Thought i received a scam email
Was going to sell my phone and get an upgraded EE device so I requested a pack to send my old phone back safely, in exchange for money off my new device. I ordered the wrong phone so I decided not to return my phone for money off n cancelled the upgraded plan. That was in July 2025, I haven't heard anything from them until today when an email from noreply@mobilephonexchange, stated i return my old device to them or I get £216 charge added to my next bill, wow, I didn't send my phone in cos I decided to not upgrade it n now getting threatening letters, so I came online to check if someone had gotten hold of my details to send me a scam email n I find out it's legit. Disgraceful. Now i need to ring EE on the phone number i have for them, NOT THE NUMBER THERE SENT ME, to query this
Don’t trust they will rip you off
Went with this company as they are aligned to EE! Disappointed in EE for recommending and even more disappointed with the service! I had two phones to trade in mine and my daughter’s- one sent to Mobile Phone Exchange and the other to Music Magpie to see the comparison. The phone was sent by special delivery, they were slow to review and then offer 20% less than the quoted value! Not worth the effort to return And they know this - had already paid for special delivery on their suggestion! Utter con! The other phone I sent to Music Magpie - was paid within 2 days and offered more money for the same phone in worse condition!!
FRAUDSTERS
FRAUDSTERS - ONCE THEY RECIEVE YOUR PHONE THEY WILL QUOTE YOU A PRICE UP TO 80% LOWER CLAIMING THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THE HANDSET. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. WILL BE REPORTING TO TRADING STANDARDS.
A mess of a company.
Poor poor company. Have listed an item, which had been listed for days at a very good price. Therefore, I placed several orders to recycle this phone, only for after a few orders, I was presented with a message saying that I can't access my account as an error has occurred.
I contacted customer service and they have stated that the price listed for the item was an error and has been rectified and they cannot provide a price for my phones.
Caused me a large loss as I actually purchased items to sell to them
Shame on you EE
seeing a pattern here with these reviews quoted me.£210 for a iPad pro then when recieved sent me a photo saying white dots on LCD (couldn't even see them) I check on Google just a simple reset sorts now offering me.£105 first time used never again sorry to say bunch of thieves and so unhappy with ee

Sent my phone off to this sham of a company. Was quoted £140. Got an email to say that it was cracked and they would offer me £70 instead. They told me to apply for compensation from Royal Mail.
Refused the offer and asked for the phone to be sent back after reading the reviews. Phone just arrived good as new !
Do not trust anything these people say! Avoid like the plague !!
Reading the reviews they do this a lot !

Was offered £120 for my iphone 6 then recieved a revised offer for £15 telling me the phone had a display problem, recieved it back and it was perfectly fine, but they also kept the charger and lightning cable along with original box. Avoid them at all costs and apple need to investigate
Would give No stars if I could
Would give No stars if I could. This is the first time trying this company through EE, and the fourth time I have recycled a near perfect phone. Sent it off and they’ve sent back a quote for half the original because of a cracked screen (picture they sent doesn’t show a crack!!) and a damaged case (my phone has spent it’s life in a outer case so that’s just rubbish). I will go back to using Mazuma who have not once ripped me off in all the times I have used them. I would ask for the phone back but suspect it wouldn’t come back to me in as good condition as I sent it off in! Will be complaining to EE and Brightstar in the morning.
Reduced quote
Was quoted £276 for my iphone 6 128GB. It's in perfect condition and has never come out of it's case since i bought it. Got an message today saying it had been received but the offer has been reduced to £211 as "Apple iPhone 6 128GB - Enclosure is bent"
i phoned them to request where the bend on the devise was, as i'd sent the phone in with the case still on to protect it during transit. Also if the device was bent the phone wouldn't fit the case anymore.
They offered to send it back with a technical report of the device. Waiting to see what their report says and show where the bend is.
I get the feeling this business uses the quote to suck customers in, then reduces the offer in the hope that most people won't ask for their device back.
Fast, fair and fuss free
I found a comparison website and mobile phone exchange offered the highest amount for my iPhone 5c. The packaging arrived the next day and I posted my phone the day after that. I received an email 2 days after that and the exact amount of money I was initially offered was paid into my bank 2 days after that. Just under a week to compete the whole transaction. Excellent service and I would use again.
Got the price promised in a week
Whenever i have sent them any phones I have always received the amount they quoted. Not sure why others have received different service but the phones i send are most of the time brand new. My advice would be to always send with special delivery if the phone is worth a bit. I sent one with the free option and it took about 7 days for them to receive it.
Do not trust them! They will rip you off
I was offered less than 50% of what they initially quoted, due to incorrect claims (like it was locked to a network, which wasn't true), so I asked for my phone to be returned.
I was, after chasing them several times, told it had been recycled already 'by mistake'. They finally paid up one day before I was talking them to the Small Claims Court - avoid them, they give incorrect reasons for reducing the price - it took over a month to get this resolved, with many mails and calls.
1 Star is at least one star too much!!
phone recycle
I was offered £90 for iphone 5c 32g then when i sent phone they offered £45 as said screen was cracked i asked for phone back and guess what no cracked screen
Avoid this company rip offs
Rip Off - AVOID
I have been sent a photo of a completely undamaged screen, claiming that it is damaged. I have been offered £68 for a phone in excellent condition, in perfect working order. Seriously avoid this lot.
AVOID THIS COMPANY!
Similar to other unhappy customers, I was lured in by the attractive quote and foolishly forgot to check the reviews.
The company are running a complete scam! I sent in my perfect condition iPhone 5S and was offered £155 however this was reduced to £77 after inspection by their 'experts'. The stated the reduction in price was due to a cracked screen, however the photo they attached to the quote showed my screen in perfect condition.
I phoned them up to demand my phone to be sent back free of charge and fortunately I have received it in good condition.
Please avoid this company at all costs!
Did the job
I received offer of £150 for my Microsoft Surface over double any other site. Was a bit worried when I sent it in and offer was reduced to £0 given it was in near perfect condition especially given negative reviews.
Phoned them up and polite lady explained it was an admin error in warehouse and that I'd get full amount in 3 working days and that turned out to be the case
Offer the best price and then deduct money off for minor wear and tear
I've used a few mobile recycle companies , o2 , Tesco , Envirophone but Mobilephone exchange are without doubt the worst i have ever dealt with .
They offer the best online price and then deduct anything they see fit for minor blemishes ..i received roughly half the online price as it had slight damage on the top metal ( scuffs) and it did not have a rear cover ...well it did , it had an official samsung protection cover ( front and back ) - the phone was in perfect working order and no screen marks at all ...never again will i use this company
DON'T USE - RIP OFF
I sold my phone to MPE on the back of being offered a reasonable price for it, it was in mint condition (I had it in a case since I had it) however soon after they had received it I had an email from them saying there was a small crack (break)in the case. There was nothing wrong with the case at all! I know this for a fact as I checked it over before I sent the phone off. They should not promise a price they have no intention of paying! will never use them again nor recommend them to anyone. PS I don't often write reviews but felt I should make people aware that this company rip people off.
WISH I'D LOOKED AT THE REVIEWS BEFORE!
Like a lot of other people, I have now experienced this company.Sent my fully working Iphone 4s after being offered £57 on their website, only to be told it's worth £2 because there is supposed to be water damage, casing problems and the touch screen is not working. This is total rubbish - the phone was working perfectly 5 minutes before I put it in the box to post to them. I've asked them to return the phone but hope it doesn't come back in the state they described it to be in! I have complained to Hertfordshire Trading Standards about the company and would strongly urge others to do the same. It's the only way to get them shut down.
