Windscreen got smashed on car in an accident which was proven not to be our fault. They want us to wait two weeks to have it repaired, did not seem bothered at all. Wish I had read reviews first, never insure with them again

Worst damm insurance company ever dam disgraceful service
No support
I would advice people to view all the bad reviews before using Co-insurance company . I would never use them again after my experience very poor service making complaints will not help you . I would advice to prevent a stressful situation do not use no matter how good qoute the looks. Stay AWAY!!!!.

They advertise cashback on Quidco but then refuse to pay - always thought of the coop as an ethical company - obviously that is a thing of the past! Avoid!
My car was vandalised
My car was vandalised. They could not quote me for new car? but on go compare they could (strange). Then tried charging me £90 for remainder of my policy on a car they had written off? including the cancellation fee? and would not admit they were the ones cancelling my policy as they would not insure my new car!
Disgraceful thieves managed to get this reduced to £50 and their excuse was they had to recoup their losses!!! Will avoid like the plague all their companies in future, shops, insurance and funeral AVOID AVOID AVOIS
Rude and uncaring
Our car was stolen, & smashed into someone's garden wall. Very upsetting & traumatic for us. A couple of days later, we received a letter from Co-operative insurance, saying that the owner of the wall was insured with them, & that 'a car owned or driven by' us had damaged the wall, & they were claiming against us. I rang them - got a very rude woman - no empathy or sympathy at all.
The car, which was badly damaged, had been taken to a compound, which was charging us by the day, so we had to get a transporter to retrieve it. Our own insurers were very kind & sympathetic, but that one encounter with the Co-op insurers ensured that I would NEVER give them my custom!

