Normally quite happy to visit Toby Carvery Redhill but tonight was very dissapointing to say the least. The amount of meat was hardly enough to make a sandwich. They had run out of vegetarian bak... See more

Will not return
dried, compressed rubber
Toby carvery, pontprennau, cardiff.
toby carvery are getting worse without a doubt. Years ago, always a satisfying meal for everyone young to elderly. Is it the chefs or the produce that it lacking?
I had not been pontprennau for a couple of years as the last time i went there the food was awful.
I have stopped at various other ones, newport being one where it was well liked and tasty.
I ended up going back to pontprennau sunday as the way things worked out for me, i was on the doorstep so thought cant always be bad.
Everything was dried out, the lamb was over cooked, the stuffing was not cooked in the middle, the collie, couldnt be cut where i even asked the waitress to watch me try. it was rubber.
I am no chef but have been around many people cooking and and i always recall stuffing being soft and loose. The stuffing here was compressed and white in the middle. Nothing like the real thing.
roast potatoes are frozen and not cooked at all. they looked like a roast potatoe but tasted nothing like one. Like chewing on a dusty tennis ball.
I was offered a free icecream that i would normally take up but what i had eaten of the other part of the meal, put me right off leaving me not 100% to eat anything else.
There are not many carvery's about these days but toby will not be on my to go to carvery any more.
Good and bad
The meat on the carvery was absolutely delicious, But, the vegetables and roast potatoes looked and tasted like they had been there from the day before .
On a plus note, the staff were excellent, and very professional and helpful, apart the the gentleman carving the meat , who was curt and had obviously had a bad day
Bathgate Carvery.
14 May 2026 mid afternoon. Went to Bathgate Carvery for a meal. The atmosphere was good with a friendly welcome. Decided on the carvery. Hardly anyone in at this time. Went to get my food and hardly any meat left. A very small dried up piece of gammon and exactly the same for the pork. Full turkey available. I was told that I would have to have the pork and gammon from the displayed meat as they have to use up all the meat to prevent waste. Some vegetable dishes were dried up.
I have had good meals at this place before but those were at times when it was busy and the food was fresh. So, it would appear they do not look after the food when it is quiet. It just dries up as it is not covered up.
Logging in
Trying to log into my Toby Carvery account & I forgot my password (haven't used it in a while) but when you click on forgot password it takes you back to the main screen, no where to change the password. Have emailed Toby but no response. Thought I would try them again after a couple of bad experiences & being told things have improved in my local Toby. Are they interested in customers or do I forget it.
Toby Carvery in Langley 399 London Road, Slough
We visited Toby Carvery in Langley for our daughter’s first birthday, and Lili made the whole experience absolutely wonderful. She was outstanding from start to finish — so friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout our visit.
We had a table of 13 guests, and Lili handled everything so smoothly, making sure everyone was looked after and comfortable. She went above and beyond to make our daughter’s birthday feel extra special, even bringing out her birthday cake and leading a lovely singalong with us.
It’s people like Lili who make you want to return again and again. Her kindness, professionalism, and warm personality truly made our celebration memorable. Thank you, Lili, for making our daughter’s birthday such a special treat!
Slough Toby Carvery…
I regularly visit Slough Toby Carvery with a group of friends & the carvery is excellent & good value for money. We are usually served by Sharon who remembers us and provides efficient friendly service hence we keep going back.

We had breakfast on Saturday 9th May at Goring Rd Worthing which was a lovely as always
But was made a better experience by the service we received from Vicky
We then popped in on Monday for a roast once again food superb abd once again served by Vicky she has some of the best customer service skills we have experienced in a long time
Toby goring toilets were terrible
Toby goring toilets were terrible, one out of order, the other one had no lock on the door. No toilet paper in the gents, this is not exceptional.
25 Guests Welcome. One Disabled Guest? Apparently Not.
We’re booking as a group of approximately 25, and one member of our group has ARFID along with food allergies, which makes eating out extremely difficult.
We contacted the restaurant in advance to ask whether we could bring some supplementary food for them to have alongside their meal, as there was very little on the menu they could safely eat. We were told a flat no because our food “might contaminate others during the visit.”
To be honest, the response felt dismissive and lacking any willingness to accommodate someone with a recognised eating disorder and medical dietary restrictions. We weren’t asking to replace the restaurant’s food or cause disruption, just trying to make sure one person could comfortably attend a group event.
