Excellent mini break to London and ABBA voyage from pick up to drop off!
Coach journey by driver James was seemless and hassle free.
James explained everything to make the outings and concert easy to navigate.
The coach was clean and comfortable.
The hotel and food was pleasant as you'd expect with this type of travel.
And ABBA voyage was amazing.
We even stoppped off to visit Oxford on the way home to the midlands.
Ps James even played abba on the coach on route to the venue!!
Thank you, Emma and kristian 👍😊

First time with Shearings and although we have done several coach holidays this one has put us off for ever. We went on the NC500 but two hotels along the way were below any standard that would be acceptable to anyone. Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel, completely inept and not set up for dealing with coach parties, evening meal experience unbelievably bad food when it eventually turned up was awful the waiter delivered food one plate at a time with no idea who was eating what. My wife's food arrived and had to be eaten although my meal turned up as my wife was finishing her desert.. my desert never arrived. Hotel was very badly managed and there didn't seem to be a responsible adult in sight. If we wanted a drink with our meal we had to go down two flights of stairs to the bar and carry them back ourselves. We had not long ago visited the theatre show Fawlty Towers to be honest Fawlty Towers seemed like 4 star accommodation compared. At least the room was clean. Another stop along the way was in Thurso at the Royal Thurso Hotel the only stop we had for two nights. This hotel was the pits just looking at the frontage was enough to put any one off dirty unkept guttering full of weeds and overgrown, all windows were in fact rotten let alone unpainted. Thankfully our room appeared to have clean linen but the room and bathroom was neglected and unclean. We were nervous about eating here and rightly so the food was appalling and service unpleasant. Breakfast was awful no choice pretty much badly cooked fry up or cornflakes. Needless to say we did not eat at the hotel again. One guest asked if she could have porridge for breakfast and was rudely told no they did not have this. We are in Scotland isn't this a staple. Four couples refused to stay in the hotel due to the general filth and health concerns of staying there (the one couple went to the room given to them only to find the door was open and bedding appeared to have been in a used condition and left unkept and stained. Another couple complained of bed bugs. It is obvious that no one from Shearings had visited this "hotel" no company I know would willingly place their customers in such an abhorrent place with a very dubious history about it. It is clear that the itinerary was delivered to customers at the very last moment to prevent them checking out the hotels before the trip, we read the hotel reviews on route and arrived with justifiable trepidation. Shearing only saving grace was the driver Marcus who did his very best to help although the Volvo coach was not in great condition 2019 plate so 7 years old and virtually everything rattled continually throughout. We expected to live out of a suitcase for a week it is in the nature of this particular trip and we spent a lot of time on the coach so would expect better, we certainly paid a lot for the trip, never again though. I would like to add that the toilet on the coach was out of action for the entire duration of the trip.

Germany Four Rivers Tour. Too much time spent travelling on the coach. Poor food in at Hotel Lindenhof inOsterspai . Only one choice of dessert, grey tasteless mousse one night, plums the other, repeated alternative nights. Boat trips disappointing, apart from the Rhine and Mosel. No time spent in Cochem or Limburg, just straight on the boat. Horrendous journey home. Coach driver took us through Sandwell, Tipton and all through Wolverhampton to drop off two people, didn't use Motorway! Didn't know where he was going on our drop off in Newcastle Under Lyme.

Just back from the NC500 coach trip with Shearings .My first and last trip .We had a wonderful friendly helpful driver .Our first hotel in Darlington was not nice but our third was disgraceful.I don't understand why they put people there .For two nights at that.It was a dump.First room was so tiny ,like a sauna with two velux windows that you could not open due to the pigeons. No bathroom window, the yellow bath I could not get in as I am disabled so got moved. The whole hotel is dated ,the rooms are unclean ,stained curtains ,walls and shower curtain. The next room was at least cooler but still grim .Just as I got into bed I saw a bed bug run from under my pillow .Took a photo.Killed it .Packed up and lay on the settee in the foyer all night and got two hours sleep.Three other couples left the hotel at their expense and went elsewhere.I wanted to but no other hotel available so changed rooms. That was still dirty ,blood stained sheets, hair in bed ,pulls in my pillow case,no pillow protectors dirty curtains, walls and shower curtain. The food was awful apart from the pudding.Second night had to go to the chip shop as I could not eat the food. The manager was rude. Why dump people in Thurso for two nights there is a high street and a beach .At Inverness we got an hour and a half !The same in Pitlochry..In Ullapool we just got the night .The views were stunning .But for that sort of money I would expect decent accommodation. We had four nights in good hotels and three nights in two very grim hotels .Needless to say I won't be travelling with Shearings again.

