GLC roofing a reliable company who has…

GLC roofing a reliable company who has over 20 years of knowledge and experience. I cannot recommend this company enough Their work is outstanding and very clean any questions you have they are willing to answer and show you .
The materials are top quality and the job is done and finished to a very high standard.
The quote was really good and reasonable too .
We had rain and no leaks nothing to complain about.
This company will not let you down .

GGS outdoor service based in Dronfield

GGS outdoor service based in Dronfield
Mark Garner laid new decking, steps and a fence as so I thought only to find he had put new decking on top of rotten wood that made it unsafe and same with the steps which nearly caused a bad accident (7ft drop)
The fence he put up fell down within a month and when I asked him to come and fix it i was ignored even though he gave me a guarantee.
I’ve been trying to get in touch with him for months but doesn’t reply to letters or phone calls
Doesn’t even deserve 1 star or to be on My Builder

MyBuilder is definitely the place to visit

MyBuilder is the 'one shop ' experience for any & all works that anyone may require to help keep their lives flowing smoothly. The fact that all the people/companies are investigated/approved before anyone can book them, gives a great peace of mind & a sense of value to their bio's. Some times "cowboys" slip through the net, but they soon get weeded out quickly. The skill sets (plumber/electrician/damp remover/fence replacer) I've used are still in my contacts list & I have MyBuilder to thank for that.

Brilliant service

Brilliant service. They do all the work for you. You tell them what you want, they supply the applicants. You can see photos of their work and their reviews to help you make your selection. You can ask for as many quotes as you want. What's not to like.

Mom existent service.

What went wrong this time
Hmm where do I start ?
Let's start with the latest shall we, so this is from a real builder, been in the game for getting on 30+ years.
Recently got a request from my builder to verify my account or it would be closed /shut. I tried to find a phone number because it was urgent , no contact phone numbers that work exist, sent a message via contact form, 24 hours later still no response. Got on my builder site gave verification details including bank details but didn't hit last click. 24 hours later guess what, my builder contact me. "There are phishing scams going on from our website, asking for verification", do not respond to these requests, so 1st question why so long to respond and 2nd how are they as loosing this to happen??? They completely washed their dirty hands of any responsibility essentially they couldn't give as mon keys about the people who earn them the money, I have had several punters advertising jobs only to shortlist you, you pay the fees and all they want is free advice, which obviously you don't know till you go and look at the job, my builder hardly ever refunds, so in essence non existent customer service, and no comeback should the customer which is us lads, gets turned over.
Your honour, I rest my case.....

A trades view.

As a tradesperson using this platform it’s rubbish

When you purchase a job my builder have informed me that you are only purchasing contact details and if the customer decides not to respond that this is not their issue if a customer doesn’t reply to your countless attempts to follow up the lead.

I completley appreciate that customers are posting leads to get competing quotes and don’t expect my lead fee to be refunded where I have an opportunity to quote on a job.

However if a customer doesn’t reply to any form of contact and as such leaves me no opportunity to quote then the platform should issue a refund.

This leaves the platform open to misuse and abuse in terms of them generating income or profit.

Won’t use the platform again and advise against other trades people using the platform !

As you know, rather than charging joining and ongoing membership fees as most other websites would, we charge tradespeople a relatively small fee each time they are shortlisted by a customer and contact details are exchanged. We can't guarantee that every shortlist will result in a won job, but to balance things out we keep fees as low as possible so more is made from the site than spent with us over a period of time. As we do not charge subscription fees, tradespeople are always in complete control of which jobs they wish to quote for.

Ensuring the quality of leads is a top priority for us, and we strive to verify the legitimacy of each job post. However, we do understand that issues can arise occasionally - therefore, we have a process in place to consider refunds in cases where a lead does not meet our standards or if you are unable to make contact with the customer. If you encounter a lead that seems suspicious or if you're unable to reach the customer, please contact our team using the details below so we can investigate and assist you promptly.

Rogue Trader

We entered the work we required on MyBuilder and Louis Crowther from ByHandMade responded. To cut a long story short he checked our requirements, gave us a quote and the work was undertaken in October 2025. We were so pleased with the work we asked to undertake a further two projects for us. One was a new dining room table and the other was replacement staircase bannisters, rails, newel posts etc and also make the actual stairs ready to accept a carpet runner up them. I paid him in advance for the required materials. He delivered the table in early January and was due to start the stair work on 12 January 2026. He advised he couldn't start owing to a bereavement which I understood. Then on contacting him further I was advised that his partner was pregnant, had a brain tumour and had fallen down stairs and was going to hospital. I asked if he was still intending to complete the work and was assured me he was. I have sent repeated WhatsApp messages and a couple of emails but have had no response at all. I have since found out that he is notorious on social media as a trader who takes peoples money and disappears. I strongly advise against using this trader.

Harlequin means Attention to Detail

Used a company called Harlequin run by Neil Cheeseman
It has to be said this team were Absolutely fantastic! Nothing was any trouble and the most impressive characteristic about all their workers was the attention to detail. They were so fussy and so precise you would find it hard to find anyone better

Builders have noticed a significant influx of spam leads occurring frequently, which indicates a lack of interest and an absence of effective measures to prevent fraudsters and spammers from accessing the site. This situation also suggests that the pricing of leads is determined by algorithms rather than manual input, reinforcing the notion that the primary objective of the site has shifted to profit generation, thereby neglecting its essential role in connecting traders with customers. This decline has been evident since the change in ownership and the redesign of the website, and unfortunately, the situation seems to be deteriorating further.

Easy to use site

Used My Builder recently to find someone to remove and dispose of two large plants from my back garden.
It was very easy to post the job and ask for tradespeople to contact me if they were interested.
I will definitely use My Builder again should the need arise and have already recommended it to a couple of my friends.

Takes guess work out of choosing a tradesman. Easy to use site. My daughter recommended as her husband an electrician. Found a reliable, trustworthy builder who responded quickly and did the job above and beyond my expectations. Very pleased. Thank you
