What a joke!

Like everyone else here, we have been waiting for a refund for more than a year. Makes you think what they are doing with your money when the airline has confirmed a refund has been issued. I am not sure but seems like during this time they updated themselves with a flashy new website and apps. Blocked out certain reviews on google. Maybe as a suggestion, pour some more focus and resouces on get your customer their entitled refund! Rather than the same old generic copy and paste responses from your "human" staff maybe try and put some more effort on getting your customer their hard earned money. Only till then maybe your new website might of good use and people might decide to try your services again. In the end all this cat and mouse game, hiding here and there will never get you anywhere!

It’s a CRIME!

My flight was cancelled in May 2020 due to Covid and they ‘offered’ me a refund and gave me a quote. It’s been 14 months but I haven’t got any refund! Originally, they said that it’ll take 8 weeks, then another 12 weeks, then longer and longer. I kept emailing them but their answer is always the same template ‘due to high volume of refund request, we regret to inform that we cannot provide an exact date on when you will receive the refund’. It is unacceptable and refund doesn’t take more than a year. They never answered the phone and the call goes straight to the answering machine. What’s the point having phone number if they never answer!?!

They have been stealing our money and they don’t think it’s wrong. It is a CRIME. They have a no right to keep our money.

I’m sure that they are expecting all of us to just wind up crying ourselves to sleep in silence. So they can keep our money and get paid. CMF, shame on you!!

I am sick of this kind of people who eats someone’s money and try to get away from the punishment. I just don’t want any more people to have the same experience as me in future. I don’t understand how they can still operate their business and selling flight tickets for future victims. It’s absolutely wrong!! I started taking an action, so they can start an investigation against this company.

Would give 0 stars if I could

Would give 0 stars if I could - it is obvious from the reviews that a lot of people are in the same boat as me. I have lost over $2000 (then they had the cheek to take $400 extra off me for processing the refund which I have been waiting for since June 2020) what a joke. Lesson learned and I will NEVER book with a third party airline again. Just lie after lie and I'm not sure any of us will ever see our $$ again. Criminal

horrible company

horrible company. Just AVOID !!! Been asking for my refund since October 2020, it is end of June 2021 now. Airline confirmedreturn of money to CMF , but they refuse to refund. It was not just a $200 ticket and customer care constantly replies emails with "once we know more about refund status, will let you know". Phone numbers are NOT REACHABLE and just have answering machines on. just HORRIBLE, AVOID!!!

Payment is being held by CMF

Waiting since January 2020 when refund was first initiated, to now being June 2021, to be told firstly that they're waiting on the refund from the airline to reimburse me, and also very poor excuses about lack of staff to process refunds. If staff were put on to process the refunds you wouldn't need so many in your customer enquiry centre. After enquiring with the airline, Xiamen, who were very professional, I was disgusted to find that they never even received my booking from CMF, so it's obvious that CMF are holding my payment. Just appalling

Scam Scam Scam Checkmyfares.com.au

I'm in the same position as the previous few complaints, booked prior to April 2020 and trying to get credits for flights and getting no where, I'm absolutely pissed with this company and going through ACCC, could you please advise how you got your refund through the bank? That would be greatly appreciated. They respond 7 days after emailing when flight prices change considerably, absolute nonsense.

We had flights booked back for early…

We had flights booked back for early 2020 that were cancelled. After a year of emails back and forth and getting nowhere after numerous excuses and promise of a refund I read the reviews on this site. One review suggested going through my bank. I lodged a credit dispute with my bank along with the entire email trail. 2 months later I received the entire amount owing back in my account. I didn't hold much hope in receiving the money after such terrible reviews but if you keep all emails and provide them to your bank to show you have tried to get a refund you just may get one as I have.

