We rented out of Merida Mexico, at the airport. I'm terrible remembering names, but I believe our agents name was Marco, and if that is incorrect I apologize. Anyway, we had EXCELLENT service and couldn't be happier with our experience. Our Spanish is not great, but Marco spoke English so that was a pleasant surprise. The car we had was in beautiful condition, and we had no issues all week. Friendly staff, from the counter to the van driver, to the guy who was at the car to hand us the keys. I highly recommend Localiza, and we will definitely be renting with them again.

STAY AWAY FROM LOCALIZA COMPANY!!!!!
We had a really bad experience with Localiza company due to the flat tire that we had to repair ourselves at the side of the highway with major traffic. The tires of the car and its pressure were not well maintained as an orange lamp in the cockpit indicated when we took it over at the airport in Pereira. We asked a Localiza employee about it but he said we should ignore it. The orange lamp still lit up after change of the tire (lucky we took a foto).
Above all the charged us for 3 hours delay(we came late due to the tire.
after several emails corresponds Localiza admitted the tire incident and took the responsibility (by that they improved we were in danger). after endless Emails they asked us to pay just for returning the car several hours late.
We agreed to pay but than you can't pay with credit card nor bank transfer. only with Colombian card or bank account.
at the end i asked a local friend to pay this amount for us.
Actually, We were expected and looking forward for an apology letter(Email) and even a desire to compensate for giving us broken car on purpose
as the car was not handed over to us in a proper condition causing real safety risks for us.
People do yourself a favor and stay away from Localiza!!! better walking or bus

Localiza continue to send me emails informing me of a rental that I have made in Brazil for the period 16th Jan - 13th Feb, despite me not being in the country during this time. I have advised them on this on multiple occasions; there only response being that I now have 4 points on my licence and a fine due as ‘I’ was caught speeding. The customer service is non existent. Do not use this company. They will hold your details on their system and then assign additional rentals on to your account and do nothing when you inform them of the error.

The only response I received back from Localiza was requesting that I unblock my credit card; for a booking I didn’t make!!
Another speeding ticket received today, no further to understanding why they insist I was driving a car in Brazil at the same time as actually being in Australia.
The drivers name on the booking is not even mine. How is this assigned to my account????!!!!?!!????!
DO NOT USE this company; zero customer service. No one actually looking into the problem.

I booked a car with Localiza, through Booking.com as part of one of the Latam Airlines group of partners and both the experiences through Booking.com and at Localiza pick up desk were very professional and uncomplicated. Very pleasant team to deal with.
The only thing I would comment is that is a little burocratic as I had to present all documents again, even after have informed in advance. It would be good to be able to upload in advance to save time at the checking guest.
Overall, good service, good car and I will be using it again.

Beware of the charges on your Credit Charge. I have been charged 12% mark up without knowing. They blame my C.C. company but the issue is with them. They do not take responsibility for their actions. I am challenging this with my Credit Card company currently. The is one positive, the car so far has been good. That's all!

On a positive, the car was a slight upgrade on what I ordered, however, upon
arriving at Terminal 3 at Cancun Airport it was unclear where the Localiza desk was, eventually a stranger directed us to a shuttle pick up point where we waited a long time for a Localiza van to eventually show up and take us to the desk, via a location outside the airport so they could pick up their colleague.
Worse, I was forced to buy additional insurance at the desk, despite having 'full coverage' from booking.com.
Their claim was that I was not insured to drive the car and therefore couldn't legally drive away without purchasing the extra insurance at the desk - this would be the first instance of my paying to rent a vehicle that doesn't include all of the facilities required to actually drive the car, especially having purchased ‘Full Coverage’ at the time of booking, therefore I believe the representative at the desk was scamming me, probably for commission.
The car was in poor condition and absolutely covered in marks and body panel damage.
At some point halfway through the rental period the engine light came on the dash, which is not ideal when you can go for miles without seeing another vehicle on some of the highways with poor mobile reception in Mexico.
Overall maybe the worst rental company I've used, avoid!

Rent a car at Rio De Janeiro. Had pay for insurance because the one I pay at the time of my reservation was not the one from them. Pay the total insurance again and they ask me for more money to make sure the car will be covered if something happens after I had pay for total insurance twice for the car. Now I’m trying to contact them because they are saying I did not pay the insurance ( that I can prove I did with my bank statement) and now I have a speed fee to pay that they took from my bank card even without my permission, because I have sent a email to them saying that they are not allowed to use my card for anything. I already try to send a email or call them to solve the problem but they are not answering my calls or email. DONT USE THIS AGENCY, THEY WILL KEEPING CHARGING YOUR CARD FOR THINGS YOU DONT KNOW. WORSE AGENCY EVER TO USE.

Hired a car in Pereira, Colombia. Apart from the pick up taking a little while due to the digital signing, quite a few document, and my slow phone connection, the car rental was great and had no issues at all.
I chose full insurance and cleaning, this was a short rental and the relatively small amount was worth t for piece of mind, so there was no problem at drop off either.
They are also open at the weekend and slightly longer hours than the other rentals.
They don't need you to remortgage your house for a deposit.

The first car rental with Localiza went okay, from January 19-24. However the second rental in Sao Paulo, from 24-26 went horribly. First there was an unmentioned issue with the VW T-Cross we rented, which caused a major issue when trying to fill the car up with gasoline - this is from two separate gas stations and workers struggling to fill the car with gasoline. Upon drop-off we explained this, in detail, to the Localiza worker. Instead of listening and acknowledging the problem, the Localiza worker treated us in a condescending manner and insulted the gas station workers for being "lazy". He, unnecessarily took up extra time to show us what a "full" fuel gauge looked like on another VW T-Cross as if we were idiots. We tried again to explain to him the faulty fuel filler issue with the car, but he again ignored us and simply stated the car needed to be returned with full gas. I am aware of this as it is part of the agreement, but given the nature of the issue this was exceedingly difficult to do.
I have never had such a horrible interaction with a business or it's associates, it's absolutely unbelievable. I will not be using Localiza again, and will ensure to recommend other rental agencies for vehicles to friends traveling to Brazil.

I rented a car from Localiza, and while it was parked in a parking lot, someone hit it. Even though the incident wasn’t my fault, I was charged over $350 as a deductible based on the contract, which I wasn’t aware of at the time. When I returned the car, the staff assured me that Localiza would refund the money once they recovered it from their insurance. However, they later went back on their word and refused to return the amount.
It seems Localiza gets their vehicles repaired through insurance but still charges customers additional fees, leaving you questioning what those charges are even for. This feels unfair, especially when the damage wasn’t caused by me.
I can no longer trust this company and would advise others to be cautious when renting from them. Make sure you fully understand their terms and policies before signing anything.
