Fiat Argo is bad car for Brazil " highways", with so many trucks blocking your way. Tickets from trafic infrations are debit direct to your credit card, with no chance to dispute. If you have a month contract and want to have a better car, you canot. You have to change for monthly to weekly contract and start again with weekly charges... No " consumer oriented" service, it is all about profits. Bad experience . Have a large international company instead that cares about you.

I rented a car prior to arriving to Colombia. They were supposed to pick us up at the airport but they never showed up. Other car rental companies kept on telling us that their van should come about every 20 min and they never did. After 2 hours of waiting for their car to arrived and leaving more than 3 voicemails my family and I decided to take a taxi and went to their office. When we told them that we had been calling they claimed that the phone never rang and said that I had called the wrong number. I immediately called and the phone rang when they answer I told them that it was me and that this was the number that I had been calling to which they ignored me. It took us about 4 hours to get the car. Their agent that took care of us was very arrogant and denied that I had called. Would not use this car rental again!!!!!!!

Unfortunately I rented a car from RentingColombia, or Localiza RentaCar.
If you are not a resident of Colombia, if you are an overseas visitor, I would not recommend renting with this company.
I rented a vehicle in December, and was entitled to a refund form the service after the car was returned. The reimbursement process is not acceptable, it has been 4 months of unsuccessful communication with their agents. 4 months, I still do not have a refund. And if you do not have an account in Colombia, forget about your money.
I think they are playing the waiting game, and expecting that I'd eventually gave up and just forget about the refund.

They never refunded my R$ 1,000 that they charged as a security payment on my card. Every time I contact them about it they say that they already did it. My Amex card say that they don’t have any history of it in their system. Who’s lying. Amex or Localiza?

Waited for over an hour only for them to tell me that neither one of my credit cards are accepted by their machine. Called the bank to make sure everything was ok and of course everything was clear on the banks end. So that leaves the problem at Localiza rent car. They are incapable of finding solutions. They don’t accepts credit cards and can’t tell you why and won’t accept cash. Do not rent from them they are incompetent, unprofessional and have poor service!

I would give this company zero as they do not speak English and advise any European or American NOT to rent off them. They have a competitive price, but my car stopped working and the 0800 number they give does not work using a European phone and they do not answer E mails! Luckily with Brasilian friends they managed to speak to Localiza for me and the answer was that Localiza FLORIANOPOLIS have so many cars being dealt with broken down that they could not attend to me until today 24 hours later!
No apologies given! Instead of changing the car he has just left it being charged up so the same problem will occur again. THEY MUST CHANGE THE CAR!

It’s been three months and they can or want to fix issues related to a wrong traffic violation registered under by name and money refund. Stay away. Shady practices and zero customer service contact.

Worst company ever. My wife left her phone on the car when returning the car. We went ask to see the car ans they told us it was rented out again. Then the representative named Angie told me to get out or she would call security, when she realize we were recording the conversation. When we were leaving she told the security guard to lock us and was demanding to check our phone or she won’t let us leave. She let us leave until I deleted the recording. Then we wanted to return the car earlier and they wont give us a refund for early return. Worse experience ever dont rent from them.

Air Conditioning did not work.
Heavily tinted windows, which are too dark to see out of at night making the car dangerous.
Con with car cleaning.
This firm are constantly looking for ways to make extra cash from you and they try to charge you for things which are not due. Untrustworthy.
At collection we were bombarded with questions and forms, most of which information had already been supplied. Then they told us we had to pay a 'car cleaning charge', which was not mentioned when we booked the car, we declined and said that we would clean the car ourselves. We were not offered any paperwork to prove the condition of the car, in fact is was dark when we collected it. It the daylight we saw lots of little dents and scratches. They gave us a car, with heavily tinted windows, which at night was extremely dangerous as I could not see the road, I was reduced to driving when I could follow another vehicle only. Sadly, I had a lot of night driving ahead of me. I have never driven in such perilous circumstances. Halfway through the hire, we whatsapped Localiza, who told us to take the car to MDE to change it. We drove all the way to MDE and they just tore the tinting from the front window and refused to change the car. After this the A/C stopped working whilst we visited some of the hottest towns. It was super uncomforable to drive, but at least we could see out of the front window. When we booked the car, we paid a fee to leave the car at a different airport. We then extended the car hire length and paid an extra fee, also changing the return airport. Before returning the car, we went to have it cleaned inside and out and the guys did an excellent job for less that localizas cleaning charge. We dropped the car off and localiza tried to charge us a cleaning charge, even though the car had been cleaned 15 minutes earlier. They showed a photo of some dust on the two front car mats, from where we had got in 15 minutes earlier. We asked for the keys back so that I could go and take the mats out and shake them, they refused. After a BIG argument, they dropped the cleaning charge. They then charged us $20,000 cop for fuel. This car takes $100,000 to fill the tank. We filled the tank before returning the car, but just as we got to the airport, 1 bar, about a 1/16th of a tank, the bar dropped. So we should of paid 1/16 of $100,000 cop. We should of paid no more than $6,000 - again a rip off. Then they told us we had to p ay a fee, for returning the car to a different airport. This was paid for before dropping the car off and again agreed when we charged airport via whatsapp. I think the service is awful, you are not treated like customers but more like abusers, who need punishments. With regards to all of the fees they want to charge, it feels like the staff are on commission and are encouraged to rip people off. I cannot recommend this firm, the only reason for 2* is the car was ok, other than the A/C and the blackened out screens, and they have plenty of coverage in Colombia. You need your wits about you with this company, they are out to get you. Keep a record of everything.

