What a wonderful course!
I completed the in-person Yoga Teacher Training in January and had a fantastic experience. First and foremost, I want to highlight our tutors Annie, David, and Somita who were absolutely brilliant. They’re incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely welcoming.
The course structure includes learning to teach group classes safely and effectively, completing yoga theory workbooks, maintaining a yoga journal, and passing an anatomy exam. The six in-person days were primarily focused on teaching asanas, with some theory covered, but most of the theoretical learning is done independently through your own research. This can be time-consuming, especially when combined with anatomy exam revision. You won’t be learning hundreds of asanas or flow sequencing in depth, but you will develop a progressive 10-week lesson plan using a curated selection of postures.
One downside is the online learning platform, it’s quite clunky and confusing to navigate. Much of the information feels hidden within modules, and I often had to follow up with student services to get my submitted work marked as completed. I officially finished the course in June with just one referral (which cost an additional £25), and my deposit was returned the following month. It’s also worth noting that this course is not affiliated with Yoga Alliance or the British Wheel of Yoga.
That said, this course provided a strong foundation for my teaching career and gave me the confidence to begin leading classes. The credit truly goes to the incredible tutors, whose dedication, time, and patience with each student made all the difference.

I recently completed my yoga teacher training with YMCA FIT and can’t recommend it enough! From start to finish, the course was well-structured, engaging, and full of valuable content — but the real highlight for me was my online tutor, Smita.
Smita went above and beyond to make the learning experience not only educational but also uplifting. Her teaching style was clear, encouraging, and deeply inspiring. She took the time to answer questions thoroughly, gave constructive feedback, and always made me feel supported, even when I doubted myself. Her warmth and genuine passion for yoga shone through in every interaction, creating a safe and motivating space to grow.
Whether it was guiding me through complex postures, deepening my understanding of yoga philosophy, or simply checking in with kindness, Smita’s support was unwavering. She helped me build the confidence I needed to move forward as a teacher.
If you’re thinking about training as a yoga teacher, I wholeheartedly recommend YMCA FIT — and if you’re lucky enough to have Smita as your tutor, you’re in for something truly special. Thank you for an unforgettable journey!

The Tutors were great, and made sure none of us were behind, or unaware of what we were doing throughout the course. The tutor Trevor, was especially friendly and extremely helpful.

I have really enjoyed this course from start to finish. I decided to take the online version of the level 3 yoga instructor course. 07/06/25-25/07/25. From enrolling to completing the course, everything has been brilliant and well communicated. The course itself fitted perfectly around my life commitments and was at a pace of learning that suited me. The contents of the course were engaging and informative and instructions of how to teach yoga were clearly demonstrated.
My course tutor was Smita Raja and I can't thank her enough for being a wonderful teacher and mentor. Everything has been explained in an insightful and interesting way, from the practical application in the teaching environment to the philosophical side to yoga and how that can also be applied to every day life. Feedback on homework has been incredibly helpful and she really does genuinely want us to be the best we can be in our practice.
I would highly recommend this course!

I've just completed and passed the level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing & Personal Training course. A major factor in me doing so was my amazing and brilliant tutors, Trisha White and Trevor Clarke. They were both so knowledgable and giving of their time, especially Trisha as I came onto the course with very limited understanding of the anatomy, physiology and nutrition knowledge to pass but Trisha explained it a way that made it easier to understand and remember. I have just started in a PT role and I am already using the skills and top tips shared with me, so thank you!

I did my yoga teacher training with the YMCAFit between January and March this year, and I'm glad I picked their course!
The tutors Annie, David and Smita are brilliant, and I'm very grateful for what I learned from them. They push you to do your best work both in terms of practical and theoretical sides of yoga, and I thoroughly enjoyed my weekends training with them.
On top of that, this course offers you a Level 3 and CIMSPA accreditation, which is rare to find for yoga teacher training, as most of the courses out there are only validated by the Yoga Alliance, which isn't an officially qualifications body. This is the main factor that led me to choose the YMCAFit, as accreditation is very important for me.
The only downside is the eLearning platform, inconsistent communication from the Student Support Team, and the quality of the content that the YMCAFit puts on there. It caused me a lot of headaches, but I got there in the end. They need to improve on that, and I have provided them feedback on my experience and suggestions for improvement, as I don't think it's fair to just say mean things in public without offering a solution, as you see with some reviews on here.
You have to be self-motivated to do this course and expect to work independently once the face-to-face days are over, as there's still a lot to do after that and you have to manage and prioritise your own time.
It is quite intense, so my advice is to only do this course if you are really invested in becoming a yoga teacher and you truly have the vocation/want to become a teacher.
If you just want to do this course for fun or to learn a little bit more about yoga, then I'm afraid this isn't a good investment for you, as it requires a lot of dedication and some financial investment. In that case search for workshops/read books or go on retreats, as you'll be better served if teaching isn't your vocation or something you'd like to do.
I might be back to the YMCAFit for CPD courses next year!

Tutors were great, punctual and friendly - Tim, Trisha and Trevor.
The content was covered well, it was a lot to take in but made relatively manageable.
Assessments were handled well.
My Enrolment advisor Rafaela was kind, friendly and helpful.
The venue choice could be better, slightly dated equipment and subpar WiFi for the classroom sessions.
Aptem is an interesting website to say the least, hope it gets updated to be more friendly as a few of my coursemates lost work randomly. And having the save button right at the bottom of long files is not the most user friendly option.

Very good and clear teacher shout out to Hannah

The physical lessons in the studio with Annie and David where great, really knowledgeable tutors and very approachable. The online learning system aptem, pretty diabolical. I didn't use student support much to comment. The marking system is also questionable but is that because of the aptem system used?

Don’t listen to the bad reviews. I have just completed my level 2 gym instructor and level 3 personal trainer course with YMCA and it was fantastic. It’s given me the confidence and ability to go into the outside world and be a great personal trainer. huge shoutout to my tutors Trish and Trevor who got me through the course. Without them I would’ve been lost.
If you’re thinking about doing it, go for it!