Just come back from Tenby food was good and people in hotel were really friendly but the room was hot the bed was on a slope and the journey home was horrendous. Over 12 hours it took to get home. Because they pick up everyone from different areas they drop everyone off at a service station and then you get on the coach to wherever your going which means if there is an accident like there was yesterday everyone gets delayed. There has to be a better way of doing this. We travelled by coach from Tenby to Cobham then had to get on another coach from Cobham to Brighton and then a minibus from Brighton to Bexhill. There were a lot of unhappy customers on the coach yesterday. This was my first coach trip in the UK. I went on a coach trip in the USA which was so well organised I’m not sure I want to do it again in the UK

Very friendly, kind and understanding staff. Nothing too much trouble. Just tell them where you want too go and they wiil find a suitable coach tour. Maybe not the one you wanted but one very close.

Where do I start we went on the river Seine cruise in France we got picked up from lymm services the feeder was a top of he range ledger coach nice big comfortable seats with i pads in the back of the seat pure luxury. We then travelled to Folkestone to join the tour and you guessed we travelled with a different coach company called signs the two drivers where an absolute disgrace there dress code was the scruffiest I have ever encountered. They dressed in ledger polo shirts which had never seen an iron and the shorts well I have thrown better away . Talk about lack of knowledge they didn’t know anything about the places of interest on the journey to and from this holiday. The hotel on the lnbound had no restaurant we was told this at a service station. The hotel on departure did not provide breakfast sorry croissants and coffee end of nothing else. The river cruise we cannot fault but these two drivers was a total disgrace to your company if I don’t get a good response from you I certainly will not book with Shearings again hope to hear from you soon Kevin.

Ref: Trip To Chatres en Lumieres and Versailles Gardens
1638575 10th - 14th July 2026.
As this was a NEW trip l feel that it is important to give feed back. The main point is that as you are now going across Dover/Dunkerque, Chartres should be part of a different holiday which would have somewhere else north of Paris as its first stop, (perhaps a 2 hour coach drive from Dunkerque) as the 4+hour trip direct to Chartres makes the first day of this holiday much too long for your targetted age range of passengers. We did not arrive at our destination hotel until 11:30 at night having been travelling since 6:30am.
The coach was comfortable enough but was very standard with no refreshment offering en route. Having recently (May 2026) been on the holiday to St Omer which was a brilliant long weekend, we were very disapointed with this trip due to the length of time we spent on the coach getting there. Our drivers were excellent but even for them the distance was overlong.
The Novotel was a good place to stay with good size well appointed rooms, great bathrooms, although quite a distance out of the town. Unfortunately, although the breakfasts were fine with ample choice, the dinners were restricted with no choice (except for Vegetarians, Vegans and Pescatarians) and the food was generally unappetising and generally not well presented. Certainly not what one expects in France.
Chatres is a very interesting place to visit, and the Lumieres experience was really something different.
I feel that if you are going to use Dover /Dunkerque crossing it is going to make some of your short trips to places like Rouen, Le Mans and places south of Paris less popular for older people.
I hope this rather long revue will help you to understand the frustrations of senior travellers.

I called and spoke to Danny rebooking my mother and friend on a trip, he was exceptionally helpful and went above and beyond with the information I needed.
Due to accessibility requirements that Shearings were not able to answer I had to call each hotel and check with them prior to booking. A booking has been made, following reassurances from the hotel they could accommodate with a walk in shower but no grab rails, but I would urge Shearings too look at they hotels they are in contract with as of the 3 options none of them had accessible bathrooms, as coach holidays are primarily for the elder generation I found this to be severely lacking on the companies behalf.

The advisor was very helpful, and booking my holiday was fairly easy, but he had an accent, and I have a problem understanding accents. Apart from that little problem, all was good. As phone lines were busy, I requested callback which was duly done.

This is the first time I've used Shearings and I was impressed with how easy it was to book my trip. The adviser I spoke to gave me all the options and any information I'd need.

