Charlatans - AVOID THIS COMPANY
UPDATE - Just received £105 (full offer price) from Mazuma. Why on earth would Mazuma offer me that amount for a water damaged phone?!
SAYS IT ALL. Make up your own mind about this compnay.
Was offered £110 for my iPhone 4s 16gb. Got an email (at 10pm on a Friday night!) saying they received my phone and it was water damaged, including a photo of my phone which showed no damage. Had the phone for over 2 years - in almost mint condition and certainly not water damaged. Had to wait until Monday to speak to somebody (conveniently their phone lines only operate Mon-Fri). Immediately was offered £54 (explain that one!) - told them it wasn't open to offers - that my phone was not damaged and they had 2 options: 1) give me the £110 as agreed or 2) return the phone but if there was any damage (water damage included) I would sue them for the damage and costs etc (threw in the fact that I was a solicitor and that I just wished I had read some of the reviews on here).
How can SO MANY phones be water damaged?!
Phone back today - guess what? In mint condition just as I sent it. Will try Mazuma (which I shoudl have used in the first place!).
AVOID THESE PEOPLE - I'll report them to Trading Standards and the OFT.
Avoid at all costs
I wish I had read the reviews before being enticed by an offer of £70 for my iphone 4. After sending my phone in its original box I received an email to say the screen was damaged and needed a new one plus there was damage to the casing - my phone was sent in immaculate condition as I'd looked after it well and never dropped it once! The photos they sent of the 'damage' were not clear at all. The offer I received was a paltry £11 - this is after I spent £8 sending by special delivery! On calling, although the guy I spoke to was polite they still insisted my phone was damaged though offered an additional £20. I asked to get my phone back and to their slight credit I was returned it with no cost to me - though without original box ( website said return would be £10). There was no damage at all to the casing and screen was as I sent it - obviously not 100% perfect in a 2 year old phone but certainly not warranting a new screen! Will not deal with this company again and am thinking of reporting to Trading Standards.
NEVER USE THEM, AVOID AT ALL COSTS SCAMMERS
Was quotes £85 for iPhone 4 16gb from Mobile Phone Xchange, so I sent my phone in, they said it had water damage and a faulty screen and could only offer me £19, but could top it up to £39 if withdrew in Debenhams vouchers.
I declined and asked them to return my phone.
I re-applied via o2 recycling, they were offering slightly less at £78, but upon receiving my phone, they have said that they will pay the full balance due to the great condition of the handset.
Just proves they type of company mobile phone xchange is, make sure you ask them to return your handset if they do not offer to pay the said value upon receiving the phone!!
SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM they should not be allowed to TRADE.
Report to trading standards!!!!
Worst company ever
Please stay clear of this site !! They are crooks and cons. I sent in two iPhones nearly new and was offered over £100 at forts then when they EVENTUALLY received them I was offered £8 !! They said as with many reviews on here that the phones were water damaged. Please stay clear of them !!
Beware of the scammers!
They quoted £85 for my phone - when I sent it in - they 'discovered' water damage. Fact 1 - my phone has never been in water Fact 2 - another two mobile recycling companies have seen and quoted for my phone and NONE mentioned any water damage. mobile phone xchange are a dishonest company and you are better off not dealing with them at all!
Scam.... Stay away
They quoted £85 for my iPhone 4 and in mint condition perfectly maintained with no internal faults what so ever, was happy with what they were offering I had to get out of work 2hours early so I can get to the post office before it closes to send by special delivery which cost me £7.40 from my own pocket, once received they said its worth £17 because it's water damaged and screen is faulty !!! Oh I really wish I have read the reviews before hand , STAY AWAY FROM THEM !!!!!!!!!
Rip off merchants
Avoid at all costs - £88 quoted and then offered £17 for wear and tear on an iPhone 4 16gb. Have emailed them my opinion and hope to receive the phone back soon. Rather keep it as a spare phone than have them taking the mickey......
Awful!! DO NOT USE THIS DODGY WEBSITE!!
Exactly the same situation as every other person on here it seems!!
Got quoted £119 for my immaculate iPhone 4s 16gb and surprise surprise they've now offered me £24 due to 'severe scratching'. Have sent an email and asked for them to send me the phone back immediately but not confident the crooks will actually give it back to me. Wish I had seen all the other feedback on here before I sent it.
DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! It is clearly a con!
