NEVER Upgrade from Basic to Premium, Can't Be Undone

NEVER upgrade to a 'premium' plan from a 'basic' plan, once its done, its impossible to revert back to a basic plan. The one and only difference between say for example, Family Premium and Family Basic, is audiobooks and nothing else. Its subsequently impossible to revert, a fact which is hidden in the small print somewhere apparently. A truly vile practise. Vile.

BEST MUSIC APP YOU CAN GET

I don’t understand why their trustpilot score is so low ? Spotify is the best music platform I’ve ever used & I’ve used many others. Any music you want at the press of a button. You can make groups with your friends & easily share whatever music you want. You can send private messages sharing music or talking to your friends. I listen to Spotify every day so I think the price is fantastic considering how much music I listen to. If you appreciate all types of music then you need to get this app.

Do not use Spotify!

If I could give 0 stars I would!
These people are despicable! There was an issue with my bank card after a potential scam. I tried to access Spotify but it wouldn’t let me. So I had to create a new account. I then invited my family only to have two of them refused!! (Apparently you can only be part of a family plan once every twelve months) Spotify cannot override this apparently. I’ve spent a full day on the app trying to get this sorted out and for the last two days constant emails back and forth. I asked to cancel and get a refund as they are not offering (under the Consumer Rights Act 2015) the service I was promised.
They are also refusing the refund even though the payment was only taken TWO days ago! I’m going to be taking advice on this. Their emails have been nothing but platitudes that mean nothing. Further, this was put to the Escalations Team and NOT ONCE did I ever get to speak to the same person so no continuity. Do not use them, they don’t care about you! They are rude and extremely unhelpful!
EDIT: I have now received a further email from them saying that they WILL now offer me a refund since this post.

Advertisements in podcasts on Spotify Premium — unacceptable experience

I am a paying Spotify Premium subscriber, and I still hear ads when listening to podcasts on the platform. The expectation of Premium is an ad-free experience, and this includes podcasts.

These ads interrupt episodes, sometimes before they start or during playback, even when downloaded for offline listening. This feels like misleading advertising from Spotify and reduces the value of the subscription.

I understand that creators may include sponsorships, but ads inserted by Spotify dynamically — especially for Premium users — are frustrating and contradict what Premium is supposed to offer.

Please clarify this policy and consider providing an opt-out or clearer communication about ads for podcast listeners who pay for Spotify Premium.

Many other users have shared similar frustrations, so I hope this feedback helps bring attention to it.

Was using the free version for years. Moved over to paid subscription and it's been really good. Setting up the accounts and across multiple devices correctly was a bit of a faff but managed to get it done. Nothing but a great service since.

I have been notified by Spotify Limited that it’s is increasing its PREMIUM SERVICE by 7.7% in November 25.
That’s an incredible rise and at such short notice.
I contacted them by Chat-Line. When my questions started to get more in depth and me waiting considerable lengths of time between chats ( She could not keep up) when I mentioned the length of time it was taking, she accused me of being rude giving a bad “tone” to the chat and ended the chat without any further comment from me.
Atrocious behaviour by Spotify I was not rude just asking simple but to the point questions.
I must seek out a better platform to play my beloved music

Music dictatorship

Absolute abomination and who on earth is this so called editor who suggests picks? Is this a 5 year old let loose? Tracks are horrible versions with originals missing and half the albums that are outstanding are not even on there. Audiobooks a d podcasts are a farce and just try to find something you want and their algorithm will decide otherwise for you. Corporate greedy little people who are the worst kind....music is precious but these clowns have bastardised it.

SPOTIFY CAN NOT DO BASIC SHUFFLE

After all this time using Spotify. Couldn't understand WHY I was hearing all the same tracks over and over EVEN though I've thousands of songs in my library at hundreds of hours of total play time. Thought I'd contact Spotify and find out. Turns out they CAN NOT even do a BASIC feature like shuffle each and every song in your library. They can only generate a "queue" and play a sample of your tracks up to 50 on shuffle at any one time. I literally laughed in disgust. Ended the chat and as a lifelong Android and Samsung man have now found myself utilising Apple Music simply for this basic feature!!! Ridiculous. Used Android Soundiiz via Apples Songshift to seamlessly transfer my ENTIRE array of songs and custom playlists AWAY from Spotify over to Apple Music. I guess a) Can now shuffle every song and entire library and b) utilise Dolby Atmos with Spatial Sound at Hi-Res Lossless so thanks Apple I guess you win this round.

Beware the free trial

Beware the free trial
I took out the offer of three months trial membership, I was notified that the trial was ending and decided that I didn’t use it enough for the £12 per month fee.
I followed the process on the website and cancelled my membership, I noticed a week later that a further payment had been taken and my membership was still in place, since then I have been given the run around by Spotify ‘support’ who use a tactic of signing every email with a different name and asking for the same information over and over again.
I have given up trying to resolve the matter which is clearly the result they intended and cancelled my membership again. I strongly advise anyone taking out the free trial membership to keep every email as you will need them, also cancel your payment with whichever source you use to make it. I will never deal with these people again.
Spotify will probably reply to this review saying how sorry they are with this situation and asking me to contact Spotify support, yes, well, I have wasted enough time doing that already.

AVOID!! Trial period is a Scam, service is below standard

Trial period is a scam! Legally they need to provide 14 days cooling off period to consumers for digital subscription. However they give you trial period longer than that so that you get busy with your life and forget to cancel and they make easy money off you. Once payment is taken forget about it, customer service is shocking, its pure TAPE RECORDER. I was charged for being 5 hours late to cancel my subscription as I was travelling and their reminders are useless as they send you 2 weeks before due date. Chose wisely, wouldn't recommend them at all, now i know why APPLE MUSIC is becoming popular choice for all. @Spotify if you want to improve then understand your consumer and read these reviews.

Disappointed by Spotify’s Inflexibility…

Disappointed by Spotify’s Inflexibility During a Hard Time

I signed up for a trial with Spotify and barely used it. Life got busy, and like many people, I forgot to cancel. Then came an unexpected charge — during a time when every penny counts. I’m a student, balancing studies and rent, and genuinely struggling financially.

I reached out and spoke to two agents — Paula and Pandita. They were kind in tone, full of empathy, but unfortunately, empathy was all they could offer. Both said their “hands were tied” and that guidelines don’t allow refunds beyond a certain window — even when the subscription was barely used and I was clearly in distress.

Spotify may be following policy, but where’s the human side of customer care? One payment might mean nothing to a corporation, but it meant food or fuel to me.

If they truly listened — as they said they did — this wouldn’t have ended in a scripted shutdown. It would’ve ended with compassion.

Deeply disappointed. If you’re considering a trial and you live on a tight budget — beware.
