Felt ripped off. I recently bought Unwins Wildflower seed blend in a shop without reading the small print. It's 98.5% granulated chemical fertiliser, 1.5% unknown seed. Yes, they don't even tell... See more

Bought packet of Unwins Sweetcorn Lark F1 seeds. I have successfully grown sweetcorn from seed for the past 10 years. Always get 34 - 35 seeds germinating out of a packet. The Unwins only have 24 seeds in - of these at least 4 were just husks and looked like they would never do anything. Of the remaining only 3 ever germinated. Those 3 have grown well so clearly it is not about how I grew them but about the quality of the seeds - which did not look great as sson as I opened the packet. I will not be buying Unwins anything ever again.

Appallingly poor quality products and rude, condescending customer service staff! I have just received a half dead Phlox plant and, upon contacting Unwins to request a replacement, was advised that the plant purchased online could not be expected to perform the same as other plants because they are not forced?? The representative that I spoke to then advised me that he felt "slightly pressurised" when I told him that I was trying out several online suppliers in the hope of identifying a reliable supplier! Possibly the worst company I have ever dealt with! I just wish I'd read the wealth of terrible reviews before I ordered. Lesson learnt!

received a 5l blueberry plant bearing no resemblance to plant in website images and video.one old woody stem with no growth below 16 inches and 3 other stems with no growth below 14 inches. Complained and was told this is the standard for the 5l plants. if this is the case they are more than welcome to use the picture i sent them to advertise their 5l blueberry in the future, don't think this will be happening no one in their right mind would purchase one.

Agree with the recent reviews here .Placed my order for all my vegetable plants with this .Each pack had at least one rotten item .Ordered 3 pack of Cucumbers,2 were rotten .Customer Service refunded the cost (down to the penny!)but just advised no stock left so that’s the only solution .2 items never received. Will never use again

I wish I had read the reviews before ordering from Unwins. I recieved 3 Lemon Verbena plants in very poor condition but, hopefully, planted them, they were dead the next day. I also bought 3 Apple mint plants pretty much the same story, I have planted them but they do not look good. I was promised a replacement for the Verbenas but have not recieved them. I would not buy from these people again, the plants are very poor qualty and take ages to arrive.
(If you want really good quality plants try Norfolk Herbs, they are excellent.)

Cannot believe how bad this company is to deal with, no order confirmation, plants arrive in drips and drabs in terrible condition , they take days to respond to an email then when you eventually get them on the phone you get a mouthful of cheek off the staff on the other end of the phone!!! Never again avoid at all costs worst company I have dealt with in a long time!!!!!

Unwins is now owned by Westlands that own Marshall's to. Now I know Marshall's is part of unwins, I won't ever use them again. Because Marshall's must be the worst seed company around. Don't buy from these companies, absolutely rubbish.

I bought 48 begonia plug plants, I wouldn't buy these again as I needed a magnifying glass to replant them. Not what I was expecting and certainly not what I thought I had ordered. Bye bye Unwins

I bought live plants from Unwins for the first time this year - they have been a disaster. Only two of the four soft fruits have 'delivered' and survived, and of the large order of vegetables (all planted out on receipt and watered through this hot summer) virtually nothing has (the chillies are OK).
Exceedingly disappointing. Thye have recomoensed me (I am still waiting to see how much they will recompense me for) but that is not teh point.
Never ever again and I wish I had looked at TrustPilot earlier

I ordered 30 large begonia tubas last year 2017 ,which arrived march this year 2018,although I am an experienced Gardner,i decided to follow their planting instructions ..........to the letter, only, about half of the actually germinated the rest are dormant or more likely dead, but I thought could be a one off as Unwins WERE the best seedsmen and plant suppliers around.......(once apon a time)......... so out of misguided loyalty I ordered 36 mixed plug plants for my two big hanging baskets, (picture in the catalogue and on line was magnificent),what I got was utter rubbish well ,only 32 arrived and after speaking to Customer services I was told they had no more plants so they would refund me the difference in price...............still waiting for that to happen,........... which was weeks ago,..........and to top it off they have all died except two whilst not even growing so they have gone into the green garden bin
so that's a waste of £36 for the tubas and a waste of £ 22. for the plug plants never again will i use Unwins total waste of time and money

I ordered 2 types of lavender, 5 plugs of each type. Unfortunately only 2 plants in one box were still alive and all of the rest are not looking great. Seems to be a bit of a theme with this company, unfortunately.

I thought I would provide a rare positive review for Unwins as I had a very positive experience when buying plants etc recently. Very nice healthy young plants that are now growing away nicely. They didn't take long to appear after ordering. They kept me in the loop regarding when delivery was imminent. I hope Unwin addresses Customers issues. We don't want to lose another British company.

I ordered 3 geranium trailing plants.received an e,mail to say they would be delivered today 25th may.at 4pm no sign of delivery,I phoned unwins.the person concerned said oh they will be delivered in 2 weeks time as they were only the factory and they have not received them.how can she put a time frame on it if they were supposed to arrive today.was promised a refund ,but that's not the point .I'm on holiday in 2 weeks time,I would have come back and they would have been left on my doorstep, most likely dead.if I had not rang up this is what would have happened.terrible customer service.beware of this company.

Bought 48 Geraniums that were advertised nationally £2.99 great value, plus £4.95 postage well I can live with that but the final straw was the 9 min phone call to a 0844 number that cost £4 .Strange that to call customer services its an 0344 number included in most packages.

Begonias were a lot of rubbish.
Very little response when trying to complain I feel let down by this company will definitely never use you again Mrs Beaton

I am still waiting for the raspberries I ordered. Unwins have not replied to an email I sent chasing the order.
The strawberry plants they sent were just bedraggled roots with no greenery that looked as if they had been in the plastic bag they were posted in for far too long. I will be surprised if any of them grow.
They use an expensive 0844 number.

I bought last April 3 gooseberry bushes Hinnonmaki. On receiving them, they were looking just like thorny sticks. I though, well they are probably still dormant, they will come back to life. And I planted them. But dormant they weren't, they were perfectly dead. They never came back to life, they were sticks in the ground all year, and have now simply rotted away during the winter. This is a dishonest company. Making you pay £27 and then daring to ship dry sticks and roots is just plain wrong.

I ordered three roses and a few packs of seeds on the 16th of January.
A few days later one rose arrived and was fine, a little dry but nothing to worry about.
A while after that the seeds arrived, this was outside of the delivery times stated on their website but it was seeds, so it's not like they would go bad. But still no sign of my other two roses.
I contacted their customer support on the 27th of January, 11 days after the order and explained the situation, they said they would get replacements sent out straight away.
Today I emailed them again, expressing my dissatisfaction. Their solution is that once again they are going to send some out straight away and I can expect them... next Wednesday.
This will bring the total delivery time (If they actually do dispatch them this time) to 29 days, to send two roses from Oxfordshire to Staffordshire.
No offer of tracking, proof of dispatch, refund or even a free packet of 50p seeds they had lying around.. nothing just empty assurances.
My suspicion is that they advertise plants on their website that they do not actually have in stock, they take your money and then hope you forget about it while they get new stock.
In short it is a scam, do not order from them online as there's a good chance they will take your money and leave you twisting.
Go to a local nursery where you can actually see the product you are buying.

Hi I have just sown (mid Oct) 50 Unwins Red epicure broad bean seeds with !00% germination! Well done!
Disappointed customer ordered begonia given 16th April as delivery date received 19th May after numerous calls, it was as though they had taken to many orders and rushed seeds through as the plugs roots were not developed properly so they are behind everything else. Wont be ordering again from them.
