Avoid at all cost

Happily, take money for a voucher but you cannot redeem. I have tried for months to contact them and to no avail. Some restaurants shown on the website tell me they are not even in the scheme! Their website functions if you want to buy a voucher (DO NOT) but redeem no chance. What reputable company does not have full transparent contact details and other information relevant to a Ltd co on their website! So basically, they are £150 richer and my relative is £150 poorer.
The authorities need to investigate this, as if insolvent it is a crime to trade. However, according to other reviews on Money Expert they have changed their name, swapping it with another business.

More problems…?

As others have observed, I thought we’d turned a corner after the late-2024 experience, but I fear we’re headed back to that dark place. I had a £100 balance to redeem and was advised that GG would remit it direct as our restaurant of choice declined to engage with the GG process. In good faith, we booked and had our meal on 19th April, but have seen no sign of the £100, despite many (unanswered) emails before and since. Tread carefully, fellow diners…

Is this legit?

Is this legit?

We got given a £100 voucher, which says you have to give 24 hours notice to use it.

The website won't allow you to redeem it before Sunday (today is Wednesday, so should be plenty of time).

I had the same issues when trying to redeem it last week. Additionally, their phone number is only answered Monday to Thursday, so don't try booking on a Friday for the weekend!

Looking at other reviews, they seem to be gobbling up people's money and not giving recipients of the vouchers a chance to redeem them, so I'm in a similar boat to others. Avoid.

Now a smooth and efficient process

After having been caught up in the problems from the end of last year, and writing a 1* reviews, I contacted the company in early March to redeem and had a great meal last night.
The email communication has been quick and efficient since early March and I confirmed with the local restaurant that all was good before we arrived, and they were very happy.
Thank you for honouring the voucher and for what is now a slick process.

Like other people I had almost given up hope of using the voucher. However, they have sprung back into life and we redeemed it even though it had expired in December!

They are responding to emails on enquiries@.... and were very helpful

Company not gone bust after all

The company now seems to back in action after a 3 month hiatus with virtually no information and no defence from the company to these terrible reviews.
I redeemed my voucher this week, the restaurant had been contacted and it all worked out.
This email address is working but maybe automated:
Bookings "at" gourmetguide.co.uk

This is my second review

This is my second review. Before Christmas, I was very worried because I was unable to redeem my voucher. It was due to expire at the end of December. I had tried to phone and emailed with no luck. I put a 1* rating on here and continued the try to contact Gourmet Guide.

Eventually, into the new year, I got a slightly different email which said I would be contacted after 6th January.

I remained sceptical but it did happen. I was In formed of how I could redeem my voucher. Everything has now gone through and last night we enjoyed a lovely meal, totally covered by the voucher.

I am massively relieved and hope that others who are experiencing difficulties soon get a successful outcome too.

The final part of my experience has been 5*. The first part was below 1* - hence the overall score.

A complete scam

A complete scam. We were told by the restaurant that they no longer worked with GourmetGuide, despite them confirming the voucher redemption.

My parents are now struggling to get the vouchers refunded or charged back.

Excellent dining experience

We had an excellent experience using Gourmet Vouchers 23 January 2025. We reserved our meal with the restaurant and then emailed gourmet vouchers to arrange the transfer of funds.
The restaurant confirmed they had received the payment from Gourmet Vouchers before we dined.
We then had our meal.
Overall it was a fantastic experience. I hope this helps others in using their vouchers.

Needs better communications with customers

With a voucher for £100 I was concerned by the many one star reviews on this site regarding difficulties redeeming the vouchers which mirrored my own initial frustrating experience with their web site, email and telephone calls. However, a previous contributor had suggested alternative email addresses and using them I had a prompt response from bookings “@“ gourmetguide.co.uk redeeming the vouchers, confirming my restaurant booking and last night we had an enjoyable meal with £100 off the total cost! Despite their current appalling communication problems there is clearly some part of the organisation functioning and their priority should be to reorganise their web site and publish up to date email and phone details. Despite initial glitches, overall worked well for us.

GOT REDEEMED AFTER EMAILED

I spoke to new owner by using one of the emails mentioned elsewhere in this forum. I read some where in an article that they are "moving the old vouchers on to the new system" so just bear with them I think. I honestly do NOT think its a scam but it will take some time to process orders, especially given its the holiday period. I think the new owner came earlier last year.

Tbh, the previous system under the old model was a bit antiquated so its understandable its taking time to move all vouchers to new system and its caused some issues. Could it have been smoother? Sure. Better communication? Maybe, but when I emailed the new owner, he was very helpful and apologetic and redeemed the voucher for my mum and I. I think the bloke is trying his best with his team to process the orders but just taking some time. For those worried you lost your vouchers - don't be, just be patient.

Im giving them 5 stars because even though getting it redeemed involved a bit of back and forth, I appreciated the new owner being frank with me and trying to help me by calling the restaurant directly to get it sorted.

What a waste of a gift

What a waste of a gift, disgusting behaviour to not even contact voucher holders to advise that existing vouchers were null and void & to still allow new customers to purchase vouchers through the site! no reason to do this unless it is a blatant scam, which I now believe it is.

HELPFUL FOR ANYONE WITH OUTSTANDING VOUCHERS

I am writing this as I have just been able to claim the voucher. Reason for the 3 stars is the booking is the website and general updates have been awful - it's taken a fair bit of time & effort to get this redeemed.

If trying to redeem a voucher I would suggest contacting all three emails below simultaneously:

Trustpilot not allowing email addresses, I have had to adapt slightly, but remove spaces and inverted commas

jef "@" gourmetguide.co.uk
bookings "@" gourmetguide.co.uk
enquiries "@" gourmetguide.co.uk

From doing this I have been able to redeem a voucher purchased last Christmas.

Best of luck. Hopefully the website it updated soon and better communication with voucher holders brought about.

BEWARE SCAM!

BEWARE!! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!
As with many other recent reviews, I believe this company is nothing but a SCAM and a complete CON!
I purchased a voucher online, received the same message about their website being unavailable, and never received an email to confirm receipt and the order details. I have chased them twice but have not received any reply from them whatsoever! I have also tried contacting them via the telephone number which is available via Google but I was re-directed to the email address that never responds to any email that is sent to it! Also, they also appear to have changed their company name to Boxing Breaks Limited on 6 December. All very suspicious!!

I have a voucher which expires 31st December, 2024. I am unable to redeem it. The website claims that things are being updated and so bookings aren't being taken. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to phone. I sent an email and got a standard reply saying they will get in touch when my voucher can be used. However, as this voucher was an expensive gift OF £100, they have no record of me!!!
It appears that vouchers can still be bought on the website so I would discourage anyone from doing so!!!

Complete con.

Like many recent reviews.
Can’t use vouchers, can’t contact company.

Total disregard for users.

Website upgrade message never changes. A complete con.
Don’t trust company, don’t trust owners.
