Good service by the team. Things took a little longer than expected but we got there in the end.

I will start with a statement. It is never simple buying and selling a house.
Now that's been said, it was not made easier by this firms poor communication or lack of advice. Whether it was months without updates, not bothering to update the app (which still says we are at 50% 4 months after the transaction) or just not bothering to reply.
Technically we are still waiting for the final output from our sale transaction. So I still have to wait for our last bit of info which is quite frankly abysmal.
If you asked for advice, you didnt get it. If you asked or provided specific information to support a matter you had, you wouldn't get a reply. I recall us having three bullets to add to the enquires and they didnt even bother to send them over to the other solicitors and just told us to speak with their estate agent. The enquiry was a legal point that I needed a formal response to, they didnt care and I only found out because the pack that was returned didnt contain anything I asked for. We couldn't go back to it as our buyers were running out of patience due to how long everything was taking.
Zero humanity or empathy for the stresses for these transactions, just incredibly blunt replies, if you got one at all.
Id recommend this firm to anyone I disliked.

I have been dealing with the Woking branch for the last 2 years relating to my Mother's probate and estate. We have also used them for our house Sale and Purchase. There were definitely moments when things got quite frustrating but everyone I dealt with, including Dan, Ella and Hirakshi..plus Bronwyn were very professional and very patient. It has been a pleasure to deal with this firm of Solicitors and I would not hesitate to recommend them for conveyance and probate work

Chosen them out of two recommendations by the estate agent
Gareth was my case handler. the communication was dreadful and quite frankly rude.
Never address my enquiries directly and sometimes outright ignored them. They still get my first name wrong in the email, despite making it clear early in the process.
They cant careless to explain the significance of each decision and what to look out for, making each step of extremely stressful, especially for a first time buyer like myself
The portal I was charged £40 for to monitor and track progress? Nothing was ever updated and I had to chase constantly for email responses.
I can smell something is off and raised my concerns very early (about 2 weeks) into the process, but nothing had changed, no improvement whatsoever.
Please, take this review seriously and go elsewhere, for the sake of your sanity.

We went to Dutton Gregory on the recommendation of a friend having had a truly awful experience with the previous solicitor. It was such a joy to work with Amber who knew exactly what was needed, was fully transparent with price and timings and kept us fully informed. True value for money. Would wholeheartedly recommend this team.

FTB here.
The buying journey was good overall, although my solicitor didn’t explain much and mainly just sent me the relevant documents to sign. That said, this was fine. So I had to do my homework and try to understand every piece, bit by bit, in all those legal documents.
However, the real nightmare was around my stamp duty. After moving in for over a month, I realised I still hadn’t received my stamp duty certificate.
I started chasing the solicitor in September 2025, and eventually received a letter from HMRC confirming that my stamp duty had not been paid. But I really had no idea why because I had paid all required monies to my solicitor prior to completion, and the payment should have been made on my behalf.
The solicitor’s assistant later admitted that they had missed the stamp duty payment and advised they would resolve the issue. However, I then received a further chasing letter from HMRC stating that the stamp duty was still outstanding.
I attempted to contact the solicitor again, and their assistant responded to say that the payment should have been made. I continued to wait for confirmation and the SDLT certificate, but nothing was received.
After following up again in December 2025, I finally received confirmation from the solicitor’s assistant in January 2026 that the SDLT certificate had been successfully obtained.
To be honest, I don’t know whether this is a reasonable process, but you can judge for yourself whether you would want to instruct them as your solicitor when buying a property.

During a difficult time for our family,Carley and the team helped to progress our situation swiftly and professionally. I personally will be contacting them again in the future should I need them.

I used Dutton Gregory for my sale/purchase of my property, they were in constant communication throughout and have an online portal which tracks the stages throughout. I had a difficult experience with my completion falling through at no fault of Alisha, however she was so professional throughout and we managed to complete recently after only 5 weeks of conveyancing which is an absolute credit to how quickly Alisha worked to ensure a speedy completion.

If you are going to use the Chandlers Ford branch for Conveyancing, then check, check and triple check all your paperwork they send you!
I used DG to purchase my flat, however after 3 month of living there I received an invoice from the management company for a substantial amount of money, after going back through my paperwork that my solicitor had sent, I found this potential cost in amongst an "information only" pack.
After speaking with several other legal professionals, I was informed that this should have been bought to my attention well before asking me to sign contracts.
I have now suffered severe financial loss through my conveyancers sheer laziness and sub standard Conveyancing.
Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend using their Chandlers Ford branch for conveyancing.

My contact was Lily Benson who did an excellent job on the sale of my flat. She was pleasant and very helpful, particularly in assisting with electronic signing of documents as I was remote from Bournemouth.

I highly recommend Amanda Watts. I have found her approach to conveyancing to be unflappable, level-headed, and incredibly knowledgeable. I recommend her without reservation.

I couldn’t recommend Hirakshi and the rest of the residential property team in the Woking office. Hirakshi ensured everything was completed quickly and efficiently. She went above and beyond in helping us purchase our first home.

I use Dutton Gregory in my profession as a Financial Adviser and have always received great advice for my clients from the Private Client team.
I have also just used them for my own conveyancing need and Alisha & Annie have been timely and professional and I would highly recommend their services.

We had been selected Alishia Binfield from Dutton Gregory.
We were very sceptical of selecting a solicitor when selling and buying a new house however we recieved nothing but the best service through out our process, our process ended up being very rocky but Alishia gave us nothing but reassurance and dealt with the problems head on and with no time to waste, Alishia always took my calls and if not called back as soon as she had a gap, always replied to emails, I have nothing bad to say about Alishia, this fantastic lady did everything for us if not more, if you are looking to buy and sell and end up with Alishia as your selected solicitor just know you are in good hands as this can be a very stressful process, big thank you to Alishia Binfield and Ryan.
