Hobbiesville Ottawa doesn’t want your business, nor do they appreciate it

Hobbiesville Ottawa, Somerset location.

I ordered 20 Pokémon Lucario Mega Figure Collection Boxes in August, limit of 2, but they were not all for me.

Hobbiesville takes my money and keeps it for two months.

Then 3 days before the launch, they cancel and refund all my products except 2.

I told them, why didn’t you cancel earlier? I’d understand if it happened within a week.

But no, they kept my over $1,000 for close to 3 months as a free loan and then cancelled my orders.

I then asked them to cancel the remaining 2 as their prices were not only inflated for the release compared to Walmart and other retailers.

So I asked them to cancel the next day after that email, prior to the release.

They didn’t respond until the next week and charged me a 10% restocking fee, stating, “oh we didn’t see your email so a 10% restocking fee applies.”

This isn’t the first issue I’ve had with Hobbiesville.

In 2023 I ordered a Star Wars figure for a friend; they lost it twice. I went into the store and they had the wrong figure, wasted my time multiple times until I said, can you just swap it for a different one.

Then, I was provided a gift card for the difference in product value via customer support. When I followed up with customer support a month or so later about another inquiry and asked if they could add the gift card funds to my account, they cancelled the gift card.

Then, I bought a few inexpensive singles on a Sunday and asked them to cancel a few as I already had them. The same day, mind you. They told me they couldn’t, gave me a big fuss about it, all before the items were even processed or shipped. Another bunch of emails back and forth for such an easy fix…

That’s not all. I bought a very expensive Leafeon VMAX Special Illustration Rare for my collection. It was listed in near-mint condition. When I received it, it had a literal cut at the top of the card. I asked to return it, sent images, and mentioned I would even drop it back off at the store so they didn’t have to pay shipping (it came from the Toronto location). They gave me the runaround for over a week to approve this issue that they caused.

I’ve spent over $10,000 in product from their store since they opened, and this is how they treat their customers.

Their emails are unapologetic, don’t address your concerns, and make you think you’re the problem, when they are really one of the most unprofessional organizations in this space.

Spend your hobby dollars elsewhere. This store doesn’t value you, your time, or your business.

Bought 200$ worth of pokemon card

Bought 200$ worth of pokemon card, (already overpriced btw). Took de protrction in case if something happen, never got the order. They made it closr to impossible to get my money back, telling me that i cant buy there anymore with a protection, asked for picture of my account with sensible info, never returned my phone call. Jason did everything he can to make this process the longer and miserable possible. Tell me he will finally refund in my account and did not, closed the live chat straight into my face. I was so speachless that I recorded phone call and took lots or proof for my bank cause they didnt want to do anything at first. Never again.

Customer Service is Virtually Non-Existent

The first major hurdle is their customer service. They operate on incredibly restrictive hours of 12 PM - 5 PM Canada time. If you are in the US, good luck reaching them during your working day. Their website chat is nearly useless, with lengthy delays.

Failure to Cancel an Order & Suspicious Shipping Speed

Minutes after placing an order, I realized I had accidentally selected the wrong Pokémon booster box version. I immediately tried to cancel it, leaving multiple messages via the chat at 1 PM, 2 PM, 4 PM, and then again at 7 AM the next morning.

When I finally reached someone, I was told to email my order number. Despite sending multiple emails the same day, they still shipped my order incredibly fast after my initial cancellation request. This speed is suspicious, as I've never seen any US-based order packed and shipped that quickly. Given that the company has a strict "no refund or returns on TCG orders" policy (which we all are aware of, and is the precise reason I tried to cancel ASAP), rushing the shipment after a cancellation request is highly unethical.

To add insult to injury, after the order shipped, I received an email stating they would only respond to my issue 2 to 3 business days later. When I tried calling, the line was always busy.

Scalper Pricing and Disregard for Customers

I am now stuck with a product I didn't want, and I am down $312 USD for a booster box that only costs around $160. Hobiesville is charging scalper pricing, and their terrible customer service and rigid policies ensure customers are left with no recourse.

Stores like this actively discourage people from getting into or staying in the Pokémon TCG hobby. Please tread very carefully when shopping from them. The stress, inconvenience, and financial loss are simply not worth the risk.

Scammed by pre opened scalping at hobbiesville.com …

I found an item in Hobbiesville that was sold out in 401 games. I figured I'd buy a pathfinder booster brick to boost the price to get free shipping and it was one I wanted a few things from. Hobbiesville.com advertised it as a full booster brick and after confirming the order sent a followup email saying they only had 7 out of 8 boxes and refunded the cost of one. I figured they opened the brick to sell one and the other 7 were still from the same original sealed brick. I was wrong. I found 7 individual blind boxes and opened them. Some we're a bit damaged some were pre opened by the tape being cut or missing and one had a few hairs inside on one of the miniatures. The pulls show that they are from 3 different bricks and all of the high value pulls are missing. Someone went through the boxes for the desirable and high value miniatures and closed up and sold the rest at full price with false advertising as a full sealed brick. Never doing business here again. I dont want to waste a moment on this business outide of warning others you will be scammed. Always had good experiences with 401 and im keeping it that way.

Damaged Products Delivered

I ordered the Worlds at a Glance Towns and Villages box set. Received a damaged box unable to support the contents, a ripped and damaged box upon arrival, along with a damaged, unsealed book inside. After contacting them the same day as arrival, I was told they don't offer replacements of cosmetically damaged goods. As noted, it's far greater than just cosmetic. After pointing this out, I was offered a 5% discount on my next purchase. I am still looking for a replacement for the damaged product I have received.

Hobbiesville is a joke

Hobbiesville is a joke. I ordered from them an Union Arena Hunter x Hunter Booster box Case ( 16 Booster Boxes). Before ordering i specifically asked them if its gonna be safely packaged into an extra box they answer yes.Well it wasnt. The first problem came with the shipping method i paid for DHL EXPRESS WORLDWIDE them they sent me a Fedex tracking number for a Fedex shipping method that is a third of the price i paid for shipping and 10 day slover. Of course i contacted them. They said its gonna be solved. Well it took almost a week then i got my DHL tacking number but the weight and dimension of the package didn check out they wanted to send me somebody elses order. So i had to contact them again to sort it out. Well today atleast my Booster Box Case arrived without the extra box packaging and half of the Booster boxes inside had dented sides and corners. If you want to save yourself from a headache and communicating with dumb support people and want you order not to arrive damaged dont order from them.

Slow Shipping

Slow Shipping - Takes about 4-5 business days (about a week) for them to ship out orders. So keep that in mind when ordering. Also, pray that you don't have an issue with the items. They pack well and you will get what you ordered, but this last time they shipped some damaged boxes (the shipping box was very secure so they were damaged in the warehouse before they shipped it for sure) but they refused to acknowledge that could possibly happen. They did not even want to look at pics. They just told me I had to buy insurance if i wanted it covered.. but this is not shipping damage, this is them shipping me something that was already damaged. They had me file a report with Canada Post to try and get insurance back that way and told me I was out of luck. Sorry but you can't ship people damaged stuff and say that it was damaged by the postal company.
