Tenerife: Excellent and fast service

Rented a car at Tenerife during 18.01.2020-26.01.2020. Everything was fine: easy to find location of the service, small time for documents and payments, clean car, model as promised (Toyota Yaris).
The only disadvantage, not so clean boosters as we'd like to have but I understood that its quite hard to maintain between different users.
In overall, I'll recommend Pluscar Tenerife and definitely I'll order the car for the next trip from the same company.
Thanks a lot, Autos Plus Car from Tenerife!

PS. I noticed a lot of negative reviewers here. So, maybe usage experience depends a lot on places and local services

You have to guess the availbility

Very strange company. My wife dreamed driving SmartForTwo. We were in Chafiras and we saw about 10 Smarts on the company’s parking. “Can we rent it?” “No”, was the answer, “you must do it on the website”.
All right. We made an reservation for 4 weeks.
Answer: “we regret there are no availability on these dates”.

I wrote “ok, could you tell me which dates are available?”
Answer: “no we could not do it but you can try to do a new reservation we’ll check the possibility and we’ll answer you”.

I have to guess the available dates! So I must to fill a big form on their website many times looking for different dates and I will get the same simple answer “we regret” every time!

I disappointed with the attitude of the company.

Very mixed feelings

Our particular experience comes in with a positive ending, but overall, it was a bit frustrating process, and their customer service is quite awful.

I have booked a car through them after my friend’s recommendation. Relatively affordable prices and most importantly- they’ve had convertibles which most others didn’t offer in Tenerife.

Their website is a bit outdated, and the whole process seems a bit dodgy, but that’s something you’d expect from a cheap company. I had no issues making a reservation on their website. Once it’s been done, one of their reps contacted me through the email. We sorted everything out (my requested car wasn’t available after all, so they offered me an alternative).

Pick up- relatively smooth. I chose to collect my car directly from Tenerife South airport. They’ve emailed me instruction on how to find their manager in the parking lot, and following every step, I found him no problems. Friendly lad, explained all the details, filled out the papers and payments, and maybe after 5min wait, our car – make and model we reserved online. The only minor annoyance was that the fuel tank was on reserve, meaning that my holiday started with a visit to the petrol station.

As for the car- nice and clean, well maintained 16k km on the clock, everything worked just fine. Few scratches here and there, didn’t pay much attention to them since we had full insurance.
And that’s where the trouble begins. When returning the car, their rep then tells me that they can’t refund me my deposit right away, because there are scratches on the rear bumper. I was like- wait, it’s fully insured, isn’t it? Then he told me that, and I’ll quote him: “Insurance doesn’t cover reckless driving and bad parking”. Ok, wait a sec - what does insurance cover then?! When we picked the car, their rep explained to me I don’t have to worry about scratches and taking pictures/notes about the car because it’s fully insured. I now had to wait a day or so until their office checks the car and its history and if the scratch wasn’t my fault- they will refund my deposit in full. This is, undoubtedly, the most frustrating car rental experience I’ve ever had. I’m not happy with “usually they refund full amount”, that’s not very professional at all.

As a side note, we also had issues with their customer support during the rental period. When I tried to email their office regarding our rental period (replied to the original email), we received a rather rude email from Paulina that we had to contact Tenerife office instead (she didn’t specify the phone number or email). Ok, I then phoned up the number which was on the key fob- first call was immediately dropped after first words in English… ok, laughed a bit, and phoned up again- then another person picked up- nice and friendly guy, we quickly resolved our question and all done… at least I thought so. We extended our drop off time by 3hrs, but what a surprise- when the original time was ticking out, someone from their office phones us and is like- where da &$^%$ is the car? I was a bit shocked, we talked to one of their people in the morning and he said it’s not a problem because we’ve already payed for the full day (they charge you in 24hrs slots, you pick up 10am, and return it 10am. If you book it from 10 am till 3 pm, then you pay full day for that extra 5hrs, so, because it’s been paid already, the guy said it’s fine to bring the car back around 6-7 pm). After a few minutes of a bit of aggressive discussion on the phone, we’ve finally resolved our issue- the morning guy was right, and we didn’t have to worry about anything. Great, except their communication in the office, could solve that in a first place. It looks like a complete lack of staff for the number of customers they have, and that’s where lots of problems are kicking off...

I have very mixed feelings about recommending them, I got my deposit fully refunded, the car was fine and had no issues, some of their staff members seemed to be polite and helpful too. It would be unfair bashing them all now because of few poorly trained and demotivated individuals.

