DO NOT GO WITH COOP YOUNG DRIVERS INSURANCE

DO NOT GO WITH YOUNG DRIVERS INSURANCE FROM CO-OP!!

since day 1 they have messed me around, it appears cheap at first but black box data is ALWAYS wrong, going 1 mile an hour over the limit gets you email & text threats that they’re going to cancel your policy, if you want to change a vehicle the fees are outrageous (they don’t ever send a confirmation email of any changes you have to FORCE them to send you one) not to mention they MAKE YOU PAY £50 FOR A BIT OF PLASTIC WHICH THEY CALL ‘cradle’ TO FIT THE BLACKBOX INTO YOUR NEW CAR WHICH THEY CLAIM WONT WORK WITHOUT A NEW ONE BUT MINE ALWAYS DID!!! they are money grabbing and completely USELESS. They have moved my monthly direct debit dates with no notice and then had the cheek to charge fees on top when you miss a payment because they didn’t notify you of the changes. This year was my 4th renewal with them and they tried to put my insurance up by £600, I called to cancel only to never receive a confirmation email AGAIN and I’ve just called back this morning even though I called nearly 3 weeks ago just for them to tell me ‘it’s still requested’ and to just TRUST THEM??? that it will be cancelled before the next payment date! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO TRUST THIS PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR AN INSURANCE COMPANY? I have set myself a reminder to cancel the direct debit a few days before if I have still not received anything as I could not trust this company as far as I could throw them. Save yourself the hassle and money and choose someone else. No wonder co-op is going down the drain lol

Back box false data

Back box false data. My son cancelled his insurance as each quarter they kept charged extra premium with no explanation. When questioned Customer Service said the black box showed he went round corners too slowly !!!! Do NOT use, better black box providers out there that show where you have driven and exactly why they are not happy with an aspect of your driving. Very useful.

Just had the renewal through for the car. It's disgusting that the coop is charging £77 for credit on a 10-month arrangement @ 30% APR. I see that the company doesn't respond to any reviews on here. Think it's time to go elsewhere.

Shameful price increase.

My house and contents insurance renewal quote has increased by 30%. For no apparent reason; when I called today I was given some excuse involving the FCA. They won't budge. Well I will - I can get exactly the same cover for my previous price with 12 other companies using one of the Compare sites. Shame on you Co-op.

A completely different company

A completely different company
I have bought a Coop buildings insurance policy for the last fifteen years as part of a shared service charge. The schedule was detailed, reasonably priced and with the names of three co-freeholders, there was clear evidence of shared responsibility. The current company now refuse to do this and seem to struggle with the idea of a building with co-freeholders.
Moreover their communications are now slack and inefficient. Despite advising them twice, emails and texts have been addressed to the wrong person.
Finally, the premium quoted over the phone was £40 more than the letter of notice, justified by 'rising crime in the area', hardly relevant to buildings insurance. The sum was revised after consulting a supervisor.
Overall very poor customer service and I shall be changing my provider. I also note that the majority of recent reviews are describing a similar experience.

Home Rescue option - Totally useless

UPDATE - 28th October 2021
Policy MN 14912605
=====================
Electrician came yesterday afternoon.
Diagnosed failure of the 32Amp circuit between mains consumer unit and kitchen.
Electrician very busy, can't be fixed for a fortnight.
In the meantime, no cooking from grill / oven / hob.
Phoned COOP Home Rescue again this morning.
Obviously, the guy is paid to fob off people.
This time he said that "Failure of the gas or electricity supply within the Home" means "Total failure to the house".
Total failure, I would think is a case for the electricity provider.
He ended the call by saying we should contact our building insurance (also with the COOP). We did, and the building insurance person was not impressed by the fobbing off.
======================================
Policy MN 14912605

Our mains electric consumer unit box failed yesterday evening.
Not a simple case of trip switch turned off.
As a result, nothing works in the kitchen, we can't cook.
Checked with booklet, Home Rescue Section, item 3 page 28:
What is covered:
"Failure of the gas or electricity supply within the Home"
Our kitchen is obviously within the Home.
My wife phoned COOP aka CIS insurance this morning.
The guy typed all details, was told it was NOT breakdown of kitchen appliances, looked on his computer, and declared "No, it's not covered"
My wife and I are both in our 70s, we took this insurance option for peace of mind, which COOP insurance have failed to provide.

The renewal comes up in a month's time.
Guess what

Refused House Insurance

My dad had the house insurance with the co-op for 50 years as in all that time he never made a single claim, unfortunately he passed away at the end of 2020. The insurance for next year is now due and they refused to renew it because I run a small online business from the house and they deemed it was too risky. What risk!! We live in a very safe area with very little crime, in fact I haven’t heard about any burglaries, vandalism, anti social behaviour in over 12 months. So no risk at all really. After 50 years!!! Absolutely ridiculous. Wouldn’t recommend them to anybody, go elsewhere for your insurance.
EDITED: They actually had the nerve to send me a letter which read: So sorry that you decided not to renew your buildings insurance with us!!! Really

Expensive renewal and not easy to cancel

Renewal for house insurance 48% increase. When tried to cancel advised to do so by email but not easy. So phoned again and after 20 minutes, spoke to an advisor and requested not to renew at forth coming renewal date.

Wanted to renew my home insurance but…

Wanted to renew my home insurance but no one is answering the telephone already been on hold for 18 minutes. Stopped call and rang customer care line. Silly me they didn't answer either! What a total shower. The person who runs the call answering for the renewals (which anyone knows is the least cost to get a client), needs a kick up the backside to do his or her job more effectively. Get more staff or whatever but don't expect to keep clients with this abysmal level of service!

Stay away!

The worst insurance ever. Please stay away. The black box data is completely false, which ensures they do not give you any discount. Stay well away from this insurance company.

Rip Off Insurer

Just called them and changed the registration number on my insured vehicle, first guy I spoke to hung up mid call, very rude! Called back, eventually arranged the change, but to my amazement and disgust charged £25. Totally outrageous, Direct Line and others charge nothing. I shall be changing Insurer at renewal, avoid this company at all cost.

Diabolical, charged my account for 5 months after I cancelled!!

Awful insurance company, I called to cancel my insurance in March and they continued to take money from my account for 5 months, robbing customers probably due to issues experienced with coronavirus, broke down twice during my time with them and breakdown cover ect terrible, AVOID this company they are thieves.

Absolute shambles of a company.

Absolute shambles of a company.

Couldn't differentiate between your butt and an elbow.

Ridiculous wait times, to speak to barely trained cretins.

Phoned today (18 minutes on hold) to decline a renewal for car insurance. They have quoted me 85% higher than available elsewhere. I promptly get confirmation of my renewal and that they will be collecting the annual premium next week.

I CANCELLED FFS!!

So I then had to spend another 20 minutes getting through to another clown to tell them again. I am cancelling, I am declining your thieving offer of insurance, that only someone in serious need of a mental health professional would consider renewing with this shower at that price.

After being a customer for 3 years they refused to renew my policy are being 1 day let. They claimed that they let me know of this but all I got was a text message and a letter on my dashboard telling me to call and pay. That doesn’t really imply that I won’t be having my car insured anymore. Tried to make a complaint but the staff were quite patronising. Apparently they aren’t accepting new sales, yet their website says otherwise. Very disappointed and won’t be using again.
