Worse than you can imagine.
It's genuinely staggering to me that these guys can continue to survive with customer service as bad as it is. It almost feels like they're intentionally pranking you at times with how frustrating they can be to deal with. I'm a fairly easy-going person, and I understand that sometimes things just go off the rails. But the complete lack of competency and care on their part is incredible.
I ended up having to cancel my account 2 weeks after opening after wasting over 2 hours on the phone with them before even being able to create an online account.
Online and phone banking people are horrible
Online and phone banking people are very non serious and careless. They can do anything wrong to save their skin. I am preferring to close my card right away after at least ten bad experiences (almost every time)
Horrible online banking
Horrible online banking. Can't get any recent transactions, the company has no way of informing you of a transaction and when you have a fraud alert they make you fill out a form all well you're being ripped off. This might be the worst and scariest
credit card experience. Be careful if you go with MBNA.

I'm very thankful ,,MBNA is #1 service is helpful they explain me what ever I need to know, thank you so much.
Want to be miserable? Try their Customer Service
They never asked me to set up a passcode while on telephone call. Need it to activate my new card. When I call to activate - it asks for it. Need to set it up - no worries, just know what's your credit limit AND the last payment you made AND god knows what. Called helpdesk and on hold WITHOUT KNOWING HOW LONG or HAViNG AN OPTION FOR THEM TO CALL ME BACK. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED MBNA. You suck.
Customer service is non existing
Customer service is non existing! Fraud dept closes at 10 pm, lol. Yet they advertise 24 hour 7 day a week service for fraud etc issues! I spend hours on hold anytime I need customer service. I have never dealt with such lack of help with any other credit card or bank in all my experience!
Difficult online and calling
Almost impossible to open online account. Lacks everything that I expect in being professional. Very difficult communications with heavy accents. I will just drop them as a bad experience.
What a waste of plastic
What a waste of plastic. Can't even log into my account 90% of the time. They should be put out of business!!
Worst customer service of all credit card
Worst customer service of all credit card company and they can't even create a website with Canadian Date format. They have to use american date format. No functionnality to download transaction to excel, quicken or anything else.
Ruined my credit score
I had an Amazon credit card never missed a payment. I got caught up in an online debt help scam which I quickly got out of within 30 days. I didn't even know it had gone through. I continued paying my bill as usual. MBNA put in a derogatory rating to the credit bureau. Even tho I paid the balance off and nothing went through any debt programs they still cancelled my card and my credit is now poor from the derogatory rating they put in. Stay away!!!

Poorest customer service agent ive encountered in some time.
BRUTAL customer service waits
BRUTAL customer service waits. I just sat on hold for 40 mins, until 1 minute past their regular business hours, so the guy told me to call back during business hours. I've called 3 times and have yet to get through in under 30 mins.
Do not apply for MBNA credit cards
Worst customer service. Known to reduce credit limit without any prior notice or provide any reason. Very arrogant customer service agents. Do not do any business with MBNA or TD banks or any TD affiliated companies. You will regret if you do.
One of worst credit card
One of worst credit card, customer services. Even though, if call a report a lost and stolen card you have to hold more than hours. Meantime someone stolen use that card anywhere they want. No real protection the fraud and unanimous transaction. Hold more than hr, still no use. Please never apply for a credit card from MBNA.
Only got this card to get 5 measly %…
Only got this card to get 5 measly % back on Amazon. Stopped using it 7 months ago. Only ever used it online at Amazon. Just got a fraud text from MBNA saying five purchases at PC Express were made in two days. Called the number and was on hold for over an hour. Hung up and tried the login to their website and 'speak to an agent immediately' plan. Ha, couldn't make an account no matter what I tried. No email contact nothing. What a useless institution. Figure fraud cases using the number they send you would be a bit more of a priority. Got back on the phone on hold for another hour and the Agent said there would be an investigation and I would be notified in my next bill whether or not I would be charged. No wonder TD is the lowest rated bank in Canada and Mastercard is a pos. Visa would have called me direct and taken care of it right away but not MBNA Mastercard. The agent said they would cancel the card and issue a new one as if I wanted to have it compromised yet again, lol. I never used it at a terminal only online for Amazon. There's a breach somewhere. Cancelled.
