Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 135 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently struggle with deeply unhelpful customer service representatives and extremely long telephone waiting times when attempting to successfully resolve urgent financial problems. Many people also experience several major daily frustrations regarding unexpected account freezes, complex payment processing errors, and ongoing difficulties safely accessing their money. Some reviewers were happy with helpful branch staff who genuinely tried to assist them and certain promotional cash bonuses received on their accounts. A few customers specifically noted that friendly local branch employees attempted to provide good support despite dealing with broader organizational challenges.

Garbage, scam of a bank!

Garbage, scammy bank. They blocked my daughter from using Zelle or making any transfers right as her first rent payment was due. She went back and forth with them for 4 days as representatives pretended they didn't see anything wrong on their end. Finally, one informed her she had to bring proof of account ownership to a branch when she/we live several cities away from one (she was in tears on this call, by now, afraid to lose her apartment). Not only did they block her transfers, but they TWICE neglected to update her mailing address so she could receive and use her debit card, AND they revoked her access to view her debit card numbers online! What a terrible ordeal this has been. Unacceptable, underhanded practices. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Incompetence at its finest

I understand that I made the initial mistake by accidentally mobile depositing my husband’s check into my individual Huntington account instead of our joint account. However, the way this matter has been handled by Huntington has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable. The deposit was flagged for fraud because my husband’s name is not on the account, yet I received no communication from Huntington explaining that there was an issue beyond the letter advising me of a five-day hold. At no point was I informed that additional action would be required on my part. After the five-day hold expired, I contacted customer service and was told that I needed to visit a branch to sign a release form. I confirmed three separate times during that call that I was the person who needed to sign the form, and each time I was told that I was. I then took time off work and went to the branch, only to be told that my husband actually needed to sign because the check was made payable to him, resulting in another day of lost wages. My husband and I then went to the branch on 06/02/2025 and completed the requested release form. The teller advised that she had scanned it to Columbus and indicated that these forms are usually reviewed quickly, with my funds expected to be available no later than midday today. However, when the funds were still not released this afternoon, I called the branch and spoke with the branch manager, who told me there was still a hold on the account. I explained that, according to the letter I received, the five-day hold had already expired and that I had been told the funds would be available today. He then directed me back to customer service. When I called customer service again, I was incorrectly told once more that I needed to sign the release form. I explained that the form had already been signed and sent over the previous day, but the representative could not locate it. Although I never told him which branch I had visited, after placing me on a lengthy hold to speak with his escalation team, he returned and said they had attempted to call the branch but were unable to verify the information. When I asked which branch had been called, since I regularly use three different branches in my area, he could not tell me and was unable to find out. I then requested a supervisor and was told the wait would be 10 to 15 minutes, which I accepted. After finally reaching a supervisor and explaining the entire situation again, I was told that she was not the correct supervisor for the department I needed and was transferred to deposits. After being on the phone for over an hour, I finally spoke with someone named Rose, who reviewed the matter and confirmed that the form had in fact been received and sent to the correct department. However, I was then informed for the first time that this department can take three to five business days to review the information. Throughout this entire experience, I have received inconsistent information from multiple employees, no one has seemed to understand the actual process or turnaround times, and there has been a complete lack of clear communication. This experience has caused unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and lost wages, and it has left me with very little confidence in Huntington’s ability to handle customer issues competently.

screwed by Huntington bank

We had a CD come due while we going to be out of the country. We went in person before trip and very poor Huntington bank employee told us she would move our CD into a savings until we returned. Savings was interest rate of 5%. Unfortunately for us employee didn’t do what was promised and CD was renewed at 0.5 %
Huntington bank would not give us the approximate $1000 interest we lost.
I fought for a year .
DO NOT BANK AT HUNTINGTON.
Employees are unaware of procedures and management does nothing. The actual manager in HAMILTON Ohio actually advised me to call the 800 complaint line.

If you want a bank that will mess up…

If you want a bank that will mess up paperwork, lock you out of your account for weeks when you need it the most... and still can't resolve problems a month later... then this is the bank for you.

These people messed up POA paperwork locking my mom out of her account while in the hospital. Plus leaving family stranded out-of-state.

In addition, she can't even use Zelle to pay bills because they have no idea what's going on. It's been a consistent issue for over a month! With multiple calls and hours on support and waiting.

