I am a solo female traveller who is…
I am a solo female traveller who is getting picked up in Durham City in the early hours of Saturday 25th July,
I rang this morning Thursday 23 July to ask for the name of the taxi firm or the mini bus firm who would be picking me up. The operative I spoke to didn't know but she would get someone to ring me back with the information. It is now late afternoon early evening and no one has been in contact with this information. I could be picked up by any random taxi or mini bus as I don't have the name to confirm its the correct firm. My contact number is 07980012230

Safety Concerns
Edit. Your reply is worthless just blah blah blah empty words with no worth or sincerity whatsoever.
We took a trip to Orkney in June and apart from the many tiny irritations about coach hotel rooms etc that I could fill up this box with the main one was that we only had 1 driver. He worked in excess of 13 hours on day one, we sat down to eat at 10pm. I don’t know how many hours he did on the pickups before we met him. The next day he did in excess of 12 hours (another 10pm sit down meal) and about the same on the return. That left him very few hours to legally do all the touring in between. All that and he was expected to serve drinks on request at 60mph. I’d like to see Shearings risk assessment for this trip. Me and my fellow travelers all thought our safety had been compromised to save Shearings a bit of cash. I have complained to Shearings 3 times but they have not replied. Will never go with them again

Better coaches and hotels. The hotel at Cergy near Paris is poor quality and in a rough area. The dining room is like a canteen and food exceptionaly poor.
Customer service non existent.

Had our NewYear break booked in no time. Isobel was helpful and competent. We were offered door to door service which would have cost £80 when travelling by taxi would be no more than £16 return. Maybe Shearings have a standard price for this service, even so, they should be aware when there’s only a short distance to travel it’s not a case of one size fits all. Other than that, they are a good company to deal and travel with.

Holiday from hell
The TLH Derwent hotel we stayed in was like staying in student accommodation. The rooms were small and the bathroom we had was so small they plumbed the sink into the dressing table in our very small and hot room. The restaurant staff were very rude and there was a lot of confusion about what table we were ALLOWED to sit at. Torquay had 5 thousand exchange students which we were not told about and there was a lot of them in our hotel pushing in food lines and running around corridors in the night. It was certainly not a pleasant holiday. The only saving grace was the very helpful and lovely coach driver.
The reply from Shearings acknowledges my comments but makes no mention of any action to be taken.

Lakes Como and Maggiore
A wonderful adventure provided by Shearings. The destinations were absolutely beautiful. The personal highlight of the trip was the optional ‘bucket-list’ worthy journey on the Bernina Express from St Moritz, Switzerland to Tirano in Italy. To see mountains, glaciers and clear, blue lakes at such a close range was totally awe-inspiring. Lakes Como and Maggiore were also stunningly beautiful. The Hotel Bazzoni overlooking Lake Como was perfect - clean, comfortable with friendly, hard-working and hospitable staff. There was plenty of good food and drink available, all inclusive! Drivers/hosts Paul and Mike were excellent and demonstrated first-class driving skills when negotiating narrow, winding alpine roads. Feeder coach drivers and 23 Taxis, Hartlepool were also superb. Thank you Shearings for a memorable experience.

We recently returned from the rheinland…
We recently returned from the rheinland river trip and although the hotels in Belgium weren't bad the one in Germany was very poor,the staff were surly and unhelpful. On returning from the days out in hot weather I asked at the dinner table for water and was told we had to purchase it at the inflated price they charge or do without.i think as the majority of guests were elderly this is against safety guidelines.moving onto the desserts after dinner they were disgusting a bowl of pink gloop and when I asked staff member for an alternative I was told it was that or nothing .I heard a number of guest complaining about the hotel and I hope shearings take these complaints up with the hotel owners
