any expenses mini bar etc, ( a pre authorisation ) The booking itself was prepaid. The Hotel held $200 dollars till we checked out.
We checked out and went on our way the $200 dollars remains as pending on the balance so we could not access it, I phoned the hotel and they said that the transaction with them was cancelled and emailed me the transaction receipt and told me to contact Lyk. It took three attempts to contact Lyk support where I explained the situation and sent the emailed cancelation receipt as proof, all to no avail!! They said to phone back to UK to speak to them on a landline.
This I had to do from a hotel phone for security, I did this but that didn't work, they wanted a whole lot of details from the hotel in Auckland including a signed report from the hotel manager, it was just ridiculous, I sent this on to the hotel but got no response and I was not surprised. So the other outcome was to wait a month when the money would come out of pending and go back into my account.
I am now back home and will get the money back after the month is up in dollars which will need to be transferred back to sterling at charge of course. I will be closing the account and will not use Lyk again. A whole lot of grief for nothing, not what you want on your holiday! be warned!

Not easy to access.

Cant find a way to log in online, so I eventually went for topping up and got in that way just to find my balance. It was a great idea and worked well but the wheels have fallen off and its now too difficult to use. I will strip the money out and dump it.

Whatever you do DON'T get involved with…

Whatever you do DON'T get involved with one of these cards, you can never get out of it again.I have had a number of difficult telephone calls and emails informing them I want to cancel the card. They refunded the money in it, but just won't cancel the card.

Its important because they charge you for inactivity so you could potentially end up with a large bill if you don't get it cancelled. The website is useless and gives no information and the FAQ page simply does not work.

Thanks MasterCard

Never used the card, loaded with euros two weeks before Thomas Cook stopped trading. MasterCard refunded in sterling my euros at the current exchange rate so I am happy.I have now reinvested the money on a Revolut card, and received a similar number of euros as I traded in yesterday.

Absolutely completely useless service.

Absolutely completely useless service.
Unable to even take card number details without repeating at least 5 times. Forgot my name twice and then transferred me to another agent until I finally gave up! This is not the first time this has happened either. Trying desperately to get details of my balance online but seems to be too difficult a task for customer service at LYK

Had nothing but good things to say…

Had nothing but good things to say about this card - great rates, easy to use. Now, not so much.

Loaded up my card on the app last night with just short of £2000 for my next trip, exchanged into dollars. Then get the email this morning to say it's being discontinued and I need to spend the funds!! Trip isn't until late April so needed to cash out.

Apparently it's been confirmed a few days ago in the press that this was happening, so not sure why they're allowing people to add money on the app without notifying.... I lost £36 in transferring back to GBP, but at least I'll get the bulk of it back - in 3-5 working days of course.