Check Reviews First

Last week, while at work, I applied for an account with Huntington Bank, and on this past Saturday, I went to deposit $220 cash into the ATM at the branch located at 5049 W Park Blvd in Plano and the receipt printed out showing my available account of $0. I have been calling trying to figure out what’s going on and finally today was told that the ATM has issues that is not easily known. I was also told that direct deposit from employer would result in the first $500 would be available and the rest available after the next business day. After all these lies I am not sure as to what to believe but now have been told that my $220 possibly will be posted to my account on Tuesday. Very poor customer service and no accountability from this bank at all. I am not even sure my money will be returned. Thank God for receipts but will they honor their word and give me back my money.

Huntington is the worst bank

Huntington is the worst bank you can encounter. Executives who don't care and they direct low managers at the bank to give excuses and non sense. They have the worst people and the worst ATM's which are the slowest in the industry. If there is a mistake or if someone managed to steal any of your money it will take weeks to resolve.

Shady arithmetic calculating interest…

Shady arithmetic calculating interest on auto loan. Do not trust the bank employees to apply any additional money paid on principal to be applied correctly. Spent over an hour with the branch manager trying to get an explanation of the 18 month payment history and she was as confused as me. She called her "superior" and that person left us both more confused. If I was into throwing money away in interest payments, I would've given them 5 stars. Over 18 months of paying 300 to 1000 extra per month, it was only applied maybe 5 times. ( every payment I had made, I specified both on the check and payment voucher to apply additional money to principal) Now what, Huntington? Criminals

You have this Bank you’re screwed!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst bank to deal with you can’t even report anything wrong on your account to any Headquarters of this bank because there is no Headquarters to reach so something happens. You’re pretty much screwed.. … I just talked to a supervisor named Kalin from Michigan Huntington Bank. There’s a supervisor who literally told me there’s no one higher than him to report. Found out. on my daughter‘s account for years. Which is crazy because we literally didn’t know that my name was on her account. She’s absolutely furious and we have to take time off of our workday to go to this goddamn bank to get my name off her account again after we had done it before at the bank on White Oak PA these banks don’t care you can report an issue like ours in. It’s nothing to them. There’s no one to report about the mistake they made if your account gets hacked. Who do you go to? If you have an issue with a supervisor you’re not happy with the supervisor you can’t go to anybody higher than that supervisor you’re screwed. Do not bank here. This bank is horrible. you got so many other banks to go to,do not use this one. It’s a joke!!!!!!!

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. I deposited a check at a local branch I was told it would take 2 business days to clear. After 3 days it still hadn’t cleared so I called customer service. They told me the check would be cleared in another 2 days. That was another lie. At this point I still don’t have my funds and when I called customer service they transferred me to a supervisor that didn’t even pick up the phone. This entire company is garbage. As soon as my check clears I will be closing my account. I can see why they have less than 2 stars

Deceptive

Received an email for a promotional balance transfer. Because it was only a 3% fee, I signed up for it. In the fine print, it stated that the offer wasn't until a certain date. So not only did they take 3%, but they also assessed interest on top of it. Deceptive bank tactics to trick people into giving them extra money. I paid off the balance and will cancel the account. The way you have to do payments on their credit card is goofy too. They basically try to force you to have a checking account with them. If you don't, you can't use their app to make the payment. You either have to do it on a web browser (party like it's 2009!) or mail it in (party like it's 1999!). Calling customer service also does you no good. They give you a runaround and don't care at all. Overall just a sucky experience and NOT worth it. I see why this is a small bank and not a larger one like PNC or even Key Bank, which don't rely on shady tactics to gain your money

Promotion not applied. Won’t honor.

I opened a checking account with Huntington after being attracted by a $300 sign-up promotion back in October 2025. I met every requirement to qualify — but when the bonus never appeared, I contacted customer service only to be told their system doesn't retain promotional records, so there was no way to verify or honor my offer.

This is deeply frustrating. I didn't just open a checking account — I also signed up for a secured credit card and a line of credit, fully committing to Huntington as my bank because of this promotion. To be told after the fact that there's simply no way to look into it isn't just unhelpful, it's unacceptable.

If you're considering switching banks for a sign-up bonus, be warned: Huntington apparently has no system in place to track or honor those promotions if something goes wrong. And when it does, you're on your own.

Wish I can give Zero Star

Wish I can give Zero Star. A simple request of transfer IRA fund out of Huntington to another financial institution turns out to be a 3 month nightmare. Not only the customer service, the supervisor or even Senior supervisor gave you a different instruction every time you called, but calling to follow up status has become an impossible task because they removed the IRA dedicated CS line and you ended up being bounced back and forth between incompetent and rude CS (who would hang up on you after not being able to solve issue) and an IRA operation team who claimed they can’t speak to customers coz they are a back office.

