Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 86 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained that customer service was unhelpful, with agents abruptly hanging up calls or failing to assist properly. People also mentioned frustratingly long wait times and very slow responses when trying to get assistance over the phone or via chat. Consumers found the online website extremely difficult to navigate and noted that submitted cases were often closed almost immediately without proper attention. However, some people mentioned that individual staff members were surprisingly polite and welcoming when first contacting them about their issues. Reviewers noted that the enquiry chat service could sometimes be helpful despite the broader frustrations.

Waste of a phone call

Contacted ActionFraud on 03001232040 as recommended by AXA after reporting van insurance fraudulently taken out using my name and address in order to report and get a crime number.

Apart from taking my name and date of birth didn’t ask for any other detail and suggested I got a free credit score app or a more comprehensive 2 year for £30 paid app to see whether other efforts had been made using my details.

Realise in the overall scheme of things to them this is relatively trivial and unimportant and came away the distinct impression that they weren’t in the slightest bit interested.

They didn’t give a crime number, apparently dont di that any more.

Waste of a phone call and my times

Website is okay BUT,........

I posted a 4 star review about Action Fraud a few weeks back. The rating was more to do with their website and report systems for ATTEMPTED fraud ie scam phone calls, texts and emails.

I also posted a bit about reporting actual fraud where money has been lost and where the non-help from the call centre staff is causing even more problems for victims of fraud. This is a serious ongoing problem that must be addressed. I made a couple of suggestions.

I am aware there was a mega problem with reporting fraud crime a few years ago when the professional call centre operations were outsourced but I thought that had been sorted. Obviously not!

Let me begin by offering a warm and…

Let me begin by offering a warm and calming reassurance that everything is absolutely fine, perfectly legal, beautifully sound and utterly problem-free — all thanks to a lovely little letter from Action Fraud UK, signed by the ever-mysterious “Nameless Office Manager,” Mr Joe Doe. Nothing says confidence like someone who signs their job title instead of a name.

I’m not petty; I’m simply factual — even though, by all rights, I should be petty. But luckily for me, Action Fraud UK has made sure I don’t need to be. Their masterful logic, their razor-sharp critical thinking, and their undeniable ability to tell me that white is actually black, and that fraud is definitely not fraud, have truly warmed my heart and strengthened my institutional trust.

So, let me share what I’ve learned, since apparently fraud now officially means no fraud at all. According to Action Fraud UK, a company, corporation, or even your neighbour’s cousin can put any unsolicited third-party data onto your account — replacing your personal, private, legally validated information months after the contract was signed — and this is completely allowed. No consent needed. No notification required. No fraud recorded. It’s simply “not a fraud,” because Action Fraud UK says so. And that alone makes it true.

Next chapter: when fraud magically becomes not fraud.

Apparently, anyone can alter your contract, falsify details, adjust data, and quietly siphon money from you for five years straight — and this is still not fraud. It’s all good, bro. Fraud is not fraud. Unauthorised overcharging is not fraud either. Long-term financial harm? Not fraud. Who knew.

Feeling reassured yet? I certainly am. My mistake for being confused for a second.

Imagine I walk into my neighbour’s bank, tax office or utility provider, hand over some random stranger’s data, mumble something or nothing at all, and walk out. Then the clerk, out of pure creative enthusiasm, decides to put that data onto my neighbour’s account. No permission. No logic. No legality. But according to Action Fraud UK: totally fine. Not fraud. Happy days.

Of course, I’m not suggesting that any respectable company would wait five months after a fully signed contract before inserting unrelated third-party information into a validated agreement — that would be shocking. Outrageous. Impossible. Right? But if they did, that would still be labelled “not a fraud.” Because everyone is just trying to keep accounts “safe.” Naturally.

Who cares except the victim? Certainly not the company, not the corporate body, not the regulator, not the government. And definitely not Action Fraud UK.

Because here’s the ultimate lesson: refusing to record a fraudulent act means — magically — that it legally isn’t fraud. And if Action Fraud UK doesn’t record it, then it must be allowed. So the five years of siphoned payments? Legal. The falsified data? Legal. The unauthorised changes? Legal. The damage to someone’s life? Legal. Why? Because “no fraud recorded.”

