Extremely disappointing experience with Wheego in Tirana, Albania.
We arrived with a confirmed
reservation and a valid physical BBVA credit card in the name of the main driver, fully capable of covering the security deposit.
The rental office refused to release the vehicle because the card did not have the card number printed on the surface. This is a modern bank-issued credit card from a major European bank and is perfectly valid for payment and pre-authorisation purposes.
We asked the staff to attempt the deposit pre-authorisation, but they refused to proceed. We also requested clarification regarding the specific rental condition that our card allegedly did not meet, but no satisfactory explanation was provided.
As a result, we lost a significant amount of time, had to cancel the reservation, and were forced to find another rental company at the last minute.
Fortunately, another rental company accepted the same type of credit card without any issue, confirming that the problem was not the card itself.
Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. The handling of the situation was inflexible, unhelpful, and caused unnecessary stress and disruption to our trip.

If something seems too good to be true it usually is. This company is a scam and should be ashamed of itself. When we went to pick up the car from their Málaga depot they put add ons that there was no mention of when booking online, to the tune of about £180. When we went to check the car there were a number of dints and scratches to the car so it was to know what was included in the check sheet. On return of the car the guy who checked the car said he found another scratch. Upon trying to argue our case that there was loads of scratches on the car when we picked it up, but he would not have it and started getting hostile and started threatening to call the police knowing we had a flight to catch to get back home. Meaning they were blackmailing us to pay now or they call the police and we would miss our flight. I would urge anyone else who has been scammed by this company to contact there trading standards department so these complaints can be logged and the company dealt with.

I booked a car via Car Jet for one week paid in full. When I go to collect a car i was informed by staff they haven’t got my reservation after making a phone call and half an hour waiting i was informed that my reservation was cancelled because i came to late instead 10am i was 11.45am and car was rented to someone else.I my opinion even i come late car been paid in full for a week and should be for my disposition any time.On the and i have to use different car rental and coast me extra stress and money.Wheego is a worse car rental in planet.

If I could rate them with 0 as the worst worst worst service I would.
They charges us for a damage we never did 2.000€, which was exactly the amount they told us we will pay if anything happens, if we don’t buy their insurance!!!

Hired a car from this company whilst on a trip to Poland.
And apparently picked up a parking fine which I was unaware of.
Over a year later they have charged the credit card I used to hire the car 469 Pln
When the fine was only 100 Pln.
So that’s over three times more than the original fine for processing it.
That doesn’t seem very fair to me.
No wonder this company has lots of bad reviews…..

While I was happy with the car itself, I unfortunately fell victim to the final inspection and claims that I was to blame for a tiny scratch on the exterior of the car that wouldn’t have been visible when I picked it up as the car was clean. Dust from the dirt road and rain settled into the hair-width scratch and the agent claimed it was not there before. Photos before the rental would not have revealed it so they charged me for it (over $900 which is outrageous). Fortunately I had purchased the additional insurance via booking.com so they are dealing with it.

I had a very disappointing experience with this company. I left a €1200 deposit when renting a car, and even after returning the vehicle in perfect condition, the deposit was never refunded. I contacted the company several times by email, but received no reply at all.

It is unacceptable for a rental company to withhold such a large amount without any explanation or communication. I do not recommend this company and strongly advise other customers to avoid the same situation.

SCAM ALERT! Predatory tactics and fraudulent overcharges
Avoi Wheego Malaga at all costs. At pick-up, the desk agent kept me stranded for an entire hour, aggressively pressuring me to cancel my broker's booking and buy their direct insurance, causing massive distress. They also deliberately park cars in a pitch-black lot so you can't check pre-existing conditions.
To make matters worse, we arrived at the desk just 2 minutes late solely because we had to wait a long time for their own shuttle service. Despite this being entirely their fault, they forced an unfair out-of-hours fee on us and intentionally overcharged me in direct breach of our contract. While the agreement contractually capped the out-of-hours fee at €35, they charged me €50. They did the exact same thing with the administrative fees, charging €100 instead of the €75 contractual limit. Now, their customer service has completely vanished.
Make sure to always double-check your contractual terms before making ANY payment to them! They will distort the facts and slip in unauthorized costs. This is a completely dishonest operator—stay away!

An absolute fraud and scam of a company, AVOID and don’t fall for the low prices to get you to rent from them, it’s a trap so they can get you with charges later on and they will try anything to charge you extra. My experience was in Liverpool where it seems to be operated by one guy, this guy is a liar and a scammer. They make up damage so they can over charge you to fix it to make themselves more money and scam customers. Don’t use Liverpool wheego, pay the extra money for a better company with a better reputation.

Even though it was confirmed at drop off that our refund of £1,200 would be released this took 2 months with multiple complains and escalations to resolve. I wish I had checked the reviews prior to booking on booking.com!

Be careful if you rent from these scammers. You’ve been warned—they took 1,200 euros from my account, and these people are the most uncooperative you’ll ever find. I have proof—a video—and they’re even trying to charge me 1,200 euros for scratches that weren’t even there. Lithuania is a beautiful country, but the people could be a bit nicer; tourists won’t want to go there anymore. Booked through booking.com as I have many times before with other car rental companies. Arrived to collect my car and wheego refused to accept my credit card for deposit because it had my first initial and surname, apparently their terms state full name must be valid.

What I found strange was that if I purchase their additional protection cover through them, they would then accept my card for deposit. Seemed like an upwell opportunity to me.

What I thought would cost £21 for 2 day rental, ended up costing £136. All plans had been made, I needed the car so I had to cop the fee.

The gentleman who served me was nice, but such a ridiculous policy, never had an issue with any other rental before.

In the UK, most card providers don't ask what you'd like displayed on your debit/ credit card. This was totally unavoidable by me and no fault of my own. I'll not be using them again.

We rented a car via booking.com with full insurance, however when we came at the desk we had to buy full insurance again because our creditcard did not have our first names spelled out? Which no creditcard in the Netherlands has. This was also not mentioned in the voucher or information we got from booking.com. At the desk of Wheego there were more people that had problems with this scam. The staff of Wheego was not friendly and the extra insurance that they wanted us to sign and pay was only written in Albanian and not English. We could not take the car and still received no money back. Do not trust this company!

AVOID AT ALL COST

I have rented a car from the airport, and even after one and a half months, the deposit of 1200 euros is still not released. I have filed an official complaint with Ryanair with the hope that this will be resolved.

Very bad experience with Whee Go through Booking.com.
Our car rental reservation was for 10:00 AM. Due to a flight delay, we arrived around 11:00 AM — only about one hour later — and our reservation had already been cancelled and all cars were gone.
We were left without any transport and no real help or alternative solution was offered. Completely unacceptable treatment for customers arriving from the airport.
A one-hour delay should not result in losing a fully confirmed booking. Very disappointing service and stressful experience.

Do not use them. Literally took our money and they refused to give us a car. Hidden in the small print is that you have to have an international drivers license. It is a non standard term and not highlighted anywhere obvious. They refused to refund us or honour the contract. It is a non standard term and hidden away. Took us to a warehouse away from the airport house and then tried to charge us 3 times what we paid with no refund and offering a deal with £2000 excess plus extra admin charges. Outrageously bad. Also refused to drop us back to the airport so we had to uber it with young kids. Buyer beware Stay away. I would like to think they were embarrassed at working there but they weren’t!
