DO NOT USE!!

Cheap rental prices entice you in. When returning they found a MINOR paint scratch 40mm long on the lowest part of the rear bumper. The car had done over 40k miles, so probably had another 10 of these scratches not identified on the car log. I didn't push this as I didn't want the 1340zl charge to increase any more. The car had a few dents also which no doubt had been charged to previous customers to repair and not followed up on, despite the repair damage charges being applied. My advice is use one of the main stream rental companies such as Hertz or Enterprise. Slightly higher initial costs but WELL worth it in the long run due to these ridiculous claims and rental office locations.

Hired a car and the car was dirty on the inside. The guy apologised but is this what I paid for? Dropped the car off yesterday and nobody in the office until Tuesday because of the bank holiday. So 3 days after dropping my car off it will be checked!!!

WARNING — I believe I was scammed by this company

Unfortunately, I feel I was completely scammed by a member of staff at this company.

When I went to collect the rental vehicle, a member of staff was there. I presented my UK bank cards, including my credit card, but was told they could not be accepted because they only showed my first initial rather than my full first name.

I was then told that I would have to pay double for the rental and pay for a full tank of fuel in order to proceed.

What I find extremely suspicious is this: if my cards were genuinely unacceptable because they only displayed my first initial, then why were they suddenly acceptable once I agreed to pay double? If the cards were not valid, surely paying extra should not have changed that.

I also paid for a full tank of fuel, despite the fact that I never used it. I returned the vehicle with approximately half a tank remaining, so I was effectively charged for fuel that I never used.

When I returned the vehicle, there was nobody there. I therefore had no opportunity to speak to anyone about the fuel or the charges in person.

Trying to resolve everything afterwards by email was an absolute nightmare. Getting a response was extremely difficult, and despite raising my concerns and questioning whether these charges were lawful, my concerns were not properly addressed.

The whole experience has left me feeling completely ripped off. The explanation regarding my cards, the fact that I was charged double for the rental, being charged for a full tank of fuel that I didn't use, and the lack of any staff member available when I returned the vehicle are all extremely concerning.

I strongly warn anyone considering using this company to be extremely careful. Check the terms and conditions thoroughly, question any additional charges, and make sure you understand exactly what you are being charged for before proceeding.

In my opinion, the circumstances surrounding these charges need to be investigated. I would not use this company again and would strongly advise others to think twice before booking with them.

Weego @ Krakow airport - beware!

Picking car up from Krakow airport was a problem as what they don’t tell you is the min bus to pick you up does not have their name on it. That meant I had to wait 45 mins+ with a couple of phone calls to office before I was picked up. I was warned by some other people in the mini bus when they saw who we were using to avoid them as they had been hit with a £1000 charge for something they didn’t do. When I handed the car back there was a problem as the guy managed to find 2 very minor problems which I’m sure were not due to any fault of mine. There were so many scratches and scuffs of the car it would have been impossible to spot everything. They have since kept my £1464 deposit and I’m now waiting to hear back about how much they are planning to charge me for some damage which would probably cost £10 to fix.
Overall a very bad experience and if I go back to Krakow again I certainly will not use this company. Everyone else beware before you book.

Avoid!

Avoid!! I was scammed at gdansk airport. They get you to book with their low prices and then make you buy the extra insurance. The guy literally refused to let us leave with the car unless we bought the extra insurance for almost the same price as the actual car hire. Literally refused to process our booking. He said they’ve got the money for the booking now and if I ring booking.com they won’t give me a refund so I either pay for the extra insurance or no car and lose my booking money. I told them I’m not paying any more than what I’ve already paid and went to another company to hire a car. Wheego are criminal.

Hired a car from Malega Airport

Hired a car from Malega Airport, the hire rate seemed very reasonable. When we arrived at the hire shop, the car was upgraded and we were asked to increase the insurance for the car. We didn't appect the insurance as this was very high. We did have a charge of €900 charged to our credit card. We noticed the car had damage and told the staff, there we not interested in the damage just said take photos, which we did. When we returned the car we were not aware of any damage, but on inspection one of the staff found a slight scratch on the tailgate that could only be seen in direct sunlight. We disputed this warranted any charge considering the larger damage to the car. As we had a plane to catch we left it and the member of staff said there may be a small charge. When we returned home the €900 charge was taken in full and although we went through our credit card provider to dispute and contacted the claim directly we have not had any refund and would advise to avoid this company, we feel completely ripped off by this company.

Scammers!!! You will pay much more!!!!

I had a very disappointing experience with Wheego Car Rental in Vilnius.

When I rented the car, nobody informed me that even a small speeding violation could result in the vehicle being blocked. After a minor speeding incident, my rental car was blocked for 3 days, leaving me without transport when I urgently needed it.

The customer support advertises itself as available 24/7, but when I called on a Sunday, I was simply told that although they operate 24/7, nobody could actually help because it was Sunday. That completely defeats the purpose of having 24/7 support.

On top of that, the insurance was extremely expensive, and despite paying for it, they still took a €200 deposit. I was told the deposit would be returned within two weeks, but it took more than three weeks.

Overall, I found the communication poor, the customer service unhelpful, and the policies were not properly explained before the rental. I wouldn’t recommend this company based on my experience. If you want save your nerves, time and be stress less, use normal world wide known companies.

