Action fraud fail the public

I had just been on a clothing. Website, which turned out to be a scam and have never heard from them. Since the email on their website is fake, the mobile number is a normal mobile number not a business number and obviously permanently turned off. I tried to report this as a scam and fraud to action fraud. Who we pay tax to help the public being scammed online by this fraudsters they stole 539 pound out of my bank and never heard from them again. And now can't get in touch with them. I've received an email back from this report. Action fraud informed me they won't be taking any further action. Based on the information, the information I gave them, they didn't give it 20 minutes before they made that decision. So they certainly didn't investigate the fake email or the fake business mobile number provided on the site. It's an absolute disgraced. This country will never be stopped being scammed and people's hard. Earned money robbed and we pay tax for their service. It should be a total reform of action fraud. For a failing to the public in such a disgusting way

Reports logged, but no meaningful action taken

My experience with Action Fraud has been extremely disappointing and has left me questioning the purpose of the service.
Both myself and members of my family have reported genuine cybercrime incidents, providing detailed and verifiable information. In one case, this included the individual’s name, address, limited company details, and associated bank account information. Despite this, the report was ultimately closed with the explanation that there was “insufficient evidence to pursue a conviction.”
This raises serious concerns about how reports are assessed and what level of evidence is actually required before action is taken. From a victim’s perspective, it feels as though reports are simply logged and closed, rather than properly investigated.
The process creates a false sense of reassurance that fraud is being addressed, when in reality there appears to be little practical follow-up or accountability. Victims take the time to gather evidence and submit detailed reports, yet receive no meaningful support or outcome.
Until there is greater transparency and clear evidence of investigations progressing where identifiable information exists, it is difficult to have confidence in the effectiveness of the service.

Waste of time

Waste of time, reported a Cyber crime and they didnt want to know, called them twice spoke to a lady who put the phone down on me, as she couldnt answer my question. If you submit their form with details you cant upload any evidence as they will ask for this after you have submitted form. You then receive a email to say that your form has been looked at and due to lack of evidence the case is closed. What a joke this is

Bitterly disappointing experience!

Today I spent 1.5 hours trying to report a bank card fraud on my account. I diligently completed every bit of information that was asked for and almost at the end was closed down without any good reason.
I have reported it already to my bank but thought it a good idea to inform this new government office too in order to help others. What a mistake! The IT is clunky and not user friendly - after failing on the website I tried the chat line and calling but both systems busy - probably because of people like myself trying their best to use the online form that doesn’t work.

Just rang (in)Action Fraud to report…

Just rang (in)Action Fraud to report phone spoofing, and honestly, I’d have had a more productive afternoon shouting my complaint into a hedge. What an absolute masterpiece of wasted time. Why does this service even exist when their “deterrent” for cybercrime appears to be a conviction rate so low it needs a microscope and a prayer to detect it?
There’s no human interaction whatsoever—just an automated phone system so labyrinthine and joyless it makes Dante’s Inferno feel like a spa weekend. By the time the robotic voice finished its 47th menu option, I was ready to confess to crimes I haven’t even committed just to escape.
Meanwhile, cybercriminals are out there absolutely howling, kicking back in their swivel chairs, laughing their WINsocks off, and probably spoofing my number again for sport.

Rubbish site

Rubbish site. I think it needs a major overhaul because when I tried to report a fraudulent use of my card the question were unrelated and irrelevant. It started ok but went onto another planet which did not allow me to submit the problem. The bank had to cancel the card and I have to wait 5 days at the most for a replcement. The site needs to be simplified and concentrate on the issue without stupid unrelated questions.

Action Fraud's replacement Report Fraud is no better

I must have been among the first consumers to access the Report Fraud website on January 20, 2026, the day it launched. I'd previously reported fraud to its predecessor Action Fraud and found the process frustrating and, ultimately, pointless. Sorry to say, the new platform, which the City of London Police promised would be 'the most significant evolution of our national capability' fell very short of the mark when it comes to user experience. I created a new account and tried three times to file a report. Each time, the platform fell over, wiping all the evidence that I had taken 20 minutes filling in. So I phoned the reporting hotline and gave the information to the call handler who seemed more interested in making sure I didn't need victim support, which I'm sure is really important for some crime victims, but surely having a system that accurately records, in as much detail as possible, evidence that will lead to arrests is the priority here. I wasn't even asked or given the opportunity to share the screen shots I'd gathered. It took all of two hours for me to receive an email, telling me the case had been classified a '19A', which it went on to explain means it didn't qualify for further investigation because 'there are insufficient lines of enquiry to warrant such dissemination'. Really? This was a mobile phone upgrade scam that has been well-documented (I sadly discovered later) and was ongoing (the scammers were still trying to contact me to insist I take delivery of a phone they'd hacked into my account to order). A security advisor at EE had previously told me that there was no point playing along with the hackers to gain further information because the stolen phones in this complex scam would go to Post Office Boxes and (quote) 'the police could monitor them if they wanted, but they don't' aka it's not worth the effort trying to help the police with their inquiries. Fraud is currently the biggest crime in the UK, creating misery and hardship for millions of people and feeding corruption that organises money-laundering, trafficking and worse. And this is the best we can do?

