Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 10,670 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers consistently found the website easy to use and navigate, making the process of obtaining quotes and setting up policies straightforward. Many people appreciated the competitive pricing, often finding policies significantly cheaper than other providers or renewal quotes, offering excellent value for money. The service received was frequently described as professional and helpful, with representatives being patient and providing clear information. However, some customers also noted issues with the online process, such as auto-filled information being incorrect or difficulties accessing documents due to password problems. A few other people also felt that quotes obtained directly from the company's website were sometimes more expensive than those found on comparison sites, and some experienced price increases after initially getting a quote.

Bought car insurance online direct from AA website. Easy to use and complete questions. Some times I have ended up having to phone companies for help or further information. Not this time completed questions requested quote and then bought.

What a debacle! How I rue the day I switched to AA Motor Insurance! A few weeks after I signed up to AA, a man in a van decided to switch lanes and hit me from the rear driver’s side and travel along the side of my car, culminating in smashing my front mirror off. He pulled over and was absolutely lovely, as he clearly knew what had happened. It was, unfortunately, a company van, and the company refused to accept liability - as far as I know!

This was a cut and dried case of someone changing lanes without checking properly, and ramming into a vehicle already on the inside lane.

I have had to attempt to wring any information I needed out of the AA, and it has been akin to getting blood from a stone. Every single step of the way has been absolutely torturous, with the case (as far as I know, because nobody will answer me!) remaining unresolved. They have not even responded to my formal complaint of their handling of the case, other than sending a standard acknowledgment. Even the repair company they sent me to was dreadful (Alton Cars), with me losing about five days in total waiting for them to turn up when they said they would, which they very rarely did.

Next stop - Ombudsman. I am absolutely disgusted with the AA, who have very happily let me fork out £350 in excess fees because somebody else ran into my car, without ever voluntarily providing any information whatsoever.

I most certainly do NOT recommend this insurance company. This is the first claim I have ever made in over 40 years of driving without causing so much as a scratch to another vehicle, and I expect much, much better.

UPDATE:

I see AA have sent a standard reply to my review without addressing any of the issues I mentioned.

This incident happened in early December 2025, was completely straight forward, and should have been resolved a long time ago. Instead, as I said, not ONCE have they voluntarily informed me what was going on, and I think have only replied to one of my questions after much prompting.
In addition, it has now been over eight weeks since I made my complaint, and I have heard absolutely nothing, which is why I am now referring to the Ombudsman.

AA - when you add your insipid responses to these reviews, make sure you actually read what has been written first, look at the case file, then reply accordingly. Your response to my review has only served to cement my disgust in you.

Hi there, we’re sorry you’ve been left feeling this way. Our Claims team will be doing everything they can to get this resolved as quickly as possible, but they do need to fully investigate liability, verify any medical information, and work with a number of third parties before a decision can be reached. If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to get back in touch with them.

Complaints can take up to 8 weeks to be resolved, although it’s often sooner. As soon as an outcome has been reached, the team will be in touch to let you know. We hope you're okay and that this is resolved as quickly as possible.