Wonderful.

Just one small detail: the money was taken quietly, continuously, in small cumulative amounts, over a period of five years. All documented. All provable. All ignored. But still — “no fraud.” A beautiful new legal category created by a regulator: Fraud-That-Is-Not-Fraud.

I salute this achievement. Truly. Even if the cheese wasn’t very good.

So, before the next potato-potato office-manager-associate template reply comes in, blaming the weather, a cloud, Mercury in retrograde or a stiff breeze, here is the reference number for your convenience: NFRC251107764XXX. No need to record it of course, because fraud equals no fraud equals no problem. Perfect system.

And now, dear reader, close your eyes. Imagine this isn’t about a neighbour. Imagine it’s about YOU — your air, your water, your shelter, your food, your children’s stability — quietly drained over years, stamped officially as “No Fraud Recorded.”

Cheers, Action Fraud UK.
Your logic helps a lot.

Report dismissed without any evidence being requested

Reported a clear case of fraud, but they sent a message back saying not enough evidence to proceed with a good chance of success.
I have concrete evidence but they do not allow it to be presented, cannot upload it on website, and they hide their address for posting.
They said they do not want see the evidence and the matter is closed.
Their office is a disgrace and not fit for purpose.
If anyone there cares to respond, the ref is NFRC25090764841

Dismissed, victim blamed, harmed by fraud then harmed by Action Fraud.

Complete waste of time, not including the 30 minute wait time to speak to someone- Action Fraud failed or didn’t want to grasp the specifics of my complaint and dismissed it based on simplistic and incorrect assumption. ‘That’s not something we deal with’ seems to be a standard response.
They dismissed my emotional experience also, My anxiety and distress of being defrauded were invalidated, I fell prey to an Fruad then fell pray to the promise of Action Fraud. Double whammy. The fact that I eventually felt empowered to report it, only to be dismissed, is a secondary trauma. Victim blaming by Action Fraud. What a waste of Tax payers money. They need to be disbanded and a proper service put in place.
Do something productive or nothing at all. (They fall into the ‘do nothing at all category) don’t even deserve one star.

Don't bother reporting any types of crime to Action Fraud

Don't bother reporting any type of cyber crime or fraud to these people because all you will get back in an email is "sorry on this occasion we were unable to do anything" blinking useless, I am not happy one little bit.
It's no wonder the likes of Russia have been able to cause havoc in recent months with cyber crime!

I wouldn't even give the service a 1 star review. Worst service ever received. The fraud reported has been going on for 8 month and taking money off innocent people who work hard. Nothing done and the customer service is appalling.

I would give Zero stars reported 2 cases of identity theft and was told we cannot record a crime and on this occasion the matter you reported to us cannot be classified as a police recorded crime. What a waste of space

A totally useless organisation

I'd give zero rating if it were possible. A thorough waste of time. I spent time navigating the very slow and clunking reporting process to enter my details and account of the crime. Today, I received an email telling me the incident I reported wasn't a Police recordable crime. So, apparently, it's perfectly legal to hack into someone's shopping account and use their credit card details to fraudulently obtain goods. Plus, fine apparently for the scammer to then call me pretending to be my credit card company and try to obtain by fraudulent means the security code to purchase a high-value item. The email from Action Fraud made zero sense, it was splitting hairs and ignoring the seriousness of this type of crime and identity fraud. No wonder thousands do it, they know they can get away with it! Action Fraud is itself a fraudulent waste of public money- looking at the 1-star reviews here, it achieves NOTHING. An outrageous waste of resources. The Police service for non-emergency crimes these days is non-existent - no contact details available for any stations, and many branches are closed. It's clear that serving the public is not in any way a priority or aim. Contacting them was a total waste of time, I feel like Action Fraud is like a scam on the public, an excuse to do absolutely nothing! Strange though how many Police can be deployed to arrest old people for holding pro-Palestinian placards in a peaceful protest. We know what the State's real priorities are. We should all lobby our MPs to get rid of Non-Action Fraud.