Review Response is also totally inadequate

Even your response to my Review is extremely poor. There should be no reason for skeleton staff, where the majority of your staff will be so busy responding to complaints/ requests. If refunds were processed in a timely manner, email response team could be refunding. It's ridiculous to say that you would like to process refunds within 12 weeks, when it's been 68 weeks already. Added to this that the airline hasn't any record of me from the copy of the itinerary you had sent me when I booked my fare. It's obvious to me that you never passed on my ticket request to the airline and have been holding the money all this time. Time now for the ACCC.

SCAM - NEVER USE THIS ONLINE TRAVEL AGENT

I booked a ticket in Feb 2020 for over $2000. Originally they offered me a credit note however, they then contacted me to advise that I could request a refund. I have been going back and forth with this company for 12 months and each time I contact them they give a generic response which is clearly a stalling tactic, one day its in its final stages, the next day they are still waiting for it.

Its funny that during this time they have been able to do a full rebrand on their website which means I can no longer even see the status of my flight!! The directors as per their publicly available ASIC Extract need to be held accountable for this. As some who has worked within finance for 10 years - it does not take 12 months reconcile a refund.

From the comments below everyone is in the same position. SHAME on this company for stealing people's hard earnt money. They should focus their efforts on refunding customers rather than taking on more business.

And to checkmyfares - please don't insult my intelligence by responding as you have done with others with your repetitive lies! You are scam artist and this message needs to be shared far and wide.

LOL at their fake positive reviews, the majority of them are no longer than 3 words and most of them do not make sense. Nice try, but those fake reviews aren't fooling any of us!

Unreliable (do not recommend)

Failed to notify us that our flights had changed. No reply from the company when we asked them for an explanation as to why they did not notify us. Horrible customer service.

Since there is no response to my email and calls, I am writing this for your earliest reply. I called Malaysia Airlines and they said my ticket was a ‘No Show’ in March 2020 even after confirmed with Mae and Ian for the change of my flight due to Covid-19. Can you please tell me the earliest flight in this month (April) with confirmed ticket reference number, please?. I need to get onto this flight to care for my sick mother. I booked a ticket last September 2019…

I booked a ticket last September 2019 and got cancelled due to COVID-19 and when I asked for a refund, which was last March 2020, they said it will took 12weeks to process so I've been expecting for it since they told me how will it take. And now, it's been a year still no refund you can't even contact them through their given landline numbers on their website and no one's replying to my email. It's so useless that they'll provide a contact number but you can't contact them. Lol never again

Don't ever use online travel agents.

Ditto what everyone else says.
Lets hope we all learn to never ever ever ever use online travel agents. The little bit you may save is just not worth it. Just buy your tickets from the airline itself. I am also dealing with another 2 overseas travel agents - nothing but lame excuses. Just say goodbye to the money and save yourself a visit to a mental hospital.

Booked airfares to Europe in Feb 2020, to date no refund.
Having worked 2 jobs pretty much 7 days a week for years in order to take my daughter on a holiday, it was bad enough having the trip cancelled.
Unfortunately this is where the nightmare started as Checkmyfares refuse to refund my money.
It has now adversely affected my health and this illegal activity must be stopped and people must have their money refunded.
I have written to Checkmyfares today and will inform you of the outcome.

Ref: CMF-2019-23934

Purchased three ticket in Oct 2019, got cancelled due to COVID-19. Has been 11 months and haven't received the refund. Sent emails either no responses or the same excuse: still on the reconciliation process. I contacted Japan Airline and was informed that the refund has been processed and the fund has been transferred to the agency a while ago. It's illegal to hold customers' refund. Do the right thing and refund my money!!!

Stalling on refunds

Like everyone else, I have been waiting for my refund for a year now and my airline confirmed they refunded the money back to Checkmyfares 6 months ago and even on a skeleton staff... this does not take that long to refund money that belongs to other people. Seems to me that this is nothing more than a stalling tactic as so many other companies have.
managed to pay back refunds in a timely manner. After reading everyones review here - its obvious we are not going to get our money back - I suggest everyone now go to the ACCC so they can start their investigations - its obvious they are holding a LOT of money that was refunded by the air lines and probably also getting job keeper payments too - its time to take action everyone...
