Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 67 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Shoppers frequently complained about soaring prices, poor product quality, and finding expired or rotting items directly on the store shelves. People also mentioned dealing with extremely rude employees and unhelpful customer support representatives when attempting to resolve everyday shopping issues. Some reviewers were happy with the convenient online grocery pickup service and considered the overall food selection to be very good. Others also appreciated having clear information about product origins and helpful details when these were properly provided. Despite the widespread frustration, a few individuals still found certain aspects of their routine shopping trips acceptable.

worst store ever and they barely answer the telephone lately
Also, their price is ridiculous and they keep increasing their price every week and it seems like nobody can do anything about that from the Government or whatever
Therefore, I will not recommend this store to any of my friends

Self Check Out Experience

I used their self checkout at the Superstore, baseline Rd. Sherwood park, Ab and the employee working there was extremely rude and had her phone out listening to what sounded like some sort of East Indian religious sermon.

Months ago I would give Superstore a higher rating, but I have several concerns. First, there are a number of staff who speak Punjabi to each other while working which happened today as well. They should speak only English as that is the common language in Canada and it's inappropriate to use another while working publicly. The store recently installed a recording monitor in the meat section while in the front there is a monitor as you enter. I find both to be intrusive and the presence takes away from my shopping experience. Is it really necessary? For some reason the store is no longer stocking coconut sugar and there is no explanation on the shelf. The same goes for original coconut milk in the cooler. I used to like shopping at Superstore more, but now I have mixed feelings.

Horrible Service

I've been a customer for years, but since moving to the Abbotsford location it has been absolutely terrible. I order 4-5 times a month, and I'm lucky if any of them are error free.
I've had 6 items missing from one order (all fridge items), 3 items missing from another (all frozen) and one time last month, they literally gave my order to a Door Dash guy while I was waiting in the car next to him for my pickup. They always correct it when you call, but my goodness they really don't even try to get it right. Also the substitutions are sometimes bizarre. I'd change to another company but I paid for a year and they refuse to refund.

Feedback Regarding Cashier Experience

I am writing to share a disappointing perience I had during my recent visit to your store. I was assisted by a cashier named Natalie, whose behavior was not in line with the level of customer service I expect from your establishment.

Natalie was rude, impatient, and unprofessional throughout the interaction. Her attitude made the checkout process unnecessarily stressful, and she was also quite slow, which affected the flow of the line and the overall experience.

I value this store and have had positive experiences in the past, but this incident was frustrating enough that I felt it needed to be addressed. I hope this feedback will be taken seriously and that staff are reminded of the importance of courteous, respectful, and efficient service.

I am writing to formally express my concern regarding an incident that occurred today at your Brimley location.

While shopping with my husband and my 5 year old son, we were at the checkout when my son accidentally pressed the green button on the conveyor belt. In response, the cashier, MARIA of Cashier 7 today, this morning, August 30 2025, chose to yell at him in a manner that was loud, harsh, and completely inappropriate for addressing a young child.
The lady after me with very young children said to the cashier "I appreciate you doing that". I am sorry but WTF!

As a parent, I was deeply upset by the way she handled the situation. I work in customer service myself, and I understand the challenges staff face. However, I also know that regardless of circumstances, it is never acceptable to lash out at a customer especially a child.

The tone and manner in which Maria spoke left my son shaken and created a very negative experience for our family. You traumatized my child, Maria. This is not the level of professionalism or care I expect from your stores.

I kindly ask that this matter be reviewed, and that steps be taken to ensure employees are trained to manage situations with patience and respect.

Customers, including children, deserve to feel safe and respected in your stores.

Please note that I also sent a hard copy of this letter to:

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.

Horrible service for the past 4 months…

Horrible service for the past 4 months in Thunder Bay Canadian Real Superstore location. With incorrect pricing on the online order portion. Also with delivery, using third party drivers who do not read special instructions in delivering to apartment buildings. I am a PC Express Customer too, so one would expect they would know to instruct drivers at time of pickup to read special instructions. Half of the drivers, don't speak nor understand English. One even had his wife with him to translate. How embarrassing for all concerned. Today, I received incorrect items, some I never ordered. Some items were omitted from my order. It is such a mess, it wouldn't make sense to any customer service rep. Screenshots might be useful here, but unfortunately not available.

I was overcharged on peaches

I was overcharged on peaches. I inquired about the cost, $9.00 for 4 small peaches, seeming to be incorrect as a whole container was $7.00. The cashier told me that was the code and the price. I told her I still wanted them and I would check the price at customer service. Without me knowing it, she removed it from the bill. When I got to customer service, the actual price was $2.64. They would not honour their policy of it being free as the cashier had taken them off the bill. I had to wait 20 minutes to sort this out and they still charged me for the item they incorrectly priced.

Not really Canadian

we shop at a few of their locations, their name real Canadian they are the furthest away from that, yes the owners are Canadian but read where their products are from I would say that approx. 80 percent is from the US an in these times they should be sourcing from their own country. I was there on Sunday and every item i picked up was us needless to say we went elswhere to get our produce.

A Store for Real Canadians

I have been shopping at Real Canadian Superstore for quite a few years. The fact that it is a Canadian company is terrific in light of the US tariffs that are plaguing Canada. Anyway, I buy mostly household products like laundry detergent, toilet paper, Kleenex, paper towels but also personal hygiene items like liquid soap, shampoo, lotions and so on. Another feature that I really enjoy is the Joe Fresh clothing. I have also bought a bathroom curtain rod and shower curtains. The variety of items that you can buy there for significantly good prices is fantastic.

I have been a serious shopper and fan of Real Canadian Superstore for decades. Recently, however, I feel there is zero reasons for me to chose superstore over any other grocery store. Your prices aren't low anymore, and you have exorbitantly expensive regular prices with a few items on "sale". You used to discount greeting cards but nope, that's gone. I will shop elsewhere.

This chain has the most incompetent user unfriendly website for this overpriced store

This chain has the most incompetent, retarded, on line ordering website ever experienced. Unfortunately I got a $500 gift card and am thereby forced to repeatedly use this Real Canadian Superstore. A real! REAL user unfriendly, awkward system. Comparing to Safe-on-foods, Walmart and any other grocery store….. highly recommend to stay away from website AND this overpriced grocery store chain.

Not like there's no money to pay for it. why!!!! This is very frustrating and not an easy option to order. I am unable to do pick up! I don't think I will shop here if it's so hard.

Ungraded beef

We shop regularly at Superstore. We have generally been pleased but I have noticed lately that store featured beef specials are labelled 'ungraded'. What does this mean? I've always enjoyed their beef as they only sold triple A beef. I've heard from others that ungraded beef is low standard. I've stopped buying beef at this store chain as I don't trust it regardless of their weekly special sale price.

Produce is rarely ripe and it rots before it ripens. Constantly out of stock of necessities. PCExpress cancelled my order for no reason and I was never refunded. it was over $300. They just closed my ticket before I could fit their BS into my schedule. Apparently you have only a small window so if you're a disabled working mother don't use PCExpress.

So i put order in get notification we may need supply with alternate item on choc. instead of vanilla thats fine, Just before i head out i get message of replacement . ok look pic looks fine i approve . Only to wonder what difference is going to be. Then as i wait in line i see its 5 buks cheaper ok something gotta be wrong . Rofl bloody crooks substituted a 6pack for 14.99 in place of a 24 pack for 19.99 . not once x original cost but 3x . Thats criminal if you ask me . Then the girl bringing out the order says well you accepted replacement . Yes but you didnt bother to mention it cost me 3x More . i really dont think location would make any difference . so i wont bother telling you what store it is