It’s disappointing when basic understanding and flexibility seem completely absent.
Pros are the food is really tasty
Pros are the food is really tasty, both breakfast and carvery have always been spot on. Cons are the crazy discount system they have. Recently we visited the Lytham Toby, and had an offer where kids eat for £1 for each paying adult. However, because the well meaning waiter scanned our reward stamps on the app too, it cancelled out the kids eat for £1, so cost us £13 more. I paid via apple pay without realising the mistake. I complained and the message said they would be in contact within 48 hours. A week later I still haven’t been contacted.
My advice is check the deals at the start of the meal, when you arrive, and then check the amount before you pay.
Washington branch disappointing
Visited Washington branch and ordered salmon en croute, loads of puff pastry which I had to dissect to find any salmon - I’ve honestly seen more fish in a fish finger! Veg was all Luke warm, cauliflower cheese was just mush, peas dried up and shrivelled, very messy serving area with dropped food which wasn’t cleaned up. Also was charged 99p for a ‘baby bowl’ for a young baby in our party who was too young to eat anything.
Continuing Substandard Delivery Service
On a sunday, my busy family often order a Toby Carvery delivery from the White Hart, Mark's Tey/Stanway. CO38LT.
However, on numerous occasions there seems to be a fault with our orders, to point that it has become a standing joke within my family. "I wonder what will be missing this time?" We ask ourselves?
Usually small items, a tub of gravy or even a whole desert, for example; a slice of apple pie and custard. We have even got used to receiving in each of the children's meals we order, an abundance of veg, and what seems a few scraps of meat attached too fat.
Yesterday, we ordered 5 children's meals, total cost, £42.45, only to discover after the Deliveroo, man had immediately left, that there was 1 dinner missing!
Of course, we phoned Toby's, to state our case and in return were given by a staff member, the usual uncaring options of, driving miles out of our way, ourselves, to Toby's, to collect a replacement (bearing in mind, our being a busy family, reason for ordering in the first instance; receiving some sort of credit note, or requesting a refund for the missing meal, by which we would be required to go through a long winded online process of reporting the exact total, full order, of what was ordered, and total of what was missing.
It has also come to our attention, that there appears to be no security whatsoever, when orders are made up within this Toby's branch, through to the delivery at the customer's front door.
Despite the receipt showing the order contained 5 meals, the two, 'Packed With Care By:', spaces on the order receipt are deliberately left blank, so that the order cannot be traced back to the packer, prior to despatch.
Indeed, if there were 5 meals packed, how would we even know if the delivery driver has stolen a meal, gravy or apple pie, or not???
On that note, I do not think we will be ordering another Toby's delivery in the near future, and I hope others have better luck with their orders.
Milly…
We would like to say how well we were looked after by Vicki who as always is a happy welcoming lady, Vicki has served us before but excuse our ignorance not asking her name, the food was very nice as always so a big shout for Toby and staff keep up the welcoming service
Don’t waste your money
I had breakfast at the Toby Carvery on Bawtry Road Doncaster & it was dreadful.
It was not very warm and they announced they had run out of eggs!!!!
No toilet paper in the ladies either. Atrocious!!!!!
Staff couldn’t be bothered. Poor quality sausages and bacon.
nice night
Had the best meal last night with my wife and children v nice agreat night thank you so much , food was good
Good meal disappointed desserts
I recently visited the Toby Carvery in Hilsea, Portsmouth, for a family meal. We used a Groupon voucher to pay for the bill and opted for the two-course menu.
The main course was quite good and the portions were a reasonable size. The unlimited vegetables are always a plus, although I found the gammon to be a bit salty.
Unfortunately, the desserts were disappointing. While they used to be quite good, they weren't very tasty this time. My daughter’s apple pie was rather bitter, and my wife had a sponge cake with cream that she didn't enjoy.
The logistics of the visit were very smooth. We booked a 08:20 PM slot, so the restaurant wasn't busy and there were plenty of parking spaces available.
Love the Toby Carvery in Hinton
The Toby carvery at Hinton in Dorset is fabulous. The booking process is easy, the service is excellent particularly Mario and Shell. The food is great and hot with the best variety on a Sunday. Book early to make sure you can get in. It has recently had a refurbishment and looks very smart.
