No sign of Viburnums Carlesii or Carcephalum . Good instant sale plants I would have thought. Still, no signs of Christmas decorations yet either !!!!

Happy shopper
We had a lovely Afternoon Tea to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. This was one of the best we have had.
Many thanks for the staff Jui who made the Afternoon Tea and Keren the Manager who made the whole experience so nice.
Expensive - many prices well above RRP
Expensive - many prices well above RRP and prices available from other bricks and mortar sellers. Example item bought for 39.99 RRP 29.99 widely available. Like to support local retailers but not at these prices.
Notcutts Dukeries totally unconcerned.
Went to Notcutts Dukeries to meet my brother for his birthday. We with our wives had a look round and then had lunch. Restaurant was nice and dog friendly but although there must have been hundreds of thousands of pounds of plants on site they had plastic plants in the cafe.
Included in our shopping we bought a Creative light bar. When we got home we had to buy a pack of AAA batteries. The light was a sensor bar to come on with nearby motion but this did not work. It came on with the on/off switch.
I rang Notcutts for advice and they said bring it back and we will exchange it. Problem is a they are near Newark and we live in North Yorkshire. End of their help. A one and a half each way drive to return a£6.00 item is not viable but they said that it was the only way. They do have nearer premises but the nearest is still over an hour away.
As far as I am concerned the customer service is appalling.
Give them a wide berth.
Awful Customer Service.
Purchased a Privalidge club card.
I did not have it with me at Christmas while buying presents and so couldn't have the 10% discount. It cannit be checjed in their system and no app or virtual card. 'Don't worry just bring your receipt and we will refund the £7.80' l was told.
I did that this week.
'Too late....it has to be within a month '
I stated that it was not what l was told but they couldn't care less.
I left the plant l was buying(£53)
and will not be returning....ever!
Just to balance things out
Just to balance things out, I see there are some reviews focusing only on the restaurant side of things. I don't live nearby any Notcutts bricks and mortar stores so I bought online. I had a really great experience, I bought two Schefflera 'Charlotte' and they were a really good price including for the delivery to Scotland. It worked out as a next day delivery and they actually arrived just before 10am this morning. Both very healthy plants with robust growth and some fresh leaflets.
I couldn't he happier with my experience.
Many thanks.
We nearly didn’t call in for lunch…
We nearly didn’t call in for lunch at Notcutts Norwich on our way home to Newmarket as the restaurant reviews were not exactly inspiring. However, we did, and am I pleased we did.
My husband had his usual, wherever we go, fish and chips and there was a good plateful and it was tasty with crispy batter.
I had the crispy skinned sea bream with new potatoes and veg. It was absolutely beautiful, I have not had a sea bream anywhere as good as that before and the sauce (can’t remember what it was called) complimented the whole dish. I honestly felt I had to go and compliment the chef because of some of the previous bad reviews. Didn’t get to speak to the chef, I think he was worried I was going to complain!
The manager though came to see me and he was delighted to hear what I had to say because as he says people are quick to complain!!
The staff were pleasant too.
I wished we lived nearer.
Thank you all.
Don’t bother if you only want a coffee
If you want a coffee you have to queue along with everyone who wants to go in the restaurant. Once in there you wait to order and then wait longer and longer for the coffee to arrive we queued and waited for a coffee for over 45 minutes. Never again. Coffee ok
This review is only for the restaurant
This review is only for the restaurant. We've been dining at Notcutts for years but of late the food has deteriorated and the prices risen. The cheese rarebit today was soggy toast with some heated cheesy spread. Must do better if they want to keep their customers.
Wonderful Staff and Lovely Food
This review relates specifically to Notcutts Victoria Garden Centre.
I can't praise the staff here enough. My elderly mum and I have been going here regularly for years, and many of the staff have got to know us, and are always so friendly and helpful. They really do go the extra mile.
We had a wonderful Christmas 'festive feast' and it was excellent. Beautifully cooked, and also an excellent vegetarian option. They take care to cater for vegans and people with allergies too. Special mention for Sue, who is always so lovely and accommodating. Such a lovely kind lady. Thanks also to Jill, Keren, Jess, Gemma, Leanne, Vicky and all the other wonderful staff at the restaurant. Also not forgetting Beth on the till in the shop. The staff here really are special, and deserve the roll call! They make every visit a pleasure.

