Absolute shambles

Absolute shambles. I spent an hour on the support site trying to make sense of half-literate mumblings. I have been a member for 10+ years but have now had it. Amazon music here I come with a family subscription.

I have been a paying customer since…

I have been a paying customer since 2016 but that ends today. Far too many price increases and they are completely unjustified. I didn’t use this app for audiobooks, I used it for music but now I’ve got to pay more because of the companies latest move to include audiobooks. It wouldn’t be so bad if audiobook hours were unlimited and were for all individuals on a plan but no. Instead they are capped to 15 hours a month, no roll over and only accessible for the plan manager. There’s hardly any audiobooks that length and when you hit the cap you either have to wait until the next month to finish it or buy the book. Absolutely stupid idea and a terrible move by the company. There have been two price increases in less than a year so with that I’m off to another platform and taking everyone on the plan with me.

I have been a Spotify customer since…

I have been a Spotify customer since 2015. However, the recent price hike to £12 per month means the end of my loyalty. I will be investing my £144 per year somewhere else. It seems like the company hasn't learned anything from Netflix and McDonald's decline.

Spotify is greedy…

Spotify was good and if you use the desktop version it is more like having premium but now you have to have premium to get lyrics?
Why are there so many greedy companys that just try to get money out of you?
Now im probably switching to something else.

Very buggy apps and terrible customer service

I've been a Spotify premium customer for years. The customer service is terrible. Every few months there will be a problem with the Spotify app. All or some of my downloads will disappear. It will stop allowing me to add songs or albums to playlists. The app will go unresponsive so you just get a black screen with a green wheel turning. Even when it's working, it takes the app up to 5 minutes to load on a phone or tablet.
Even worse is the customer service. The live chat is staffed by people who just don't care about providing an effective service. You get cut off repeatedly, usually when the adviser has realised that there won't be a quick solution. When you re-connect you're told that they don't have any record of the previous live chat conversation, so you have to start from scratch over and over again, repeatedly explaining the problem, providing screenshots and detailed info, then getting cut off again, without anything getting resolved. You're always told to uninstall and reinstall the app, meaning all downloads will be deleted. Clearly that is not going to be a solution for disappearing downloads, because they'll all disappear. There's very little else offered other than that old chestnut of uninstall and reinstall, the equivalent of "have you tried turning it off and then on again?". What's the point of paying for the premium service if you have to keep re-downloading all your downloads every couple of months? My internet connection is slow so reach tube it takes weeks.
Today I tried live chat several times, being cut off repeatedly, and complained about this to the last adviser I was in a conversation with, which she obviously didn't like. After I had lost patience with having to repeat myself again and again to different people, I ended the live chat and a minute later got thrown out of Spotify on all my devices, saying my password no longer worked. Clearly she had maliciously changed the password to block my access because she didn't like me complaining. So I've had to go through the password reset and signing in again on all my devices. This is the calibre of person and level of professionalism of the Spotify customer service staff. If you haven't already invested time and effort in a music streaming service, don't bother with Spotify. You'll regret it if you do give this company money.

Appalling customer service who ignore reports of violent content!

Your Customer Service team are a bunch of poorly trained chimps. I spent 1 hr 40 mins trying to report that disgusting Israeli genocide song "Harbu Darbu" to your agents on Friday and repeatedly had them end the conversation with me as soon as they realised which song I was reporting. I asked to raise a formal complaint about how I'd been treated by Customer Service and just had the agents end the conversation again. How can you think it's acceptable for your staff to treat paying Spotify Premium customers like this?!

Spotify is Amazing

I love Spotify, and I use the free version. It completely beats Amazon music by a second. Yes, It has a lot of ads, but it also learns who you are and what you like, which other companies don’t. They have great ideas like Spotify wrapped and Songs in a bottle. Would definitely recommend

False Advertising

I used my sister's account to pay for my premium package with Spotify and then paid it the next month from my account, my sister has just noticed that Spotify has taken money out of her account. I used this account 5 months ago and now I have to pay twice for my Spotify, I have tried not paying for Spotify but they just kept taking the money, even though I thought it was pay as you go.
I am going to stop using Spotify they have falsely advertised what you can do with them.

So much ads

Not bad but gawd damn there’s loads of ads, I’m not tryna pay £3 a month to listen to music. 6 ads of 30 seconds is mad. I’ve switched to Apple Music (ik that costs money too) but it’s just much better for me

Complex account structure and multiple billing

I am no doubt partly to blame here but Spotify's account structure is convoluted and it is very hard to keep track of active accounts. I have maintained (I thought) a single premium account for a long time but now find that I have been paying 3 monthly subscriptions! This has been going on for a long time (since at least 2020) and Spotify have made no effort to double check account status with me. They are also still taking payments from at least one debit card that has expired! Their help chat bot is not up to anything more than vanilla problems and the subsequent live chat, while a better experience, got cut off and so I lost all the history. All very frustrating... Long story short keep an eye on what you are being billed for. 🙁

spotiy why…

I went on the Spotify site to sign up for 3 months free premium, never having had music downloaded to my phone why am I searching google and tech websites to find out how spotify works, why is the bot like talking to a 5 year old, why can I not find the music on my phone that I thought I had downloaded, why isn't there a page on the spotify website with clear instructions how to download music, and finally I decided I can't be bothered and filled out the page explianing my irritation with the spotify system, and a full explenation of how useless the lack of help was I sent the page off to some one who probably is not interested and lets face the ultimate insult I get page 404 so did they get my reasons for leaving having just joined a few hours ago?
