I had previously left a negative review re fees and charges for amendments and cancellation. I was promptly contacted by customer services who did offer a partial refund as a gesture of goodwill. I was of course grateful for this offer and will receive £35 back out of £85 fees that were charged. Customer service maintained that the fee was inline with their policy but I just felt that they should re look at this as £85 of fees to change a REG and cancel is ALOT.
I do still maintain that simple amendments should be able to be done online without being penalised with a fee like many other insurance providers offer. This, I feel, would be more fair and lead to customer loyalty and retention.
I can see that fees seems to be a common disgruntlement from customers from previous reviews and it’s a shame that this company don’t seem to listen to these reviews as they probably would retain ALOT more customers if they did.
I therefore have amended my review to mid stars rather than one star. I do appreciate the company reaching out and partially resolving my complaint.

They took out our money for auto renewal, even though we said we didn’t want auto Renew! They said we have to wait 7 days to get our money back. Still no refund after a week , Second phone call and the say we have to wait another 7 days
We are pensioners and can’t afford to be messed about like this, money is very short for us , but they don’t care. I’m disgusted with this company. You took it out at a click of a button , but takes you 2 weeks to put it back . Absolutely ridiculous. Beware of this company, it’s shameful.

Very easy to get cover online. Easy site to navigate and saved over £100 with tool insurance included. As renewing insurance goes it was a pleasant experience.

Update: following my one-star review, Zenith gave me an email address that actually allowed me to speak to a person, and a £45 additional refund. That's nice of them and I updated my review as a result. However, the issue remains that if a company is going to rely on an online chat system to communicate with all customers who can't use the phone, then their chat system should actually work.
I paid over £300 for my van insurance. When I needed to cancel after 4 months, the refund was just over £13. I have been trying to query this for weeks, but the online support team is *never* available - you either have to "try again later", or you get put on hold waiting so long for someone to answer that the system logs you out, and you have to start all over again. The telephone team is only open during regular working hours, when I am at work. I know that insurance companies make it as hard as possible to get any money out of them, but I have *never* received such poor customer care from *any* company in 30 years of driving.

A very pragmatic online process. Compared to others Zenith appear more readily accessible for direct contact too which gives customer reassurance.

Our renewal quote included hefty "Admin Fee" that made Zenith uncompetitive so 3 weeks before renewal we phoned to cancel. Spoke to a computer - who wanted us to wait 15 minutes to speak to a human. We renewed elsewhere thru a comparison site (that included a much cheaper quote from Zenith) - but they then later advised we had another policy - while Zenith wrote to say our payment had (thankfully) declined (or they would be taking money off the refund - including a £50 Admin Fee). Now they want to charge us a part Premium (do you think you're insured if you don't pay ?) and an Admin Fee. This is an American company with American business practices - smile at you while its working for them and bite you when it isn't. BE WARNED
