Common Sense and plain talking

Associate was careful to talk thorough the advantages and limits of the plan and to offer alternatives on the payment options without pushing any agenda. Common sense and plain talking, much appreciated.

Moved from BUPA to HCMA

I have been contemplating moving from BUPA to HCMA for a while. Elaine was very patient with my questions and allowed me plenty of time to consider the pros and cons. We finally managed to include my adult children at a competitive rate with the compromise that there are now reasonable limits to the amount/value of treatment covered compared to BUPA. I hope that if I every need to make claim I will be provided with similar level of personal service.

Taking our the dental plan

I already had a medical plan with HCMA, but wanted to know more about the dental plan. I called for more information and it was explained to me in clear terms, as a result of which I signed up. The pack arrived in good time.

Perfect, patient and 'unpushy' Customer Service

I have been speaking to Elaine Webster since before Christmas about joining HMCA. I couldn't join straightaway due to various circumstances but at every juncture, Elaine has been patient, informative and today, at last I've signed up. Elaine made the whole process incredibly easy, totally without any pressure and was a delight to chat to. I'd recommend HMCA so if you're deliberating over who to take out Health Insurance with, please speak to Elaine who will go above and beyond to help your decision and answer all your questions. Thank you Elaine for being so brilliant. A real credit to HMCA.

The promise is a bit more than offer

The promise is a bit more than the actual service offered, as with many companies selling servcies or goods when one drills into the offer. So, for example, the health cover overseas, only applies if you are resident in the country when your health need arises. Also, reliance on the Proposing Insured to do a lot of chasing previous PMI records from many years previous.

Thank you for your feedback. I can confirm that the Medical Care and Medical Saver plans provide you with private medical benefits when overseas. You do not have to be resident in the country to claim these benefits. However, please be aware that the plan is not intended to replace travel insurance.

If you are transferring from a previous provider to HMCA we will always ask for proof of the start date of your previous cover to ensure the transfer terms are accurate and to give you the peace of mind of transferring to HMCA.

Delay in getting authorisation ( needed…

Delay in getting authorisation ( needed prompting) and a delay in getting payment which will require prompting having received no acknowledgment of email sent to them containing receipted bills

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. After a thorough review of our system records and your correspondence, we acknowledge there was a minor delay in our response to you. Despite this, we were able to send the approval within 5 working days. This was done with the understanding that the authorisation letter would not hold up your treatment.

While the authorisation was dispatched more slowly than our standard—with 87% of claims typically processed on the same day—please know we continuously review our claims processing time to ensure a prompt and efficient service.

Regarding payment of your claim, I have also looked into this and can see that we received the invoice on the 3rd April, authorised payment on the afternoon of the 4th April and made a payment direct to your bank account on the morning of the 5th April. Confirmation of this will have been sent to you on the 4th April by post.
