I've never come across a company quite like this. The staff are incredibly rude, there are hidden charges and they actively try to make you feel awful.

Possibly the worst car rental in the world, do not use. I have a valid Virgin credit card (Mastercard) but they refused to give me my car as the small print states the credit card must have your name written on the front of the card, and my Virgin credit card has it written on the back. This is an absolute scam, as they would only then give me the car if I paid and extra 2,000 polish zloty. In case of any doubt, a credit card works equally well whether your name is written on the front or the back. Cancelled my booking and will never use again
AVOID AT ALL COST!!!
AVOID AT ALL COST!!!
This was by far the worst car rental experience I've had.
From the moment we arrived, the staff's first words were essentially a warning: "A little scratch will cost you more than a thousand euros." That immediately set the tone.
Although I had already purchased full insurance through DoYouItaly.com, they kept insisting that it was not enough and strongly pressured us to buy their own insurance. When I declined, they claimed my credit card could not be used for the security deposit because their POS terminal "declined" it. The same card worked perfectly a few days later, so I have serious doubts about what actually happened.
At that point, I had only two options:
* pay 60EUR/day for their additional "Super Insurance", or
* lose the money already paid for the reservation, return to Palermo Airport and try to find another rental company.
Under that pressure, I had no realistic choice but to purchase their insurance.
Things didn't improve after collecting the car:
* The vehicle was extremely dirty inside and out (see photos).
* There was no complimentary upgrade despite availability.
* The fuel level was only around **1/4 full**, yet the paperwork recorded it as **1/2 full**, meaning we had to photograph everything before leaving to protect ourselves.
Overall, the experience felt like selling insurance was a much higher priority than customer service. I rent cars frequently across Europe and have never felt so pressured or uncomfortable at a rental desk.
I would strongly recommend choosing another rental company in Palermo. The stress, aggressive upselling, questionable handling of the security deposit, and poor condition of the vehicle completely overshadowed the holiday.
Wheego Portugal
Wheego Portugal – Be very careful with the price you think you're paying
Extremely disappointing experience with Wheego in Portugal.
I booked a rental through VIP Cars after finding the vehicle via Skyscanner. The advertised price was around AUD $485, and I was initially charged AUD $127 at the time of booking. However, when I arrived at the Wheego desk in Portugal, I ended up being charged approximately €597.
That is an enormous difference from the price I believed I had agreed to.
The situation became even more frustrating when there was an issue with the credit card required for the security deposit. I had a valid debit card available, and my wife also had a credit card. Rather than finding a reasonable solution, I was effectively left with the choice of paying substantially more or risking not getting the car I had travelled there to collect.
What I find particularly unacceptable is the lack of transparency around the additional costs. A rental advertised at approximately AUD $485 should not turn into a €597 charge at the counter without the customer having a very clear understanding of what they are actually agreeing to.
But what really says everything about the company is what happened afterwards.
I submitted a formal complaint directly to Wheego, clearly setting out the circumstances and asking them to explain and address the charges. They didn't even bother to respond.
They were happy to take the money, but apparently not interested in taking responsibility or even providing a response to a legitimate customer complaint.
Both Wheego and the broker can point to terms and conditions, but that doesn't change the customer experience: the price presented when booking and the amount ultimately demanded were dramatically different, and when I challenged it formally, Wheego simply ignored me.
My advice to anyone considering Wheego: read everything extremely carefully, confirm the exact amount you will actually pay at the counter, and make absolutely sure you understand their payment and security-deposit requirements before travelling.
For me, this was a very poor experience from start to finish — unexpected additional charges, no reasonable solution at the desk, and then complete silence when I formally complained.
They were very quick to take my money and apparently had no interest in addressing my concerns afterwards.
I would not use Wheego again and would strongly recommend considering other rental companies.
Katie didn’t pick us up on time .

AVOID AT ALL COST!!
AVOID AT ALL COST!!!
I booked a car from Wheego through a third party. I paid for the service to be collected from the airport by a representative. Nobody showed up. I and my family had to make our way to the depot ourselves. At the desk they refused to give out the car which I had already paid for. They used the excuse that my credit card only had the initial of my first name and my surname (which is standard for all credit cards issued in the UK) and 'offered' me the same car for the amount of 3 times the original. It was very late and I and my family were left with no other choice but to pay that amount. I complained to the third party who said they would contact wheego and contact me back. They never did!!! I use rental cars providers on a regular basis, but I have never experienced such an appalling service before. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
Scam warning! Predatory tactics to force insurance upgrades.
Do not book with Wheego. I had a confirmed booking via a third-party platform. Upon arrival at Vilnius Airport, the agent refused to hand over the car because my physical credit card shows my first initial (S. Kersten) instead of my full first name (Sophie Kersten). In the Netherlands, it is standard banking practice to print only initials on credit cards. My passport clearly proves my identity. The agent then explicitly told me this "issue" would instantly disappear if I paid for an expensive, immediate insurance upgrade. This proves the name discrepancy was just an excuse to extort money from me.I refused to give in to this scam and was left stranded, forcing me to book a last-minute alternative elsewhere for €450. Avoid this predatory company at all costs!
