Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I recently visited the Milton Keynes vets now during out of hours with a poorly hamster. I was greeted by lovely receptionists and a calm waiting area. Our wait was around 10-20 minutes and the vet was thorough, kind and sympathetic and gave us options for our pet swiftly.
We were prescribed medication but unfortunately after a few days he passed away. The vets were kind enough to consult with me over the phone about confirming the passing and what to do next. Couldn’t have asked for a better support system for me, my family and my pet. Would highly recommend!

The vets were all very friendly and they were quick to see our poorly dog, I rang them multiple times during the night for advice and they were so helpful and really put my mind at rest. They were fantastic.

The staff were so helpful and friendly and gave me lots of unsettling information in the kindest and most effective way possible. No one wants to be in an emergency situation with their beloved pet late at night, but Vets Now made it the best experience possible. My little boy cat is now home and recovering after several life threatening conditions arising from a blocked bladder. The communication from the vets was excellent throughout, and their knowledge and skill was second to none!
The only thing I would have liked more transparency on was the bill. I'm still not sure what I paid for with my deposit, as it was much larger than the excess on my insurance. I paid £250 which included an admin fee and 'some other bits and pieces', but at my local vets, the fee for the same service was £6! No one wants to think about money at a time like that, but it's really important to have clarity.

Although it turned out to be a non emergency I was really impressed by how kind everyone was ...my lurcher was displaying very strange symptoms which was quite worrying, however, he was fine!!

Very good , seen straight away and very helpful with explaining all options in laymens terms BUT did give some medication that wasn’t needed so turned out to be extremely expensive but necessary.

The treatment he received Sunday night caused heart failure. Metacam and gabepentin should not be given to cats with a heart condition. He was diagnosed Sunday with Arthritis and Monday had to be put down as fluid on lungs and heart failure worsened by medications. Vet on Monday was lovely however due to misdiagnosis Sunday led to his death

David was really friendly. He took the time to listen and asked plenty of questions. I sent a video of our tortoise to him during the consultation as her symptoms were on and off. He sent an email following the consultation, clarifying what we had discussed. He also included the details of a local vet who specialises in reptiles. I was more than happy with the service and David put my mind at rest. I made an appointment with the vet that David shared details of and our tortoise is now on a course of treatment.

We were met in the reception and taken into a room with our girl. We were left with her so we could give her all our love and say our goodbyes. The vet came in with a blanket for her and gave her her final injection. We covered her with the blanket and stayed with her until she passed away peacefully. At no time did we feel rushed, just allowed to take our time and were treated with the utmost care and respect throughout

I actually don't know where to start with this. Me and my husband could not be more appreciative or grateful for all the vet and his team did to save my dogs life after he became seriously ill during an operation. The stress they were under for 72 hours, the sheer amount they went above and beyond to get what my dog needed, the communication, the empathy, the understanding of our circumstances when I couldn't move my dog to emergency care by car, on collecting my dog the sheer outpouring of care for us was just beyond words. Their skills, knowledge and experience shone through and we absolutely could not be any more grateful than we are. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
