Modern ways of working?
It was my first experience of working with Equilaw. The service was competent and very cost effective but was not what I would expect from a client/lawyer relationship. I do recognise that my view may be behind the times and that the modern processes undermine the personal relationship that was a fundamental to the lawyer/client relationship of my past. For example, although teach email had a direct dial number, I never had the writer of the email answer the call. They were always answered but by a central switch board (an old fashioned word) who tok good messages but could not put me through to the person to whom I wanted to speak. My issues were dealt with by a email, admittedly on a prompt basis, but when I tried to call to clarify the issues and, in my case, look to accelerate the process, I found myself in the same loop.
I assume this is a practice based on home based solicitors.
The service achieved everything I needed but the absence of a personal relationship left me feeling “vulnerable”. Until the exercise was completed, I was never confident it would be completed on time.
I stress that everything went smoothly in the end but in a 40 year career in which I instructed lawyers on at least a monthly basis, I always felt part of the team with my lawyer. This may not be the modern way.

My initial contact was Luke Mudway.
Both he and the solicitor who visited were both competent and professional.
I would recommend Equilaw to assist with equity release as they specialise in this area. The whole process was completed within 4 weeks.