Facetious and obvious fraud

Why isn’t any police or fraud section blocking the site Mabel and Daisy purporting to sell handmade clothes from Devon but selling market clothes nothing to the standard advertised.
So many people have complained an about losing money and receiving poor quality goods from a China warehouse.
How long is Mabel and Daisy being allowed to advertise and sell fraudulently.?
Why aren’t their adverts blocked? Sadly Action Fraud seems to do nothing but commiserate if anyone is ripped off. Does it ever take action as so many people have gone to them and it’s like going to a counselling meeting with no intention to inform fraud people or internet police. Mabel and Daisy are breaking the law with false adverts and goods. Is there anyone out there who deals with this or does Action Fraud just offer pity instead of taking action

Useless

Useless, just like everything else in this country. People can do a crime and it's ok, nobody will do anything about it.

Useless

Someone stole my house when I was in hospital long-term (pretended to be a lettings agent, forged my signature on a rental contract, and started collecting rent from a "tenant" I knew nothing about, which all went into his own pocket). When I found out I filled in a form with Action Fraud, filled in the form at 1am on a Sunday and got an automated reply 2 minutes later saying they couldn't investigate due to insufficient evidence when I was able to provide tons of evidence including a statement from the tenant and the forged tenancy agreement.

It's obvious no one actually read the fraud report. Everything just gets denied automatically.

My van has been stolen by fraud method

My van has been stolen by fraud method. I've had all the evidence, photos, numbers, text messages dates, records. They did nothing so it means you can legally steal someone's car and avoid liability. Just great !

Not fit for purpose. Waste of public money…

Would rate this service MINUS many stars if possible, since absolutely useless.
Have many times attempted to report serious fraudulent matters to no avail, costing me hundreds of thousands pounds.
The agents are unfit for purpose. They simply cannot understand the concept of the fraud being committed or obfuscate the issue. We, the public require officers trained and expert in this area
in both the police and on this service

This service is a waste of public money and time.

Twisted way of sweeping crime under the carpet

What a twisted way of sweeping real crimes under the carpet. Let's say you get money stolen by some business, meaning they didn't provide the goods or service promised. You call 101 (The lazy Police sitting behind desks, as if they weren't lazy enough already). They refer you to Action Fraud (mostly Asians in call centres around country who all know the score). They spend an hour with you on the phone filling in a form you can do online. They press enter, it goes to National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), who may as well be a server or a person sitting next to them. After a few mins someone...something, sends a response 19a that there was not sufficient evidence and closes the case. I went through this process twice and with 2nd rejection, no lie, I felt like taking things into my own hands and doing some harm to the person who put me in this mess. Anyone who had lost 10 thousand pounds probably would. Essentially this outfit is pretty much doing the opposite of solving a crime. It would be creating extra crimes. Basically, unless enough people call in about the same scammer nothing happens.
This is not even a thinly veiled system. This month Action fraud changed its name to Report fraud. I wonder why!?

What a dreadful inefectual load of…

What a dreadful inefectual load of nonsense.
Dont bwaste your time reporting anything nto these bafoons! They just send you a message after all of the form filling saying they cannot follow it up.
This is the state of our policing I'm afraid. We all know it but are powerless to do anything. All people in charge of this sham of a system should be fired!
You dont even bother to read this 1 star feedback you absolute feilures. The new system coming out is "Report Fraud" same sh1t different toilet.

Below is the standard response on here by AF but the system they refer to does not work. Show me a positive review where just 1 person has had a successful outcome to their report of a fraud using this rubbish site.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you are not satisfied with the level of service you have received.

When any report of fraud is made the information is placed on the NFIB’s intelligence system. Due to the volume of frauds reported, they are assessed through a technical system initially which scores the viability of investigation for each. This assessment considers a number of factors including any linked reports and the suspect information provided, those that meet a required threshold will then be analysed by a crime reviewer.

There are certain preliminary enquiries that need to be conducted to ensure the report is passed to the correct police force to investigate and that they have enough information to consider an investigation. Action Fraud and the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau do not investigate crime but do record and assess reports made by members of the public to determine if these are suitable to be sent to a particular police force to decide upon an investigation method.

While I appreciate that this answer might not be satisfactory, Action Fraud continues to work to improve the service provided to victims of fraud and cybercrime. Unfortunately, Action Fraud cannot guarantee or prompt a police investigation, but if you have any further information related to your report that you would like to add, please update the web reporting tool using your NFRC and password via the website

Thank you for your feedback.

Unbelievably Bad System

Firstly its no longer Action Fraud but the name has changed to the much more catchy 'Report Fraud'. I reported my fraud with Action Fraud on 29th November despite having all the evidence to support a prosecution i.e. offender details, bank account, address , exhibits and all the communications in an item dishonestly sold to us for a tidy sum. They responded a few days later to inform me they were doing nothing about it citing insufficient lines of enquiry???? WALOB! Disgusted at this I contacted them today for a copy of my report to find that the item was on the old Action Fraud System and the new system couldn't access it. I contacted them by phone and requested a copy of it emailed to me. They've even failed to send a copy of the report. Considering this is a Government sanctioned platform to deal with Fraud and Scams its nothing more than useless and just acts as skip to throw in your instances of fraud. If I could give minus stars I would!

Beware of re-branding

Due to all of the extremely scathing/adverse feedback offered to date regarding Action Fraud, it looks like they are trying to rebrand their name as Report Fraud, but still use the same telephone number and staff to run it My advice would be to apply caution, if you are expecting to receive proactive assistance.

This is based on the ability of contact…

This is based on the ability of contact I had could get from Action Fraud, although they have a helpful enquiry chat service, their online reporting process is too complex for a simple phone number report in my experience. Also when I called them their phone options did not accept/recognise speech and after pressing 1 to hear options it repeated the first message. The next day I tried again and it constantly hung up.
