Great Barbour deal for US customers

I'm located in California, and I ordered a Barbour Ashby jacket from Urban Excess. The total cost including shipping was roughly half of what it would cost to buy from a US retailer, especially when you factor in sales tax. I think the shipping time was reasonable considering they are located in London—ordered Saturday, label created Monday evening UK time, in FedEx possession on Tuesday, and received in California on Friday. The item was well-packaged and clearly brand new. Was that a bit outside the 48 hour window to the US they specify? Yes, but still pretty fast considering the distance, and the retailer can't always control these things. One small thing was that the newsletter sign up link for 10% off in the banner doesn't seem to work—I never received an email or code. I'm still giving Urban Excess 5 stars due to the the incredible deal I got on a brand new Barbour jacket and pretty fast shipping. If I were to recommend improvements, I would remove the 10% off code offer (the deal is great anyway) and just say you offer FedEx Express with a more generous time estimate.

In breach of Consumer Contracts Regulations 2014

As per the title, this company is breaking the law regarding not refunding original postage charges on returned orders.
A consumer has 14 days from receipt of an order to initiate a refund which must include original postage paid.
When questioning my refund amount, they very bluntly told me 'they don't refund this cost' which is a breach of the regulation and in turn the law.
I have reported them to Citizens advise as they deal with all consumer/business problems now instead of trading standards.

Highly recommend

Highly recommend. I messed up my order and the customer service was fantastic, quickly rectified and very understanding. Love the item and arrived next day as stated when I ordered. Thank you so much for all your help.

Exceptionally poor customer service and delivery service. Ordered an item with next day delivery and I only got a notification that the item would be with me next week after I emailed through to ask where the item was. Will not be shipping here again.

Never again

I ordered from ruban excess for the first time and unfortunately found that they do not offer customer-friendly service. I have ordered an item by express, which should be delivered the next working day. I paid an extra fee for this. The goods arrived late (3 days). So I wrote to customer service and explained my problem. The answer came late and was very cheeky and customer-unfriendly. I will never order there again. there are much better, more competent and, above all, more customer-friendly online providers

Very poor service!

A company with a reputation like these have should not be taking money from customers for products they do not have in stock. It’s that simple.

All stock is counted I assume and there are IT systems in place which modify stock numbers from sales and deliveries so how are they still making these mistakes?

I am not the only person to have this Issue and for it to be blamed on an IT error as I can see from other reviews. Not only have they took my money for something they didn’t have, it took me to email them to find this out. A week later and I’m still waiting for my refund and any communication.

If you want a product don’t buy from these. Just google the same product and buy elsewhere. Or risk having your money taken and you having to do the leg work to get it back. Very disappointed. Expected better from Urban Excess

Avoid if you’re not in the UK!

One of my items didn’t fit and they wanted me to pay for return shipping even though the size description was not accurate. The promo code for email sign-up did not work either and they refused to refund the difference.

I was a little worried about shopping here for the first time, as I read some bad reviews and there are only a few reviews on trustpilot. But my order arrived promptly and was perfect, plus what I bought was cheaper than anywhere else.

AVOID!

cancelled my order last minute before christmas due to stock issues. Absolutely appealing should not have sold me the item with the belief of christmas delivery if they are unable to fitfully. My christmas present plans are in bits now. Shocking.

Unable to fulfil my order

After ordering, with expected next day delivery, I was disappointed when the delivery date was exceeded and there was no indication my order had even been sent.

After contacting the company they advised the item had been oversold and they didn’t have it in stock. I was asked to wait until the next day (now delivery date +2) to see if the item came in, it didn’t.

Again communication was pretty poor and I was advised they’d now try and order the item, which should arrive the next day. Again it didn’t and after chasing, and 5 days after I was meant to receive the item I just asked outright for a refund.

They were quick to organise this but overall I don’t think the order process is particularly well managed - I strongly suspect that if I hadn’t gotten in touch and pushed for a resolution that they wouldn’t have said anything.