I’ve been renting from Localiza - Downtown Rigo Negrrroo location, Colombia every month for the past years. I even reached Platinum member status which offers expedited check in and vehicle pick up. However, after 2 years as a loyal and responsible customer, customer service at the Localiza branch at Downtown Rio Negrroo and worsened. On December 29, 2022, I once again traveled to Medellin, Colombia. I made a reservation at Localiza - Downtown Rio Negrro Branch. Upon my arrival at the Localiza location, I wasn’t even greeted as I normally for the past 24 visits over the past 2 years. There seems to be new staff and they seem be unapproachable and unfriendly. The basics of customer service does not seem to exist any longer.
For the past 2 years, the staff at downtown Rio Neeegrooo office would drive the rental car to me for easy retrieval of vehicle. However, on December 29, 2022, Localiza front desk agent Ana María Mendieta Rendón was unfriendly and very passive. Once I supplied the required documents, she informed me that I can walk out to the massive car parking lot and retrieve the issued rental vehicle. Despite the fact that I had to walk out on my own with my heavy luggage in tow, I had to try to identify 1 vehicle out of several hundred of the same make and model that is already parked. Also, I was damaging my luggage due to the crude, uneven and broken parking lot that had large patches of broken cement everywhere. That’s a liability issue if a customer should fall and injure themselves.
Also, this location does not even have an express line for platinum members. One is forced to wait in a long line. Basically, being a platinum member has no real value as the employees don’t seem to recognize the status.
Once I retrieved the vehicle, I found the vehicle to be dirty inside and out. There was splashes of dirty and mud on the backseat. There was also dust on the dashboard. The operation of the vehicle was disappointing. The car kept veering to the right and lacked alignment.
During my 3rd day of having the rental in my possession, I was unfortunately struck by a Venezuelan Rappi delivery driver on a motorcycle who wasn’t supposed be to working, who was not paying attention and slammed into the driver side door of the vehicle. I contacted Localiza, made a report and kept the car until the return date.
On January 3, 2023, I drove back to Localiza Rio Neegrooo to return the vehicle as I was returning home. After informing the agent who was receiving returning vehicles of the damage caused by idiot motorcycle driver, I was informed that I had to pay 763,000 pesos despite the fact that I’ve already paid into a basic insurance plan that Localiza forces you to purchase before checking out the vehicle.
Localiza Rio-neegro fails to inform clients what exactly the Basic insurance plan covers. Unfortunately, it only covers 3rd party damage which does not make any sense. According to the agent, the plan would only cover a 3rd party vehicle in the event that I would be at fault an accident. Also, if a Localiza client gets into a an accident and is not at fault, the client is still responsible for the damage on the rented vehicle.
I, as a platinum member of Localiza find this to be atrocious and misleading. I will certainly look elsewhere to rent cars and will no longer give my business to Localiza. I implore clients to look elsewhere as well. At least some of the other rental companies value one’s business and more so if you’re a platinum member.

i had made a reservation four weeks in advance for an SUV for 7 passengers and when i went to pick it up, I was asked to provide additional information which was ridiculous to begin with since all it is needed was a credit card and passport and a license. After all these new paperwork was needed I was told no SUV's were available even thought they were at least 7 on the lot. I was told that they were not able to rent any of them. To make a long story short, I was there fro 3 and a half hours and I left without any car and i had to go someplace else at the airport which I was able to rent a car without so many paperwork. this is my last time i am renting a car with Localiza and i will advise not to rent any cars with them.

