I had a really positive experience at Boots Opticians. From start to finish, the team was incredibly helpful, kind, and professional.
My eye test was carried out by Angie, who was absolutely wonderful. She clearly knows her field inside out and carried out the test with great care and expertise, making me feel completely at ease throughout.
I’d also like to give a special thanks to Adriano, such a lovely and approachable young man. He supported me throughout the whole process and made everything smooth and stress-free.
Overall, a fantastic experience thanks to a truly caring and professional team. I would highly recommend this branch!

"My recent visit to Boots for an eye examination and a hearing test was, without doubt, the most productive and pleasant experience I have ever had at this establishment. I saw Dr Fowler for my eye check-up and James for my hearing assessment, and it was a genuine pleasure to deal with them both. Dr Fowler provided clear, easily understood explanations; she consistently goes out of her way to put you at ease and make the visit enjoyable. Furthermore, following my consultation with James, I have come away with a renewed determination to wear my hearing aids regularly and finally make them a part of my daily life—something I have struggled with for years. I cannot recommend their care highly enough."

Why oh why can’t Boots use your original frames without it costing you only £5 less than buying the same frames again for your new prescription. Money making con- shame on you Boots

From the moment I came in for my appointment I was given prompt attention and the staff were all very courteous and helpful. This included the young lady who did my initial scans, the optician and the young lady who helped me choose my new frames.

After my visit today I can't praise optometrist Yasmine Sahraie enough for the care, thorough eye check and indepth explanation for my eye problem months after my cataract surgery for inner angle closure and the help with products and ongoing care of my now aftercare. Thank you for completely putting my mind at ease. Always welcomed into store too with a friendly smile especially Ruby.

Initially went into Boots Opticians, Clifton Moor, York with a pair of spectacles that needed a minor repair. The female staff representative took my glasses into their offices and invited me to either wait or go shopping. After 15 minutes or so I returned and the lady asked me to sit so she could site the glasses to my face. A senior technician overheard my conversation and invited me for an emergency sitting that afternoon, he had become worried for me about some of the symptoms I was experiencing. Although I had purchased the glasses from them over three months earlier I chanced a question, 'Can I still get a second pair of glasses for half price?' The lady said she would go ask. This she did and came back stating that Boots would indeed let me have a second pair at half the original cost. Following my interview with the technician and a set of tests I sat with another lady who calculated the price to me of the second pair. A quotation above the cost of my original glasses. I stated that the price was too high and in no way represented the half price I was expecting. I excused myself and left. I received a text from Boots wanting to know how my experience went with them. I wrote something along the lines of this review. After two phone calls from 'Adrian' I was asked if I would like to return to the shop where I could choose a second pair for half price. This I did and the process went swimmingly, thank you Robyn and Sarah.

After buying some lovely sunglasses last year from Boots in Leighton Buzzard, I decided to have my 2 yearly checkup with Boots rather then Spec-savers where I usually go.
My sunglasses only needed the lenses changed, and I ordered a pair of glasses for driving. (I also needed 2 pairs of reading glasses but was too expensive in Boots )
Total cost with all the tests was Over £450! I went ahead and paid but decided to pop into Spec-savers a couple of doors down to get my reading glasses. I was still in shock over the price I had just paid so showed my receipt to the specsavers assistent. On every item Boots was more expensive then Spec-Savers. e.g. Eye Scan - Boots £25 / Specsavers £10.
I ended up cancelling my driving glasses from Boots and ordering a pair in Specsavers. I could not cancel my sunglasses from Boots so excepted the cost but then they couldn't even get the delivery date right - told me Monday, then told me Wednesday, in the end it was over a week later then what I had been told.
I'll stick to specsavers in future where I had been going for over 20 years and never had a problem, good prices and good service

Service matter most when something goes wrong. When my lovely new (yet expensive!) Silhouettes (both regular and a pair of sunglasses) came back, I found on the drive home that distance vision had deteriorated.
So I went straight back to the store where your team member Johnny rapidly diagnosed the likely issue (an error with the script in one eye) and reassured me that the problem would be able to be addressed.
I was soon booked in for an examination to confirm the problem, and it wasn’t long before fresh lenses arrived and were fitted.
I really appreciate the care the whole team took to ensure the outcome was nothing short of perfect. Johnny’s attention to detail was key.
Thanks!
Andy

Lovely, friendly, caring and professional staff! I came in for an emergency type appointment as thought I had something stuck in my eye. I had already been to other opticians and been sent away without care. Boots got me registered and got me a free appointment the following morning. Very thorough and lots of reassurance given from all staff. 100% recommend.