Rip off DONT USE
Was offered £90 by local phone shop for my perfectly working immaculate condition I phone 4s but like a fool never took it and sent to mobile phone exchange instead. Paid £7.95 to send for extra security and wrapped over and over in bubble wrap. Imagine my surprise when quoted £119 to receive email stating that buttons not working and lowered quote to £34 that they would send. I phoned them and demanded my phone back. I wish I had read all the reviews first! DO NOT be a fool and send in as they are nothing more than rip off merchants.
COMPLETE CON
I wish I had read the reviews prior to sending my phone in. I too sent in a perfect condition iPhone to these people only to be told it has water damage and doesn't work.
I am going to take it further as I took a video of the phone prior to sending it.
Please read this and other reviews and avoid!!!!
Do no use this company!
I recently used the services of Mobile Phone Xchange (MPX) to recycle my Apple iPhone 4S (16GB). As requested, I sent the phone with the recharger (in the original box). Subsequently I was notified that the device had water damage (I refute this claim as this device was well looked after and I intend to verify this with Apple). Following a call with MPX's Helpdesk, the device was returned, without the box or recharger, in a poorly packaged parcel. Consequently the screen has been damaged which has now rendered the device valueless.
This is the first time I’ve used Mobile Phone Xchange as I’ve always used Mazuma (from which we’ve always received an excellent service and would highly recommend). Based on my experiences to date, I wouldn't recommend Mobile Phone Xchange to friends or colleagues. I wish I hadn't been wooed by the £££s and stuck with a company of integrity such as Mazuma - a lesson learnt!
Be careful.
As others offered £119 for iPhone 4 s, I paid £5.50 special delivery so it got there in one peice. It took 6 days for them to confirm receipt. They offered £24 due to severe scratches on the screen. The screen was fine nothing other than the usual two years wear an tear as expected. I was disappointed but in their favour I rang up and requested my phone be returned It arrived safely back to me two days later.
Do not use
As others, offered £119 for my iPhone 4S, when they got it they said water damaged (it wasn't), sent me a blurry picture that shows nothing, and offered £24 only.
Utter rip-off.
If I could rate them zero out of 5 I would!
Please do not use!!! Conmen.
I have never felt the need to write a bad review for a company before but mobilephonexchange are a different case, offered £119 for my wife's iPhone 4s 16gb,
Then emailed (with a blurry image of the earphone jack attached) back saying it was water damaged and was only worth £24 a complete lie and a scam.
Avoid at all costs!!!! They may offer the top price on comparison sites but in my opinion this is so they can con more honest people.
STAY AWAY
Use at your own risk!!! Terrible company, quoted me £119 for my iphone and paid me £45 for a Samsung and never responded to my emails!
RIP OFF COMPANY
I wouldn't even give 1 star. They are a complete rip off. Never ever use these. I sent an iPhone 4 which they quoted £119 for. They then sent a revised offer of £24 due to scratches on the screen, which they said can only be recycled. A complete lie. They only then give 5 days until they give you the money and if you don't get in touch, it means you accept the revised offer. But they do not give a method of getting in touch. No phone number on the email they send. I replied to there message but they didn't receive it apparently, so I don't get the phone back. They also claim not to be regulated or have any managers to speak to.
STAY STAY AWAY
I would say after my experience the last two weeks I should have gone else where, obvious this company paid someone to come hi in list of compare / recycle phones.
which stated this company has a five star rating load of bull, I would give them 10 stars for messing people about and being slow. One piece of advice which I didn't do, I usually do a google search for company reviews, I forgot this time but never again.
Do NOT Use.
Sent my phone 1 whole month ago now and they're still claiming that they have NOT received the phone. (Funny, because it's recorded delivery)
Every time I ask, they say that they cannot confirm the delivery of it without the recorded delivery code thing. Odd, as that's for my use and my use only.
Saying I'm a bit peeved would be an understatement.
A TOTAL CON - SHOULD BE STOPPED BY TRADING STANDARDS
I sent them my phone that they quoted £25 for. They emailed saying they would only pay £4. They stated the reason that it was valued less - then listed a variety of reasons but didnt say specifically what was personally wrong with mine. None of the options they stated applied to my phone!
I replied to their email as it advised to if I wasn't happy and I asked them to return my phone which they say you can do. I never got a reply or my phone back and today they've paid me £4.
I looked on another website and if they do return your phone they charge £10 so I am in a lose/lose situation.
Don't use because I am an honest consumer and this company in my opinion is a total con.
great price
sold two phones now would'nt hesitate in recommending to friends
