Greenlight is the first tool that's…

Greenlight is the first tool that's actually worked to help my daughter earn money and actually WANT to earn money. She likes having a card of her own because it makes her feel a little bit grown up in a way. A greenlight account was the most practical financial teaching tool for us because of the ease of transferring/paying her for the chores we give her. There's minimal back and forth between us past assigning chores. I love that I can just say "Hey I have these chores for you in greenlight" and so and so and as soon as she's done and I check it off she gets paid. I don't have to remember pay her allowance either because there's the option of a weekly automatic transfer. Also, it's easy to change these actions whenever. The only reason I give it a 4 star is because you have to pay for the debit card in addition to the membership fee. Also, the app could be little easier to navigate but it's not too bad. Great app overall and I recommend it to family and friends.

Shortened Billing Cycle

The billing date moves to shorten the cycle. I was initially charged on the 14th, then the 8th and finally on the 7th. Seems like deceitful business practices...

Improvements needed for households with multiple children

I have multiple children and wish I had the ability to change an added chore from one child to another. Instead I have to delete a chore and read it completely and assign it to a different child.

I also wish the up for grabs feature worked differently, where a chore would be up for grabs each day and once a child grabbed it for that day it could be open to a different child for the next day. Instead once a child grabs it it is assigned to them permanently and I have to delete it and not use the upper grabs option.

Functional but still needs some updates

I like the AI functionality on the hub and wish it was available on the app as well. Additionally I wish there was the ability to save recurring chores along with their applicable payout amounts or to set all payouts to automatically split between spending and savings. Overall it is functional and is helping us all manage schedules and tasks. My youngest loves the money management learning on the app!

If you attempt to cancel your Green…

If you attempt to cancel your Green Light account, they will pause your account but continue to withdraw the minimum amount indefinitely. To stop them from taking your money, you will need to close your bank account. This doesn’t seem like a good business plan if theft is part of their strategy!

I had such a great experience

I had such a great experience, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the service I received. Sophie was absolutely lovely from start to finish — incredibly helpful, attentive, patient and always quick to respond to all my questions and doubts.

She made the whole process of buying my car feel so much easier and was always there whenever I needed clarification or help with anything. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble for her, and she was always friendly, professional and reassuring.

A huge thank you to Sophie for making this experience so positive and stress-free. I really appreciate all your help and the amazing customer service. I would definitely recommend her! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This company was better in the past

This company was better in the past. I would use my checking account and the money for my kids would be available right away. They recently changed this and now it takes 3 to 5 days for the deposit to hit the account which is not good. They give you an option to use your debit card for instant deposit but the minimum is $20 which is not right

We are very concerned about a recent…

We are very concerned about a recent purchase our son made with his Greenlight Debit card at DSG (major sports retailer). He had the funds in his spending account and the transaction was successful and shows in his Greenlight account. However, the exact same transaction for the same amount, on the same date, from DSG has posted to our checking account. Keep in mind, I was standing there when the transaction took place and my debit card never left my wallet, so how does this happen? Greenlight’s “customer service” swears it’s not possible through their service but I’ve spoken with the store and my bank and we are all at a loss. The common denominator is Greenlight because that bank account is linked to the Greenlight account. How does that even happen?

SCAM

It was great until I tried to cancel my subscription. They made it IMPOSSIBLE.

The app says to call

You call the AI says use the app

You ask for a representative they leave you in a hellish hold loop

You email with all your account info they say they can’t help you, you have to call

You text their helpline they say they can’t help you.

This is so predatory! How is it not illegal?!

Do not start a subscription with these people! Scammers.

I’ve never in my life had to spend hours moving through intentional dead ends to cancel a simple subscription.

Easy sign up - impossible exit.

Absolutely horrible experience

Absolutely horrible experience. Added my debit card as a funding source because there were issues adding my bank account. I went to put $10 on my child's card and was told there's a $20 minimum deposit and I had to add a bank account if I wanted to add a smaller amount.
When I called customer service, it was an AI bot. When I finally got someone, they were difficult to understand and kept telling me to do what I had already done. After 20 minutes on the phone, they asked if I had another bank account I could use. I was so frustrated I canceled my account.

I was charged monthly Greenlight…

I was charged monthly Greenlight subscription fees for nearly a year even though I had essentially stopped using the service after my initial transfer.

What concerns me most is that I did not receive monthly billing receipts or clear monthly email notifications that these subscription charges were continuing. Because the service was not being used, I did not realize the charges were still being deducted.

After discovering the charges, I contacted Greenlight and explained the situation. They offered to refund only one month, despite the long period of inactivity, and I have not received a satisfactory response to my follow-up request.

I understand that subscriptions can continue until canceled, but customers should be clearly informed when recurring charges continue month after month, especially when there has been no meaningful account activity.

I am posting this so other parents know to carefully monitor their bank statements even if they are no longer actively using Greenlight.

Customer service is horrible

Customer service is horrible! I tried to close the account prior to free trail and was unable. They activated the account without approval/consebt and delayed closing the account. I could not close nor deactivate the account. I was told the account was being closed however they activated the account without my approval.

Shameful billing

Shameful billing, would not recommend. Took money from my bank account without authorization. Customer service stated they will take money from any funding source you have on file for their fees. So then what's the point of the auto funding options. Unethical