As usual the individual care and professionalism was excellent.

Have had such a problem with new glasses. Have only worn them a week since buying them 2 months ago! They just DO NOT suit me and lenses are not right at all. Despite a few tweaks.
Staff have been lovely and have tried their best but somehow the glasses are still not not right.
Have not been able to say why they dont suit but today MICHAEL was really helpful. He gave me some information about sizing that I've never been given in 30 years! It seemed to make sense so I look forward to next year when I can use that info to help me get some glasses that I like .
Also they are still trying to sort out my initial pair.....I had to buy another pair that I could actually use....and these are fine.....hence the conversation re sizing
I must say the staff have all been very patient!

I was very disappointed with the service my son and I received when collecting his first pair of glasses from Boots Opticians.
The purpose of the appointment was for an optician to check the fit of my son’s new glasses and make any necessary adjustments. However, the person who attended us (I believe the name on his badge was Ahmad) appeared extremely inexperienced and gave no indication that he was an optician. In fact, he did not introduce himself at all. When I asked when an optician would be seeing us, he replied, “I’m an optician.”
The appointment did not inspire confidence. He initially addressed my son by his surname, which I considered a minor mistake, but it quickly became apparent that he seemed unsure of what to do next. Throughout the appointment, a sales assistant repeatedly had to guide him and tell him what steps to take. It genuinely felt as though he was either on his first day or still in training.
When my son first put on his glasses, they immediately slid down his nose. Rather than checking the fit and making adjustments, the optician simply commented that the glasses looked great. I had to point out that they clearly did not fit properly and ask whether they were going to be adjusted. Given that this was the entire purpose of the appointment, I found this surprising.
I even showed him an identical pair that had previously been adjusted to fit my son correctly and asked whether he could make the new pair sit in the same way. His response was that the other glasses had been adjusted for a different child, which completely missed the point. My concern was that those glasses fitted my son correctly.
After attempting an adjustment, the two sides of the glasses appeared noticeably different. When I asked whether both sides should look roughly the same, he did not answer my question and instead repeatedly told me that I could come back later if the fit was not right. I had to ask the question again before receiving a direct response. The overall impression was that he was not listening carefully and was unsure of how to assess or adjust the fit properly.
Eventually, after several attempts, the glasses sat more securely on my son’s face, although I am still not convinced they have been adjusted correctly.
What surprised me further was that the final vision check was carried out by a sales assistant rather than the optician. She handed my five-year-old son a sheet of text and asked him to read a paragraph, despite the fact that he is only just learning to read. I ended up checking his vision myself by asking him to identify individual letters.
This was an important milestone for my child—receiving his first pair of glasses—and I expected a professional, reassuring experience. If the optician was still in training, that should have been made clear from the start, and a more experienced colleague should have supervised the appointment. Instead, we left feeling uncertain about whether the glasses had been fitted correctly and disappointed by the overall lack of professionalism.
Unfortunately, this experience fell well below the standard I expected from Boots Opticians.

I was very happy with my eye test, the optometrist was lovely and very friendly. I ordered a new pair of designer glasses but I was a bit disappointed I wasn't informed when they were ready to collect and also I thought designer glasses came with their own presentation case not a Boots one.

The optician who did my actual eye test was excellent - she was lovely, polite, considerate, articulate, informative. Absolutely 5 stars for her. But the pre-test and additional scans (for which I paid £50) were really not up to standard. When the optician looked at my most expensive scan - the Optimap - it was not adequate as half of the image for both eyes had been obscured by my eyelid, begging the question, why did the young woman tasked with doing those scans not spot that when they were being taken? It suggests that she was not properly trained. The result was that I had to go back and be scanned again - surely a waste of everybody's time. But when I went back for the re-scan, the young man operating the optimal scanner seemed unable to get it to work. Whether that was a fault on the machine or again perhaps his lack of training I couldn't tell, but the end result was I spent about twenty minutes waiting for them to get the thing to work - rebooting it etc. To be fair both young people were very polite and personable but I was left feeling that neither of them were quite up to the job - which isn't their fault but absolutely the responsibility of Boots to ensure that their staff are fully trained and able to make the technology work properly.
I should also add that the headrest for the OCT scanner seemed to be held together with brown peeling sellotape - I kid you not. It looked very tatty, and although that scan was fine, if a customer is paying £50 for the privilege than it's not a look that fills you with confidence. Some serious attention needs to be paid to both the kit and the training of the junior staff of this particular branch of Boots Opticians.
