Five stars for a very good service and great welcoming customer service by JACK at Nandos Bicester ( near the Vue Cinema).
Racist manager experience. I will NEVER return.....
On Friday 5 December 2025 at approximately 1:12pm, I visited the Meadowhall branch of Nando’s hoping to enjoy a rare lunch out alone. Instead, I left deeply humiliated, distressed, and physically unwell after what I experienced as racially profiled and degrading treatment from a female manager.
I am a Black British woman, disabled, and a full-time mother to two severely autistic children. I rarely leave my home due to chronic pain, anxiety, depression and agoraphobia. On this particular day, I had finally managed to go out alone to Apple and Primark without issue and decided impulsively to treat myself to Nando’s, a place I had always associated with comfort and positive memories since childhood.
The branch was extremely busy and customers were being made to queue outside for long periods. I was already in pain and had also requested more suitable seating due to discomfort but was told there was no space available. My order had already been taken without issue by a staff member named Marcuse. The only issue arose when I attempted to validate my old Nando’s card while paying with a gift card. I repeatedly clarified that I was not requesting rewards or free food, only trying to complete payment and sit down because I could not stand comfortably for long.
At that point, the female manager intervened and repeatedly insisted there were “no rewards” on my card despite me calmly explaining multiple times that I already knew this and simply wanted to pay. She then abruptly shouted at me, “Why are you being so rude?” and began criticising me for briefly being on my phone, even though my order was already complete and I was speaking to my sister, who was on her way to chemotherapy and overheard the entire interaction.
I was laughed at directly to my face and again towards another colleague at the till in front of other customers, which I found deeply humiliating. When I said I would report the conduct, the manager arrogantly stated that she “didn’t care.”
I genuinely believe I was profiled and spoken down to because of racial bias and assumptions made about me based on my appearance and the fact I was a Black woman alone. I felt infantilised, degraded and treated as though I was inferior rather than a paying customer. The entire interaction left me shocked because I had never experienced anything like this at Nando’s before in all the years I have visited.
I formally complained to Head Office under reference LEP-017225. Despite the seriousness of the concerns raised, Nando’s chose to rely solely on internal staff accounts and silent CCTV footage without audio. My complaint was dismissed as “miscommunication,” and the conduct was effectively excused. No meaningful accountability was taken, and even a refund was refused despite the fact I was too distressed to eat the food and later threw it away.
What concerns me most is not only the treatment I experienced, but the wider environment this potentially creates for both customers and staff. If a manager feels comfortable publicly humiliating a customer and then saying she “doesn’t care” about a complaint, that raises serious concerns about leadership, professionalism, and safeguarding within that branch.
This experience has genuinely affected my confidence in public spaces and permanently changed how I view the Nando’s brand.
I will never return.
Overall
Overall, I am giving this place 2 stars.
The food itself was actually quite good, and the atmosphere inside was pleasant enough. I especially liked the Great Imitator wrap and the peas side dish. The taste was genuinely enjoyable, which is why I gave the food 4 stars instead of 5. However, for nearly £20 spent overall, I honestly did not feel very full afterwards. The portions felt rather small and not especially satisfying, so I cannot justify a full 5 stars for food.
Unfortunately, the service experience was disappointing, and I gave it only 1 star. If there had been an option for 0 stars, I probably would have selected it.
During my visit, I accidentally spilled my Coke because of an uneven table surface while speaking with a staff member. Since it was cola, my hands became sticky and uncomfortable. As this was my first visit to Nando’s, I also felt awkward and unsure where I could properly wash my hands afterwards. The only help I received was a few napkins. Nobody offered another table, proper assistance with cleaning, or any real concern about the situation. I ended up cleaning everything myself and staying at the same uncomfortable table.
It is disappointing because the atmosphere and food quality had good potential, but customer care during an awkward situation felt very indifferent.
If necessary, I can also provide receipts and visit evidence/photos from the visit.
Out Of Date Gift Card
Received a Gift Card for Nandos for a birthday present. Went to use card and it had expired. I have emailed numerous times and received no reply. Not good customer service, very surprised.

Insane Pricing
Nando’s - what on earth are you thinking charging the prices you do? You’re a fast food restaurant serving basic food. Over £11 for just a chicken breast, over £8 just for a portion of chips?!
Don’t get me wrong here, the pricing is clear and it’s a choice for consumers to pay the prices set, however, for fast food your pricing is absolutely ridiculous for the food you serve.
Side portions are way too small!
Ordering was simple and easy. The food arrived promptly. Now I love a Nando's, but, the portion sizes for their sides are terrible! Over £5 for their mac n cheese and you get enough to feed a small child! Is it supposed to be a kids' size? At least give us a decent portion!

This is for the Sutton Coldfield parade…
This is for the Sutton Coldfield parade branch recently i visited with a family member front of house was friendly and everything was fine we was seated next to the window where the wooden panels covering the windows had come out of the runners at the bottom which could be very dangerous if it came out of the top after looking over at the grill the chef had a very long pony tail that was not covered or in a hair net and the cutlery was filthy all the bottles of sauces had not been cleaned and no one came to see if our meal was ok or take the “chick on a stick” from our table and our chips was not cooked properly
An amazing place to eat at!
An amazing place to eat at!! Great employees especially Ms Nisha and Raussan they are so lovely! Will recommend coming herd to eat out
Terrible value for money
I ordered a hearty bowl salad. All i got was sweet corn and coselaw which I could have got from a supermarket a few gherkins and some sorry looking leaves and I paid £9. It was also advertised as having healthy grains on it. There were no grains at all!!
Went to Nando’s on the boardwalk in…
Went to Nando’s on the boardwalk in Lakeside shopping centre this afternoon with friends. Very quiet but I’d expect that at 4:00pm on a weekday. We went for some food before going to the cinema.
We ordered 3 meals. I ordered mine easy order half a chicken, spicy rise and coleslaw.
Food came out and the portion wasn’t what I expected it at the chicken looked as though it had been quartered. So was told that’s how it is now. Tucked into the chicken breast and it was half cooked. Called the manager over and asked in the end if could re cook my meal.
They did, only to receive the second meal with. Proper breast from half a chicken, tucked into all was good, then started to open up the leg to find it well, undercooked very very pink, slimy and unedible. As it’s the second time. I asked for a refund only to be told inneed to fill out a form to get my money back in 7-10 working days. What the hell…. To add insult to injury we had to leave the film we went to watch as I have had a very bad evening with stomach cramps, the squits, and everything else. I’m not very happy as my evening has been completely ruined.