Awful
Awful, whatever you do, Don't book here. They put you under pressure for a ridiculously expensive insurance. Pure criminals
Honestly the worse EVER!
Honestly the worse! They should take this provider off every single platform!
This company is a scam
This company is a scam. Very devious and untrustworthy. Especially the employees Visi und Ardid. Avoid at all costs.
Avoid at all cost
Avoid at all cost, rip off and aggressive when picking car up. Will rip you off and zero customer service. Add extra charges on top of the agreed amount.
Only book if you want to be their next victim.
The worst company in Europe and Bulgaria in particular
One of the worst car companies that thieves have ever seen, marking the marks and scratches on the car to charge. The place looks like a hole in a troubled neighborhood. It looks scary. It's a very dubious place. Don't be tempted by the cheap price. It's expensive.
Strict 59-minute cancelation policy hidden in fine print
Our pre-paid booking was canceled with no refund because we arrived at the desk just past the company's strict 59-minute grace period. We then spent 40 minutes waiting in their slow-moving queue while the agent dealt with other issues. It was incredibly frustrating for me and my young son to stand in line for that long, only to be told the booking was void. The agent then offered to rent us the exact same car on the spot, but for three times the original price. We refused this unfair markup and easily rented from another company at the airport instead. There was no specific mention of this 59-minute restriction on our rental voucher; it was hidden in the fine print.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
We were charged €899.99 after returning our hire car for a scratch that we dispute.
Luckily, we'd filmed the entire car when we collected it (something I now recommend everyone does). We sent Wheego the video because it appears to show the same scratch they're claiming we caused.
Instead of addressing the video, they just kept sending generic replies explaining their "process" and ignored the main piece of evidence we'd provided.
We were then charged €800 for damage plus a €99.99 admin fee, despite disputing liability from the start.
The whole experience was incredibly stressful, especially as this happened just before we had to catch our flight home. We felt rushed and weren't given a proper opportunity to challenge the allegation before leaving the airport.
The charges are now being disputed with our card provider and referred to the Spanish consumer authorities.
If you're hiring from Wheego, film every single panel of the car before you drive away. Don't rely on the damage sheet alone, and don't assume a small mark that's already there won't become your problem later.
I won't be using this company again.
Scammers
Scammers. I rent from many car companies and this combat we few times also. The last time in Manchester the new Ritz guy accused us of a new damage at the lip of the front car after I dropped my keys in drop box. They are liars and took advantage of me not being there, didn’t show any pictures. After they don’t pick up calls or multiple emails to communicate. AVOID this dishonest rip off
They did not want to give the deposit back
This rental car company did not want to reimburse to me the 1,000€ deposit even if I had returned the car in perfect conditions. They firstly argued they had 30 days to do so. Later on that they were 30 workable days. Later on that their finance department was working on it. But weeks passed and they continued to keep my money. I sent quite a few emails to their customer service but nothing. Finally I had to report a scam before two state Bulgarian authorities. Finally I received my money 3 months after I returned the car and I think it was due to my official complaints before authorities. At present there are two official procedures against this company.
I’d give -1 if I could and
I’d give -1 if I could and, for context, O rent cars up to have five times a year and have done so in most European and many Asian countries. Worst experience ever. Charging for arriving forty minutes early, claims of damages where there are none and no bill to explain why. Generally just rude unprofessional. Book anywhere else but these guys
They have very poor customer service
They have very poor customer service. Avoid at all cost. They do not know what a customer is. Book elsewhere.
WheeGo Vilnius
WheeGo Vilnius – Is a legal scam. Stay away.
I have rented cars all over the World and I have never experienced anything like this.
After returning the car, WheeGo refunded my EUR 900 deposit but then charged me an additional EUR 170 for interior cleaning, exterior cleaning, and "Administrative services for other cases."
The car was returned in normal used condition after ordinary road use. Their "evidence" consisted of close-up photos of a rubber floor mat with a little sand and a few insects on the front of the car. Apparently, unless you return the car in a condition that is ready for the next customer, they will find a reason to charge you.
DiscoverCars offered no meaningful support and simply referred to WheeGo's contract.
I disputed the EUR 170 with my credit card issuer (ICS), submitted all the evidence, and the disputed amount was returned to me.
Avoid WheeGo at all costs. If you find yourself in the same situation, don't let them get away with it. Fight the charges!
Achtung Abzocke !!!!! Uważajcie na to zdzierstwo!!!!!
Achtung Abzocke !!!!!
Nach der Rückgabe wird es nach allen möglichen Schaden gesucht und wen die nichts finden wird behauptet dass man im Auto geraucht hat (233€) hat mich das gekostet.
Watch out for the rip-off!!!!!
After returning the car, they look for any possible damage, and if they don't find any, they claim you smoked in the vehicle—that cost me €233.
Uważajcie na to zdzierstwo!!!!!
Po zwrocie samochodu szukają jakichkolwiek uszkodzeń, a jeśli ich nie znajdą, twierdzą, że paliło się w pojeździe – mnie kosztowało to 233 euro.