I would give minus 5 stars to this…

I would give minus 5 stars to this company. They are nothing but scammers & thieves! I hired a car from wheego at East Midlands Airport. I had an email from them giving specific instructions when I arrived at East Midlands Airport to go to rapid drop off phone their number & someone would come & pick me up & better still it was written in red on the email!! They refused to pick me up & instructed me to catch a bus to Pegasus Retail Park. So I caught a bus which cost me £6 they didn’t tell me which hotel I had to go to, to pick up the hire car. Eventually after trying different hotels a lovely receptionist/manager from Premier Inn found out where I was supposed to be to pick up my hire care, it was the Regus Hotel.
My car hire payment went up to over £800 instead of the £500 plus I was expecting to pay. I also paid £300 holding fee on my credit card which I would get back when I returned the car. Before I drove away I went around the car & videoed it there was a slight dent on the back left of the vehicle. When I returned the vehicle there was no one in the office so I posted the key fob in a postbox he showed me when I picked up the hire car. As I turned to walk away the so called “manager” arrived. He walked all the way around the car inspecting it & everything was fine. He said once he had inspected the inside the car to make sure everything was okay. I returned the car with a full tank of petrol & in pristine condition. I was told I would receive an email from him in approximately one hour & that my £300 would be reimbursed to my credit card. I have to date not received an email from him nor has my £300 been accredited back to my credit card. I have sent two emails to him asking for my £300 back to no avail. This company Wheego are nothing but scammers & thieves and I will be taking the matter further!!!!
I would never use Wheego ever again & I would never recommend them to family, friends & the public in general!!!!

Absolute scammers

Absolute scammers. They offer low prices on paper but then they don’t hand over the keys unless you pay an additional insurance which is more expensive than the rental itself. They use every excuse and ridiculous terms like specific name formats required on your credit card. Customer service over the counter at the Gdansk airport was next level of unprofessionalism and incompetence.

Expensive and stiff

Wheego appeared to be competitively priced, but my experience was extremely disappointing. At Warsaw Airport, I was informed that my credit card had to display both my full first and last name to secure the deposit. After more than 20 years of renting cars worldwide, I had never encountered this requirement. Because my card shows only initials and my surname, I was pressured into purchasing additional coverage and services costing nearly €400.
While the staff remained polite, there was little empathy or flexibility. The interpretation of this requirement more than doubled the cost of my rental and turned the beginning of my vacation into a stressful and expensive experience. Never again!

Worst car rental company I have ever…

Worst car rental company I have ever dealt with. Avoid them! I booked this car rental company through Booking.com, but the experience was extremely disappointing and felt like a deliberate attempt to extract additional money from customers. At the time of collecting the car, they found an excuse to refuse the rental agreement—in my case, they claimed that my full name was not printed on my credit card. This requirement was not made clear when I made the booking.
Knowing that finding another rental car at the last minute is difficult, they used the situation to pressure me into paying significantly more, presenting additional insurance as the only practical solution.

This feels like a predatory business practice: create an issue at the point of car collection, when the customer has very few alternatives, and then demand additional payment.
I strongly recommend avoiding this company and carefully checking all their terms and conditions before booking. I would also recommend Booking.com to delist this rental company from their platform because of their malpractices.

AVOID AVOID AVOID

AVOID AVOID AVOID! I have been renting cars for decades, I even used to work for a rental company, which always made me wary of these excess charges. Well, even at most most aware, I was still caught-out. I let my guard down when dropping off the car, then, almost like magic, two scratches appear on the car on the blind side to where I was. The person working there brought my attention straight to these, even though the car had many many scratches and dents not listed on the damage report. I checked the car 30mins prior to drop-off, as we went to a shopping center; what I do each time I go back to a rental car having parked it in a parking lot. They were not there then and I know they were done by Wheego. The scratches were not consistent with driving. They were made with a blunt object, like a key, intentionally. they were jagged. I ran my finger over them and some paint was on my finger. Even when I said to the person in Wheego, he didn't deny it. He shrugged and said "nothing I can do" as I didn't have pictures to prove I didn't do them. Luckily I had excess insurance but it spoiled the end of a lovely family holiday. Then I get a damage report with exorbitant costs on it. This guy no doubt got a bonus for his actions, well, no good and misfortune will come of it.

Avoid! Never use!!

Avoid! Avoid! If you want to experience actual hell on earth, use this company!

* Just one hour after picking up the rental vehicle, it broke down in the middle of the road due to thick smoke and a severe burning smell.
* Despite reporting the emergency, I was left stranded for over four hours with zero updates, while customer service repeatedly told me to just wait.
* After the car was finally towed, they completely failed to provide any replacement vehicle, forcing me to take a taxi and miss an important business schedule.
* To make matters worse, they refused to refund my security deposit, and I had to fly back home without a resolution.
* Two months later, they abruptly hit me with outrageous charges for towing and vehicle repairs while still withholding my deposit.
* When I tried to resolve the issue, the staff played ignorant and rudely told me never to call them again.
* Outraged by their terrible behavior, I officially disputed the charges and filed a credit card chargeback.
* After a 60-day battle, I successfully won the dispute and recovered my funds.
This was hands down the absolute worst, most appalling service I have ever experienced in my life. Avoid this company at all costs under any circumstances.
I have 100% irrefutable evidence backing up every single word of this review, including full call recordings of the rude staff, email threads, and the official credit card chargeback victory decision.
