Misleading Fees
What I dislike most about E-File is their hidden and non-disclosed fees. You think you are paying ONE reasonable fee, only to get hit with a much higher fee at the end. There is no transparency with them. The stated cost of the service was $42.63 to file a tax return, and then, at the end, they charged an additional fee of $53.29 bring the total cost of file from the quoted $42.63 to a cost of $95.92. Integrity is everything, and they do not show they have anything. This is the last time I will EVER use them. There are too many other providers who will not screw you over.

I am very sorry for any confusion with this. Here is what I can see from your account:
It appears that you originally qualified for our Basic software and filed for free.
Then, once you needed to amend this return, there was a $39.99 charge (this is the cost for our amended tax software).
Unfortunately, the form that you added to your filing (a 1099-C) is not covered with the original software that you used or by the amended software, and thus you were upgraded to our Premium software which covers this form. The cost for this was $49.99.
Again, I apologize for the confusion with this. As a courtesy, we have gone ahead and refunded you the fee for our Premium Software ($49.99 + tax).

Keep it Simple Tax Filing with E-File
After researching several online tax preparation websites, I chose E-File due to its clear and simplistic design. Step by step directions are easy to follow and understand…even for a novice filing their first tax return. I had an immediate email confirming the process, and the following day another email informing me that my return had been accepted by the IRS. Highly recommend E-File!

It guides you through all the steps to do your taxes and state taxes if you need to. I only have one job so it only takes me 20 minutes to electronic file my taxes. So so easy and free for me!!!
