My experience so far …
Dividends not paid on time I had a trade placed that was not carried customer service could really be improved when dealing with a problem.
Instead of a generic email.
No customer service at all
Impossible to get hold of been emailing them for days and days and they will not reply very frustrating and unprofessional
Generally excellent
Generally excellent. But it proved a rather difficult to establish a person to person channel of communication so we decided to go elsewhere.
Woeful customer service
Woeful customer service. Going to transfer Stocks ISA to Trading 212. No one replies ever... No phone number to contact anyone, which for a finance company, is ridiculous. So easy to hide behind emails and ignore them.
Really easy to use app
Really easy to use app, love the interface very easy to learn, such low fees for the S&P great app. Used it for 3 years now very grateful.
Great customer service.
easy to use!
Terrible customer service
Terrible, non-existent customer support, emailed over a week ago with no response still regarding my SIPP account. Seems to be the case on their form with other users too. Trades also take about 2-3 days to go through, and on top of that, you can't even get in contact with them to transfer your portfolio out of their platform. Avoid at all costs
What's the future of IE?
Good:
The platform and app are easy to navigate and use.
I do like the autoinvest feature, when set up I don't even have to check my portfolio which is best for long term investor, I just transfer cash in and that's it.
For what I use it for, everything is completely free. Many people still don't realise even seemingly small fees can compound into tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds lost over a lifetime. Minimizing costs is crucial, so being free is a big plus.
Bad:
The customer support is bad, very bad. It doesn't matter how urgent your issue is or how long it has been dragging on you are left in the dark with zero updates or meaningful help. You just have to pray that you never encounter a problem that requires human intervention. There's a perpetual "We are experiencing a higher than normal volume" but when that goes on forever surely that becomes the normal volume and you need to hire more customer service agents?
Improvements and innovation seems to be even slower than the support.
Their financials as a company are in the toilet. Not uncommon for an early fintech company but don't see how this is going to be turned around on current trajectory.
The speed of trades and cash settlement is too long. Waiting 2 days for cash deposit to settle, then trade executed on the 3rd day, then 2 more days for the trade to settle is just too long. I'm not a day trader so I can deal with that but the volatility in todays market means this could potentially put you out of pocket.
They use TrueLayer as a third party payment processor, this has been given as the cause for some peoples delays in cash transfers.
Overall:
Concerns over the future of the company, and the impression that there are a total of about 4 part-time people who work at IE, make someone who is looking for a long term home for long term investments start to think twice.
Many other platforms are offering free or very low cost trading and I feel IE is starting to fall behind.
Check the IE forums for many users concerns, most of which are unaddressed or with a generic response that doesn't reassure anyone.

9 or 10 emails since early morning and zero reply. Easier to contact the dead. I was going to transfer my isa and invest pension lump sum. Communication is key. Today was my only free day. Nightmare. If you never need to contact them it’s a good investment site. If you do need to communicate don’t bother
Isa transfer out from cash is so…
Isa transfer out from cash is so sluggish.
Money was sat in cleared cash on date of request. The timeframe is UP TO 4 weeks depending on complexity in ISA rules. This should not mean you will take 4 weeks to action the transfer.
Second chasing message today after my first went unanswered.
Poor when compared to other companies. Indeed, I did another transfer from a direct competitor on the same date and that completed inside a week.
Get a grip and stop holding onto my money for no other reason than you are earning interest on it in the interim.
Cheap, slow and a really poor customer service.
For some reason, transactions take forever to settle, let it be buy, sell, deposit, withadrawal. Horrible.
I requested an ISA transfer back in April and still waiting for it to be completed. Extremely lack of communication.
Raised a query regarding a bonus and, although the bonus got paid (thanks), again, no communicatiom whatsoever and I find out when I logged in.
Is that difficult to communicate effectively?
The 3 stars is because they are cheap but that's about it. Customer service is way more important than cost.

I have been having issues logging into my account, i emailed the customer service, dead silence. I need someone to reach back to me ASAP before i take this issue to the Financial Ombudsman.

Super easy to use, never had any issues and always happy with the service provided
Great app & service
The app is really easy to use, and the service I’ve received up until now has been really good. Tanya supported with the transfer of a Cash ISA for me whereby my old provider was putting unnecessary barriers up, and she resolved this for me.