Discrimination and bad service. Firstly, they descriminante between nationalities. I am married to a Brazilian but because I am not Brazilian we were not allowed to drive more than 3000 KM (if you are Brazilian you can get 5000 KM) it ruined all our plans, as we had a big road trip planned. Secondly, we rented for 1 month and because the agency is closed the day of return they forced us to rent 1 month and 1 day (the 1 extra day is way more expensive than the monthly rate). Horrible service!

Credit Card Fraud - If you rent from this company, SAVE A COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL CONTRACT AND ALL RECEIPTS AT CHECKOUT. They will continue to overcharge your credit card for 6 months after returning the car. If you disable your credit card, they will send FALSIFIED versions of your contract and signature to your bank to force more charges to your credit card. They conduct business illegally. I rented in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro late 2021.
There's a huge difference in price if you rent a car from the web page compared to their phone application.
Rented a premium car for 27 days in Cali, Colombia, at the airport at a high cost, but car had issues, when I tried to replace it, they refused to do so claiming company policy is not to change cars. Horrible customer service, crazy ridiculous rule sthat I have to pay for something i don't like, and terrible service when I call to complain. Never again!
Excitedly we landed at Brazil’s São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport on June 4th, 2022. We were there to spend just under a month with relatives and had previously made our Localiza booking online. We arrived at the Localiza facility, paid all kinds of insurances for our Jeep Compass Diesel vehicle, and then drove off to follow our relatives as we ourselves did not know the way to the residence which was more than one and half hours away. In less than two minutes after we departed our Jeep Compass lost acceleration and stalled on the entrance to a major highway. Our relatives eventually made their way back to us. We do not speak Portuguese, so they contacted Localiza over the phone to explain what had occurred. The Localiza representative advised us to pack all our luggage into our relative’s vehicle and leave their stalled vehicle exactly where it was and proceed home. They said that they would collect the faulty vehicle themselves and promised to have a replacement vehicle sent to us that very day. Later that evening at our residence, Localiza delivered to us another Jeep Compass Diesel and we thought that they had redeemed themselves. We were sadly mistaken. Reportedly, Localiza took more than two hours to collect the first stalled vehicle. We received a call later the same day from Localiza telling us that they vehicle they told us to leave at the entrance of the highway had been broken into and the one of the windows was smashed. To add insult to injury, within two days of receiving the replacement, it too stalled on us with the very same problem. Loss of acceleration. This time it was at night, and we were in a lonely mountainous region. Angrily we demanded another replacement vehicle but a different type of vehicle as clearly the Jeep Compass Diesel had a problem. We had to go all the way back to the Localiza GRU airport location where they issued us with a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. We were promised a discount on our rental for our troubles. Disappointingly, this discount never materialized. Fortunately, we had no further vehicle problems while in Brazil. However, to our utter shock upon returning home, we received an email containing the charges for the broken glass of the very first vehicle which stalled on us. Localiza is charging us more than $2,000 for the repairs. They have given us a deadline of August 8th, 2022, to pay and have threatened that failure to pay will result in my name being negative publicity in Brazil. So, in addition to spoiling our vacation in Brazil with faulty vehicles, we are being penalized for following the direction of the Localiza agent. This is horrific service. I could not imagine that any customer in a first world country would have to experience anything remotely similar. We will not ever recommend Localiza, they have no concept of what service means.
I have rented several cars from Localiza. I have used the El Dorado (Bogota airport), Rionegro (Medellin airport), the Santa Marta, Barranquilla, and Pereira airport locations as well.
Overall the staff has been OK, some are nice and some not so much. All the cars we have rented were in good condition but they usually have a lower end model of Renault for rent.
One thing I always ALWAYS do is make sure the car is in good sunlight (Barranquilla tries to rent out of a garage and Santa Marta is in a parking garage as well) and I make a very detailed video of the car on the outside and the inside. I point out any scratches and/or stains. They turn in process is usually pretty good but please understand that in Colombia they will charge you a basic cleaning fee. This can’t be avoided.
If your car is really really dirty it might even be worth it to spend $10-15 to have the car cleaned before bringing it back to the turn in point. (Think beach sand and lots of wet stuff being put in the car)
If you just need basic transportation then localiza will probably work, just don’t expect miracle service.
Terrible and inefficient system. I reserved a car, the reservation was cancelled and no one told me. When I arrive to Localiza Leme/SP, Brazil I was told they had no cars available.
Fabiana Freitas, the staff from this agency called several people and after 45 minutes I had to ask my brother to put a reservation for me under his name. Their system sucks, it is slow and no one could give a prosper information.
Thanks to Fabiana Freitas who worked hard to save my trip. She definitely went over the top. Appreciated her effort but Localiza App and their rental car systems are terrible.
