good price and easy to add/remove extras to tailor your policy. Downside, giving it 4 not 5 stars is the requirement to give access to your travel and location data for 30 days. I still would have bou... See more

Simple online procedure and I'm happy with the adjustment made to the policy. I think that Multi-car insurance works well in our circumstance, where we are just a couple, both drive each car interchangeably and neither has ever had an insurance claim on our car insurance in all the many years that we have been driving.
I am new to you this company let you know later on in my experience
Very professional and quick.
Will review our car policy to see if we can insure with Hastings
Excellent online car insurance.
Well known company.
Very good and straightforward online quotation and purchase of insurance.
Comparable with Moneysupermarket etc on price.
Gives a reassurance that any claim will also be dealt with efficiently.
They charged me £20 for their admin fee when I cancelled my insurance with 14 days cooling off period and before insurance start date.

You saved me a lot of money after my last insurance added almost £100. And you was cheaper. I’ve never had a accident in all 56 years driving (famous last words)
Terrible when wanting to cancel new policy. Changed mind next day as found better quote. Hastings charged £20 arrangement fee and £20 for fob on you drive which is non refundable. Policy had 25 days until it started.

My experience with Hastings Direct has been absolutely terrible.
On 18 June 2026, my car was legally parked outside a pizza shop while I went inside to collect my order. Another driver, who was insured by Hastings Direct, attempted to park behind my vehicle and crashed into it. My car was completely stationary. I have CCTV footage, photographs, and the driver's details proving the accident was not my fault.
When I contacted Hastings Direct, their representative simply told me, "We can't do anything. You need to speak to your own insurance company." There was no attempt to help or support me as an innocent third party. I felt completely dismissed.
Because of this, I have been forced to make a claim through my own insurer. My vehicle is now likely to be written off due to the damage caused by Hastings Direct's policyholder. I am now facing the possibility of losing my no-claims discount and paying higher insurance premiums in the future, despite doing absolutely nothing wrong.
The collision caused extensive damage to my vehicle, including a broken rear bumper, broken rear light, hanging exhaust, and multiple safety system failures, including ABS, ADAS, Lane Assist, Collision Mitigation, electronic braking, cruise control and engine warning lights.
Through no fault of my own, I have lost the use of my vehicle, spent countless hours dealing with insurers, and suffered unnecessary stress because Hastings Direct refused to deal with the claim.
Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone insured with Hastings Direct to carefully consider whether they are receiving the level of support they expect from their insurer. My experience has left me feeling that, when it mattered most, they simply wanted to pass responsibility elsewhere rather than help resolve the situation.

Great company to work with Competitive price. Will buy again
Competitive quote, through there app, and have had insurance from them before
I knew Insurance companies were true rip off merchants but this takes the biscuit.........
When I originally bought my new car the selling dealership lied telling me I would be both legal owner and registered keeper. I gave this information to Hastings.
I then had to advise them that a finance company were the legal owner but I was registered keeper it was explained to me that as result of finance company being involved there would be small additional premium. It was less that £5 so not an issue.
Today I telephone Hastings to advise I have paid off the finance and to correct the ownership position, given Insurance companies are quick to avoid payment if they can find any loophole.
I was shocked to learn that there was again an additional charge, and that did not include the "make a change fee". Needless to say this was considerably higher than the original increase.
I have no choice but to pay given it is legal requirement to have insurance but my how Insurance companies rip you off.
The agent with whom I spoke was very helpful but only had her screens to help her, so could offer no rationale on how they can increase the policy twice in this way.
Update 30 July
As expected a banal reply from HD my personal circumstances have not changed and the premium paid in feb took into account all of the items mentioned in the response. I was told the orignal increase was as direct result of finance being the legal owner i.e risk increased hence premium goes up. Ergo if finance no longer the legal owner, then the risk is reduced so premium should drop or no charge for making the change. I have raised formal complaint with HD asking for specific response as to how the risk profile has increased yet again thus resulting in premium increase when before i was told it was the finance company being the owner that had increased the risk. With me as both legal owner & registered keeper in view of HD risk is lower. It seems insurance companies tailor responses simply to suit themselves forgetting that all insurance contracts are under the basic tenant of uberrima fides (Utmost good faith) i.e. we each have responsibility to be open and honest and disclose all material facts. This I have done clearly HD have not. I await response form formal complaint with the specifics about how risk has increased.

Quick service and very quick arrival of the black box for monitoring my driving standards over the year.
Great deal on insurance cover.
Ease and efficiency. No pressured sales and allowed to make my own informed decision regarding the quote received 👍🏻
The online set up was fairly easy. I signed up to the app version.
I would have liked more detail about the breakdown cover. Numbers provided etc
Everything is fine so far - only time will tell, but up to now things have gone well.