After 2.5 months of filling forms twice, wasting up to 3-4 days of calling and being ignored by even the senior supervisors who NEVER called back, I had no choice but to escalate this to CFPB and that’s when Huntington started listening and gave me the attention that a customer deserved and finally issued the check so I could transfer fund - all within 10 business days. That goes to show that they won’t treat you with courtesy and respect until you showed them threats and demanded for it!! RUN from this bank to save yourself some time and dead brain cells.

Buried $10/mo fee for Perks account

Huntington creates a confusing structure for their Perks checking account where if you don't meet the right combo of conditions they deduct $10 monthly from the account. This is buried deep in the terms of a bonus offer that led me to open an account, and phrased in opaque terms, suggesting an intention to conceal it as best as possible without committing outright fraud. Why tf would I continue with a bank that is comfortable deceiving its clients? No wonder there are so many 1-stars here... wish I'd checked that out earlier. Screw these people.

This review starts out about as well as Huntington Bank has. I should have the option to click on stars into the negative direction!!!!!
I'm a new customer, literally 2 months in and called with a question regarding my new auto loan. Without going into specifics, I'll let you people find out for yourselves should you not take my advice in telling you to go elsewhere, but I will just say that the creature I just spoke to could not have been more rude or uncaring of my questions. I'm sure Monique wouldn't agree because that's obviously her nature from working from home all this time. I hope you see this post woman and reflect on how you talk to calm people that are calling with legitimate questions regarding their hard earned monies placed into the entablement that pays for your....?????, certainly not nitrous.

BRENDA TAYL*R has an office at the…

BRENDA TAYL*R has an office at the Huntington branch in the Elyria Ohio
Court St location.
I attempted to get assistance from this person to simply notarize documentation.
She was utterly confused and seriously uneducated in the notarization department.
I was there 30 to 45 minutes,
with my disabled relatives getting four separate documents notarized.
She left the office twice to get assistance from a bank teller then again left the office with the bank teller, calling over an additional male bank teller later, during this very uncomfortable visit.
I explained each document was separate from one another and I needed four separate notarize signature documents.
She acted as if I were trying to commit some type of fraudulent documentation immediately,
before I was even able to have a seat she stated she wouldn't be able to notarize anything for me ???
Very strange behavior, horrible visit, zero in customer service skills, uneducated and rude on every level.
She approached a bank teller to assist her in this process, bringing her from her duties as a teller into the office where my family and I were forced to wait even longer due to her incompetence, not once but twice.
Mrs. Tayl*r was unstable and uncertain to make simple decisions.
I then asked about Caregiver Banking.
She immediately replied, "I know nothing about Caregiver Banking."
I wasted my time, as well as my disabled mother & brother, visiting this location for prompt and courteous service.
Brenda Tayl*r basically mistrusted me, making me feel as if I were visiting the bank to notarize false documentation.
In conjunction with her inability to properly notarize four separate documents and notarize them, unwilling to assist myself or guide me to be added as a caregiver on my brother's account.
This was a lengthy, extremely uncomfortable experience.
This person is unfit to represent
Huntington Bank, considering she was extremely confused,
accompanied by the inability to explain or add myself as a Caregiver on my brothers account or even simply explaining or having any knowledge of Caregiver banking to me.
I understand the Caregiver banking, but it appears as if he is sharing his account with me online rather than my being a caregiver.
I was wondering if it was because he (my brother)
has a savings account rather than a checking account, and I Still Don't Know!
My mother and
I had no problem adding myself as
Caregiver on her checking account.
Nevertheless,
Brenda Tayl*r stated she knew nothing about it.
No knowledge whatsoever on Caregiver Banking.
Brenda Tayl*r should seriously consider retirement at this point.
Unacceptable behavior.

Huntington Bank is full of nothing but lies. They’re fraud. Department is no help after leaving us in the negative and thousands of dollars of debt that’s going to destroy our credit after they verified a cashiers check three times that turned out to be a fraud. They’re telling us there’s nothing they’re willing to do about it and that we are the ones that owe them money. I’ve never been so disgusted with a bank in my life. Bank tellers should not be aloud to verify checks in assure the customers that there is nothing to worry about unless they are 100% positive and taking the responsibility for it I will never bank with Huntington Bank ever again. I do not recommend them to anybody!!!!! The Marietta branch is who is responsible for this and the bank tell her Drake consequences should be done for him verifying the check three times when it was a fraud!!!

Huntington's online customer service is an absolute disgrace. 40 minutes to get from the AI bot to a human who stops responding after two messages. Went back in and got to a human who asked me my SSN and account number and still wanted to send me a paid text to verify my phone number. When I asked to speak to a manager he stopped responding. The chat feature not existing would be more helpful than the pile of crap they have now.