Avoid like the plague they take your money also they do not follow up your NCD. they say that the proof you sent them for your previous insurer is not valid. You try to make a claim because a car reversed into you and drove off they will not persue the claim unless you pay your access never been with a company that is totally against helping customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS SOONER DO NOT GO WOTH CO OP
I have been insured with co op for 2 years! My renewal came through this year and I signed the contract and was told to the payment would come out on the 28th October 2019...it didn’t come out. I got an email TODAY (13th November) saying that if I didn’t make payment my agreement would be cancelled. I called them and they said it had been cancelled and that they had sent out a letter. I NEVER received one letter to say that the payment had bounced back I was never made aware and they just cancelled my insurance without letting me know first or getting in contact with me.
I was passed back and forth on the phone from premium finance to co op both saying they didn’t know what had happened?!!!
I haven’t received one email or letter apart from the ONE today and then to be told my insurance had been cancelled!!
STAY AWAY!! Horrible people, no sympathy and not one bit helpful.
THIEVES
THIEVES
They took £135 from my account, because 4 years previous my car was broken into, at the time I was insured with direct line, I never made a claim, it was information only, co op told me if I can get direct line to remove this from the que database they would look into it again, direct line were fabulous they done what they said, even after all of this coop still would not reimburse me.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE LIARS AND THIEVES.
Terrible Company. Still Operating In 19th Century When It Suits Them
Called to cancel car insurance mid term, been told that there is a £120 cancellation fee!
Then told it will take 10 days for the admin team to calculate how much rebate I am due (are they using an abacus???) they will then send me a letter in the mail to tell me how much the rebate will be (even although ALL correspondence for collecting payment is instant via email) and then to top it off it will take up to 4 weeks for the rebate to be provided which will be by cheque (even although all payments are expected instantly via debit/credit card). Never again
One star in not even good enough for…
One star in not even good enough for this insurer - we went to the Co-op for the first time in September 2019 as they came up in a search for comprehensive car insurance cover for our eldest son had passed his driving test. I was asked to upload my proof of No Claims which I did ( 16 plus years ) - 4 days later a letter arrived letting me know my NCB had not been approved and I was being charged an extra £800 ( on top of the £1,400) which would come out of my DD. When I called them to see what the problem was, I was told I hadn't uploaded it within the required 7 days - but, the request they had sent me asked me to upload it within 14 days. When I explained this and said I could send/screenshot the letter to prove this, I was told 'but we have internal directives on this and you had 7 days'. I escalated the complaint - and finally cancelled the policy after they continued to show a complete lack of internal communication - btw they outsource their complaint centre so they read off their cards and write emails as if they are automatons. We are now happily insured with Insure the Box but after canceling the policy on October 7th I am still waiting for my deposit to be returned - can't believe this has gone on like this.
Co-op motor insurance - dragging it out!
SO, In January 2019, a dog ran out of a garden and I couldn't stop and hit it (at low speed, and the dog was OK).. but it did trigger the BMW pedestrian safety system, which is similar to air bags... but under the bonnet.
So, the owner of the dog immediately accepted responsibility.
I obviously called to make a claim on my Co-op insurance.
ALL WITHIN 2 days:
*The dog owner confirmed she had liability insurance.. (turns out she had 2 policies). To her insurance company and to mine.
*it was confirmed that the dog owner received a phone call from one of her insurance companies, and she accepted liability within a couple of days. (we actually live near each other, so have kept in touch regarding the claim)
*I paid my £200 excess to start repairs on my car in January.. the car was returned all satisfactory.
We are now in going into November, and after several time waisted conversations with the co-op motor insurance ... (who don't seem to have a clue what century we're in) have been absolutely useless.
.... (until my last call 6 weeks ago)
*6 Weeks ago, my conversation with the Co-op was more or less a team member admitting the claim was not being looked at by anyone
I asked him to call the dog owner while I waited on the line (who's details they had on file) .. which he did and I did wait on the other line.. the dog owner again confirmed she had already admitted it was totally her fault "she had done this on more than one occasion" and thought it was all OK... or had been settled.
So, the customer service guy told me it would be sorted soon. (6 weeks ago)
Now the point of this is.. . £200 excess... which belongs to me... Which should have been returned to me a week after the accident.. because the the dog owner admitted liability.
*It's only £200 but its mine.
*Co-op motor insurance customer service are only worth 1 star.
I wonder how many £200 they are holding for months in end?... I wonder if this is actually legal?
I wonder if I will get £200 plus interest?
Ironically, I renewed with them by mistake... but as with most insurers, everything is fine until you are claiming.
Claimed my car was in a multi vehicle…
Claimed my car was in a multi vehicle accident in 2017 when it was in a locked car park in Brize Norton Airfield [more secure than Fort Knox] Taking ages to get to bottom of this but it appears wrong reg, wrong date, wrong classification of accident all errors by Coop staff.. Still waiting [almost a month] for a letter of clearance. All this hassle for an incident NOTHING to do with my vehicle. AVOID
Terrible insurance, terrible company to deal with, terrible experience overall.
First of all, their own equipment and measuring parameters for deciding how good a driver you are, don't work. I have received nothing but 0's or 100's (out of 100) and nothing in between, despite driving pretty much the same every trip. A system that can only give 2 results out of 100, is not a good system at all. Additionally, it's been giving me trip/driving scores on days I haven't even driven the car, and no one else has either, which is utterly ridiculous. Most of them, funnily enough, have been positive scores, but there have been bad ones and I should not have to be penalised for literally not even driving my car (and again, no one else has either), it is totally, utterly ridiculous. They have no email to contact them with, only phone numbers that are jam packed and difficult to get to the point of actually talking to someone. Their customer service is useless, and disputing anything will get you no where. They are too arrogant in the belief their equipment works perfectly, despite many telling them otherwise, meaning if you're penalised, that's it. Cancelling the policy will also incur around about a £200 fee, a cancellation and removal of the black box fee. DO NOT waste your money with this company and their useless insurance. It may be slightly cheaper than the next best offer, BUT, I can almost guarantee, faulty recording of your driving will lead to you being penalised, and therefore being charged more overall mid policy anyways.
Avoid like the plague
A rude, deceitful, under-performing and lazy staff is symbolic of this under-hand company. The name co-operative is about as far from being appropriate as you could find. The service for a car policy has been beyond bad and combined with a rude staff has made the experience of having a car stolen infinitely worse. Avoid like the plague and tell anyone you know to never use them.
Don't insure with them
DEATH TRAP wall leading to front door…
DEATH TRAP wall leading to front door is on verge of collapse after being hit by car. COOP surveyor mentioned how deadly it is. 3 weeks later nothing has changed. CCOP are not a honourable insurer so stay away.
NOT VERY CO OPERATIVE
Absolutely terrible service from these guys, on 22nd our patio door had a stone hit it and completely smashed the glass.
After calling them to report it they said they would pass it to the relative company that deals with that on their behalf. it turned out that they used VPS.
Anyway three weeks later the door is still smashed and nothing from the co op.
So I called a local company they came next day and fitting in the next week.
I am paying privately now for the work as the co op are total waste of time, so don't insure via them if they can't be bothered find another company who can
Poor experience for loyal customer
I am a 20 year + customer. Wanted to renew insurance on one car and then add a new car. Co-op don't offer multicar and would not provide any NCD based on my 9+ years protected no claims with them.
I was told that I could get 5% discount if I renewed online. Got a quote from a competitor for much cheaper than Co-op with better TrustPilot ratings and also cover included as standard that would have cost EVEN more with Co-op. Should have changed earlier.
ONE STAR is generous!!
ONE STAR is generous!!
Reported that someone had hit my car while it was parked and I was at work 5 weeks ago. Since then I have had no correspondence from them unless I have phoned them myself. Co-op Informed me that they simply cannot phone me daily to update me when in fact I have not been phoned once. Two weeks after the incident I was offered a courtesy car through a third party company that Co-op passed me to known as Auxilis in which I was required to sign a credit agreement to receive the car. Naturally I found this strange therefore I declined and said I would wait until liability was accepted from the third party to submit my care to the garage for repairs and accept a company car from my own insurance company. Three weeks on still no response so I have contacted Co-Op to be informed that since I did not take the car with Auxilis co-op have cancelled my claim as they did not think I wanted to continue. After a heated conversation my claim is reinstated but at a Stand still as they apparently cannot contact the third party insurance as they are getting no response and cannot continue to chase an unresponsive claim. Would NEVER recommend and WILL NOT come back to them.