I just hanged out the phone and I am…
I just hanged out the phone and I am still in shock. I can't believe that they closed my card which I Paid on time and never missed any payment. I had financial problem for couple of months and I still paid them yesterday I closed all the amount because I loved mbna and their offers I ve been using it last 7 years and they closed jt an a sec once I did all my payment. It is not fair it s ridiculous. Even I will have a great score I will never apply to mbna. I still can not believe it woow. Thank you.
MBNA is probably the worst bank and…
MBNA is probably the worst bank and credit card. I am a 30 years experience business man and i have used all of them. MBNA is the worst, and by a mile.
Their biggest issue is that they hold the payments on your card for 10 business days ! I have been with them for 7 years, buying 80k per month and every time I make a payment, they hold it and remove it from my available credit of course. You cant operate a business, have a budget to respect with this card as the payments holds will handcuff you. Their customer service is also the worst, ,there is always nothing they can do on top of saying falsitites and stupidities such it's your bank that's holding the funds for that luck. I am huge client, never one NSF but yet they apply their small and pop rules to all customers, disrupting my business month after month. Angelina a manager I spoke to over there on Aug 31 at 11am was totally useless but you could tell she is not given the tools to help customers out. She is just the unlucky one being yelled at all day cause MBNA only cares about one thing, its profits, not concerned not even a bit about its customers' interests. Once I called to request a credit limit increase (I have 40k and i spend like 80k every month steady for 7 years....) and the answer I got was: ''do you really think we grant credit limit increases in this COVID era ? Not looking at my history for even a minute. I gave up and went and open another card which welcomed me with open arms.
STAY AWAY !!!
It’s the credit card that keeps on taking…down to the very last cent!
I was not happy with this company and decided to pay off my balance and close the account. Before making what I thought would be my last payment, I called to check on any transactions that hadn’t gone through yet (was told there were none), I asked them to calculate interest and then I rounded up, paid the balance and asked them to preemptively close my account. The next statement I received showed that they received my payment, but they charged me interest and apparently there were two more “outstanding” charges. Unhappy, and wanting to just be rid of them, I paid exactly what they said I owed, called customer service, and asked them to send me proof of a zero balance. They assured me that everything was cleared up and my next statement would show zero and that the account was closed.
Imagine me getting a bill from them today for literally $.01. Furious, I logged into my bank app and paid their stupid bogus 1 cent charge, called customer service, and asked for an explanation. I was told it was a “balance transfer” charge, but they couldn’t explain where it came it from. It’s taken over two months of “paying in full” and they are still finding reasons they can’t justify for sending me more bills. The icing on the cake was them sending me a brand new card a full month after I closed the account.
I just cannot get rid of this company and I’m afraid that some day, years from now, a fraction of a cent (deemed still outstanding) will show up on my credit bureau report but with interest will be in the thousands.
MBNA is seriously giving Hotel California vibes. You can check out any time you want, but you can never leave.
Worst Customer Service I have ever…
Worst Customer Service I have ever experienced. Calls being dropped in the middle of a call. Website is NOT user friendly. Unable to do the balance transfer, which was the reason for applying for the card in the first place. Cancelled my account within an hour of activating it.
Unnecessary and unethical charges.
Their 0% interest transfer is a total rip off. Applied for a new credit card with the requested balance transfer request at the same time. got approved for a card for the exact amount of the transfer, then they charged the balance transfer fee which put us over the credit limit they gave (cause they only gave the exact amount of the transfer as a limit) and then charged us an over the limit fee. which put us over the limit even further on the first statement thus we will incur another over the limit fee. Horrible customer service.