The worst customer service I.ve…

The worst customer service I.ve experienced. Basically after 15 hours of trip. You finally arrive at tenerife. And then there's an older guy that is super rude and unable to communicate like a decent human being. First they have a bad website. Where you book a car and than they book you a random one. So you go there and surely you can see that the exact car is there but they give you another one a complete random. Then you try and ask if it's available then the guy says sure . I'll give you the keys. And he's like mocking you in front of people because he obviously doesn't give the correct keys. Also after asking for correct car this old guy is like '' yo want it or walk away. Why writing contract in a serious manner '' (vw polo vs Peugeot suv [the one I actually booked]) felt like giving this guy a lesson. But hey I was dependent on him at that point.

Having read most of the negative…

Having read most of the negative reviews on this site I certainly had some misgivings about renting a car through them but I'm glad I did. The best thing about this company is the value and simplicity of their service; The price they give you is the price you pay, no rip off insurance and fuel costs; I suspect they're significantly cheaper than the big operators.
I was told when collecting the car (After a wait of 10 minutes) not to worry about the few scratches on the bumper and bring it back with the same amount of fuel. Car was fine 13k on the clock and didn't miss a beat. Wouldn't hesitate to use Pluscar again

We just came to Tenerife

We just came to Tenerife, where we rented a car plus car rental company for 6 days. Rental price was very good 90 eur 6 day full cascade deductible 0 eur. No need for credit cards and no deposit required, additional manager 0. eur. The car was Renault Twingo, (the roof went down, the climate was inside, there was a cruise ship). I strongly recommend taking a car from this rental company because the cars are relatively new, for example we had a mileage of 46,000 km. Reading previous comments and acquaintances, who have been living in Tenerife for years, learned that half of the negative comments were simply written by trollers, as many years ago, when pluscar Tenerife came, many people were forced to close their expensive rental companies or downgrade.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE
Booked a car a month in advance only to find on arrival that they hadn't acknowledged my reservation despite sending me a confirmation email , leaving me to pay full on the day price at another company at the airport.
Service desk at the other company told me this happens all the time.

Representative for the company was unsympathetic and rude.

Steer clear of this company at all cost.

PlusCar stole our money and faked my signature, than stopped responding

Hey guys, I wanna share our negative experience with PlusCar.

About month after our rental of the car, the company took about 100 € from our bank account (in 4 rows, without notice). We contacted PlusCar Tenerife Sur and they told us, that they tried to take 250 € for scratched car and dirty interior.

We immediately provided the pictures as an evidence that we got scratched car directly from them and that we retrieve the car clean.

After many calls and emails, they claimed that the car was damaged by different customer and returned us 50 €. About other 55 € they claimed the car was dirty and did not respond to pictures or anything (of course I have never seen the bill for cleaning of any kind :)), eventually they stopped communicating with us.

We also tried to contacted them via facebook or contact PlusCar Lanzarote, but with the same result. Probably the worst of their doing was that after I requested a scan of rental conditions, explicitly with my signature (having the copy of conditions in my home, knowing I did not sign them), they provided me scan of rental conditions with fake signature..

If you have any experience or suggestion of what to do next, we will be happy to hear it. Martin and Barbora from Czech republic.

DO NOT RENT FROM AUTO PLUS CAR

DO NOT RENT FROM AUTO PLUS CAR! We had a car accident, where another car crashed with us. The accident was not our fault, the police came to the accident place and wrote a report about this. PlusCar told us that we have full insurance and everything will be covered. After we had returned the car, PlusCar took 800 euros from our credit card without any explanation. Now they are not answering my e-mails and it is very difficult to communicate with them. They are doing insurance fraud! We still haven't received any document which says what gives them the right to took money from us. They say that they have full insurance, but they don't!!!

No cars

Be aware, they have lack of cars - after contract signing and payment, you should wait for a car - in our case 3 customers in waiting line - no cars available.

The worst rental car I have ever used

The worst rental car I have ever used. Auto rented in Tenerife. The first contact was very good. I pick up car from airport quickly with no paper work problem. I received in the evening so I had no chance to check his condition, however immediately after entering the car I feel the intense smell of the airfresher or something like that. In the morning next day I saw that this car was wrecck. Every single part inside was dirty, windscreen, stained seats, steering wheel stick like glue etc.
In the trunk was poured oil that stained all the suitcases. Driving longer than 1h caused a headache from the odor of the freshener trying to kill the smell of car oil. Auto had 60 thousand but was max used.
I tried to fill up the water for windscreen sprinkler but found that the reservoir was hole. AC probably has been never clean because the fetor was horrible so we drove with open windows. In the car seat that we received we would be afraid to drive a dog. Fortunately, at the last moment we took our from Poland.
Pluscar was not respond for my complain. At the airport when return car staff man answer short "I don't speak English"