Shouldn't use tongs to help yourself to cakes they are not hygienic at all every body handles them then if you forget to use a hand-wash before you consume your cake you could be in serious trouble i was in that position so please have one person serving cakes with tongs so not all of the public are using them and keep them clean.
Xmas has been cancelled
Visited today with Grandaughter and was very under whelmed. In years gone by the Xmas displays were magical and the whole xmas theme was reflected beautifully throughout the store. Sadly no father xmas to excite my 7yr old GD. The outside display consisted of a very tired looking tent ( igloo) and a lighted sign. Very poor show guys whats going on? Every tree we chose was out of stock so we have to check next Friday for availability.
To say our visit was a disappointment was an understatment cant help feeling all the emphasis is on the restaurant these days

Excellent lunch in the new improved cafe. Whole experience was great, I’m gluten free. Staff could not have been more helpful. Taking time to help me and reassure me of the food items. Everything was fresh, cafe clean with staff actively cleaning restocking and removing plates etc.. fantastic manners and happy.
I enjoyed the soup pea and mint with bread and butter. It was tasty, well seasoned and very filling. Price was reasonable. The whole experience was busy but calm, with confident staff going about their tasks, putting customers first, asking to remove finished plates. It was a really nice experience with good food. I’d give them a definite 10 stars if I could. I will be recommending to friends and family. The kids chicken goujons were awesome pieces of chicken breast, good portion of fries and baked beans in an individual pot, saves a lot of mess and is easier for the kids to eat, that and the hot chocolate brownie and ice cream for £6.99 I thought the kids might go pop after such huge kids plates.
Disappointing Cafe experience
We visited this garden centre today and while there decided to grab a drink and some food in the cafe.
The cafe itself is nice and comfortable but one thing I detest is companies taking advantage of it's customers.
My daughter asked for a portion of chips priced at £3.25 and to call it a portion of chips would arguably be a trades description infringment.
They were served in a cup, yes a cup there were probably about 8 chips in it max.
Absolutely disgusting especially when you consider what they charge for them.
This left a negative impression on us and we won't be going back.
Excellent afternoon tea
We came for afternoon tea on 19 August to celebrate my friend's birthday. The welcome and the service were excellent. The food was superb and the 4 of us couldn't eat it all as there was so much so we were offered doggie bags to take home what we had not managed to eat. The afternoon tea was excellent value and I would highly recommend it.
Don’t waste your money in the restaurant
Food was awful. Homemade fishcakes were more like homemade mush, my partners so called sausage sandwich consisted of cut in half dry cheap sausage nothing else in the sandwich. We had to go home and eat. What a waste of food and our money
Awful place, stay well clear
Monkspath - Solihull.
Needed somewhere for a bite to eat after travelling to take my son's assistance dog to a nearby specialist vet practice. I thought a garden centre, with a pet store and a cafe, was a safe choice. How wrong I was. Not dog friendly and the staff were awful.
Was a warm day (24*+) so gave the dog a bowl of water in the part of the café we were told dogs were allowed; the dog was in the corner, the bowl of water under the canopy of a plant, and my chair pulled out blocking the corner due to wanting to restrict the dog’s movements (due to him being ill – hence travelling to the area for the specialist vet). The café manager demanded the dog was to be taken outside. I told him I wouldn’t be taking the dog outside in this weather as it was too hot, to which I was told ‘I’ve got a dog sweetheart, it’s not too hot’. I’m well versed in dealing with people who say assistance dogs aren't allowed in restaurants/shops/even a dentist once, but I wasn’t prepared to be told we had to go outside because the water bowl was a health and safety hazard ‘that anyone could fall over sweetheart’. I did ask who could trip over the bowl, in the corner of the room, under the canopy of a plant, with me blocking access; to be told ‘all of us could love’ – as he motioned round where only one other table (in sight) was occupied. I lost count of the times he called me love, sweetheart, or darling as I got visibly upset. Eventually he blamed me and said had I explained from the beginning that the dog was an assistance dog he would not have asked us to go outside. So clearly not the life-or-death health and safety risk he spent 10 minutes condescendingly lecturing me about. We left without our food (not a bad thing either if the reviews are anything to go by) and we didn’t wait around for a refund.
Credit where it’s due there was a wonderful member of staff on the customer service desk who was exceptional but that was it. The entire place is grubby and outdated; in the garden centre it felt dark and dirty, outside the plants looked half dead and incredibly expensive, in the cafe there was no fridge so bottles of drink were 'displayed' on a trolley where used trays were put. And the water... kept on a dirty shelf in a 1970's tupperware plastic drinks jug.
I never thought that the other, well known, national garden centre chain (that ryhmes with hobbies) was anything exceptional, but in comparison to Notcutts, it's like the Four Seasons.

Visited Notcutts Solihull and was very disappointed with how the stores had changed. It used to be an upmarket garden centre and was a pleasure to walk around looking at what was on offer. I felt like I was in Poundland and lost the will to muddle through to find the plants!
Webbs Garden Centre although huge does have a better sense of flow and plenty of appeal.
Terrible restaurant experience…
Been to Notcutts in Ditchling and Cranleigh. Ordered a super food salad and the quality and portion size was terrible. The avocado was so hard I couldn’t get the knife through to cut it. Also ordered chips and a tiny bowl with about 4 chips came out. Felt completely conned. One star is far too high for the rubbish served
