Find An Emergency Vet
Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Good bits
- nice vet, my cat received good care
- nice reception area
- feliway sprayed towels were a fantastic addition
Bad bits
-waited nearly 2 hours to be seen, only 1 vet on duty and poor thing was hugely overstretched
- £324 for just the consultation, 5 times more than my usual vets consultation fee. Plus a £35 admin fee for a claim on my insurance. Pretty awful.

Kept me waiting. Charged extortionate £415 for 5 minute consultation, paracetamol and oral suspension!! I’m 73 years of age on benefits cleared me out for Easter!! I’m broke!! Day light robbery!! No compassion it’s all about making money out of vulnerable people desperately concerned about their pets health. The world has gone mad!! Pure greed!!

The initial fee is £325
A ultrasound for a 5kg dog was £175 extra
It has its purpose. It served our needs for the visit but you pay for the “convenience”. There was a lot of waiting around as it was quite busy with only 1 vet from what we could see.
Also, it says it’s 24 hours. It’s not. It’s overnight. It does not open during normal working hours. If your pet needs a longer stay I’m not sure what happens.
Wouldn’t use them again? Yes, if it were an emergency that could not wait until morning.

Saw us more or less straight away at 1am. Went straight in to see vet who was amazing. Could not thank them enough seeing her so quickly.

Very caring and knowledgeable, took a lot of time and effort with my poorly German Shepherd. Thankyou to Trudy the Vet.
Although I do feel that the call out free is extortionate and really doesn’t need to be so expensive.

Had to call at 3am Xmas morning ! - was given advice and directions by text - I was seen straight away by a friendly vet at a very early hour and I was given all the options and the cost bandings - my cat was looked after for the day and felt reassured that she was in safe hands and discharged as soon as she was feeling better.

Vets Now are so great I took my rabbit in for GI STASIS and the vet I saw was so reassuring and exceptional as she was in the middle of an emergency c section of a dog but still took time to see my rabbit and help her

Good to have help at any time of day or night and staff very friendly and kind. Only bad thing is the cost but this seems to be the norm these days.

We were quite distressed when our 14 year old springer spaniel was having what we thought was a stroke in the early hours of the morning. We made a call to the emergency vet. The call was answered quickly and all the details were taken and we were on our way to the vet. When we arrived the problem was diagnosed quickly and with care for our poorly dog. All the details were transferred to our vet for a follow up visit the next day.

Absolute scam artists when it comes to their accounts. They take a hefty sum of money off of you when your pet is vulnerable. Vets Now then make it impossible to get your money back even after 2 weeks of receiving the funds directly from the insurer! My advice, pay the hefty fee but don’t let them claim that part from the insurer “on your behalf”, claim it back directly yourself.
It’s a shame to have to give a one star review to a vet, but people should be aware that when money is tight and you are vulnerable these charlatans have bad practice procedures.

First time having to bring one of my cats to the vets after he ate some lily leaves, my other half and I were super panicked before we arrived but the vets were so calming and informative, they took their time to explain everything in a way we would understand and kept us updated throughout the whole thing. Couldn't be happier with these vets, if it was closer to home I would make this my go to vets.

Avoid at all cost especially the video service they use deceptive
Practice to con you out of hundreds of pounds then they totally ignore their own complaints procedures ignoring what’s taken place as they are too busy with complaints to respond. We was completely lied to by their vet, I’m sure that I’m not the only person they have used such under hand practice on.

I had to have my much loved dog euthanised on a Saturday, driving for nearly an hour as the closest clinic was in Ashford at the Cinque Ports. I paid to have him cremated and was told that I would have to return there to collect him. The total price was £700 which I paid in full at the time. Reading through the reviews, when Vets Now respond, they always justify their fees. If you're going to respond to this, please don't waste your time mentioning the money. I loved my dog and would have paid all I have to stop his suffering. However, for that amount of money I would not expect to have to put up with the debacle that followed.
Today, at 12:46, I was called and told that his ashes had been returned to the clinic and he could be collected. However, on arrival at the clinic (remember it's nearly an hour away), my partner was told that the ashes couldn't be collected as Vets Now only operate after 7:00pm so she'd have to wait for three hours. This was despite the fact that a vet who works for Vets Now was on the premises.
No amount of reasoning, begging or backwards and forwards telephone calls made any difference.
Nobody involved in this saga comes out well: not Cinque Ports Vets who couldn't/wouldn't ask a vet to put a hand in his pocket to get out a key and then wouldn't tell me his name so I could complain. Not Vets Now who obviously don't train their telephone operators to pass on crucial information such as when you can and can't collect ashes that you've paid for so, surely, must legally belong to you. Nor do they phone you back when they say they will. Presumably they think it's reasonable for someone to wait for three hours or have to do a total of four hours driving in order to collect my dog's ashes because of their initial ineptitude.
To cap it all, Cinque Port Vets told my partner that this isn't the first time that this has happened. This being the case, you'd think that someone would have had the sense to put measures in place to prevent this continuing to happen.
Apparently not.