Shearings must be doing well. I tried on 2 consecutive days to make changes to a holiday we booked for 2027. Changes which couldn't be made on line. Told on phone nobody available to ring us back. Twice I pressed 1 on keyboard for a return call. Nobody rang back. Tried emailing customer service but I got one back saying the email would not be seen by anyone! Finally I got through today phoning at 9am and waiting 15 mins for someone to pick up. Once I did get through things were all sorted very quickly and efficiently but clearly there is not enough people at their booking office. I have to say we have been using shearings for many years and always pleased with the holidays but they do need to sort out their communications.

We did a 8 night stay with excursions to franscati,Pompeii,Herculaneum and Sorrento. The coach was very comfortable and the driver was great. But the 18hour drive to the hotel was very hard and I wouldn’t do that again.
The hotel we stayed in in fiuggi was very clean and the staff were nice but the rooms although functional were so outdated. No tea/coffee facilities and apart from breakfast times they charge you if you want a cuppa. The breakfast was what we expected for a continental one but sadly the evening meals were diabolical. I have never been served such bland and tasteless food before.Their choices were strange to. We were in the heart of Italy and not once did we see a Tomatoe, olives, pizza in fact nothing Italian in the hotel. We had to make sure we ate out everyday because of it. The hotel is so far out it made the excursions way too long a drive! Sorry to sound so negative but I’m being honest! I would never have booked this holiday if I’d have seen reviews like this so I’m hoping to save someone a lot of money by not booking it! There was a couple of people who couldn’t face the arduous journey so they actually booked flights home instead!

In summary the trip to Monets garden was:
Very very long 18 hours travel on first/final days. The feeder coach was a minibus, had travel 2 hours backwards facing to get to main coach. But the main coach was comfortable nice air con in heatwave. Driving was good but the knowledge of the drivers amounted to Google only. They were not familiar with the location of hotel. Confusion over whether food would be available for all passengers. Hotel- was not in a central location as Shearings had told me. It was in an industrial area. But it was a nice hotel. Drivers enjoyed their beers in the lovely hotel garden in the evenings.
The 2 days visits to Versailles and Monets Gardens were worth everything though I must say in a heatwave it would have been advisable for a Plan B for passengers struggling in heatwave- more research into alternatives needed from drivers. They were after all our eyes and ears on the ground on our trip. I had to book my own ticket into palace and glad I did this as queues were insane and if I had just turned up despite being told by driver that it would have been fine!l I would have queued hours!
I could go on but - would I do it again? Yes is the answer due to the company I met, the wonderful places I saw, hence my score but not with Shearings

The driver failed to pick us at our stop in Cardiff, I was unable to get through to the office on the emergency number, no one from Shearings rang to advise us. When I eventually spoke to someone they were not particularly helpful and not sensitive to my issue about travel sickness. I eventually got to the hotel which was dirty and had no effective window covering, the hotel was grubby and shabby . The driver was supposed to seek me out to advise me of the arrangements for the next day and I did not hear from anyone
I spent a lot of money on this holiday and it was absolutely shocking the service I had , I would never book with them again

Misrepresentation of hotel facilities in 2026-27 brochure. No pool, gym, leisure suite. Confirmed by Duty Manager Tony, when enquiring. Closed since Covid, yet still advertised in brochure! Signature holiday at The Imperial Hotel, Blackpool. “Hand picked hotels with extra special touches”. Not cheap!! Stair carpets dirty. Room dirty…carpet, skirting boards…could see grime without running finger along! Dusty. Bathroom …mould on tiles, old stains around toilet base. Shower curtain grime inside the seam. How can a bath and shower unit be signed off clean with all that? Poor toiletries for guests. Main entrance and adjoining areas, bars, dining room, clean. Food was very good with Chef Terry working hard. Felt, as a coach guest, we were given below standard rooms, as voiced by many of the group on the tour. July 6th - 10th 2026. Room overlooked the local car wash, even after asking for a “nice view” as was a Birthday treat! Room could not be changed as hotel was full. Informed Shearings of all the above. Will not be using your Company again. Photographs of cleanliness of the room, submitted to Melissa, Customer Services. A Petri Dish swab of bathroom and toilet area, would prove interesting!!
