Stay away from Brit Box

Stay away from Brit Box. If you sign up for any of their promo plans and then late in canceling even by an hour, they will charge your credit card and will refuse to refund your payment. I suggest you either use Acorn or some other site for British shows or, sign up for a free plan and cancel the next day. You will still get your weeks worth of watching and the good thing, you can sign up again with a different email address and get another week for free. You can do this as many times as you want.

After cancelling subscription was…

After cancelling subscription was billed twice for fee,contacted customer service who informed me was unabld to refund me because subscription was via iTunes.Despite showing the proof that the subscription had been cancelled continued to take payments for a service I was not subscribed to!DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!!!!not worth the hassle

Worked for a short while but then had enough

Worked for a short while. I had a full subscription for a couple of months then noticed it would play an episode then crash and wouldn't play anything else. Kept saying "not connected to the Internet" when all other apps were working fine. Too much messing around to get it working again so cancelled subscription.

Signed for a trial this is absolutely…

Signed for a trial this is absolutely rubbish honestly couldn't find anything to watch films like 50 year old how they can charge for this, wouldn't keep it for free cancel it today and even when trying to watch it kept buffering and I have super fast broadband so not just joke if stuff on there even carnt watch if wanted to

Never works. It crashes and will hardly ever load on any TV. The people coding this should be sacked along with the people in charge!

APPALLING

I had an account with this company since it started. They then suddenly decided to tell me that my account had cancelled because they couldn't debit my card when I had funds. Their customer service staff were rude and uninterested and just told me that there mustn't have been monet in the account when there was. They later changed to saying it was because I hadn't entered my verified by Visa password which you don't do on recurring transactions. I checked with my bank and they hadn't even attempted to debit my account. I asked them to delete the account completely, then set up a new account, using a different card which had ample funds in and again, after the 7 day free trial, I got a message from them saying they couldn't debit my account. Again my bank confirmed no attempt had been made and that if they had attempted it, it would have been paid. I am leaving it cancelled this time as they are clearly not a very professional company.

Lost Annual Subscription

My daughter bought us Britbox on an annual plan as an anniversary gift. We saw shows for about a week. Then, every time we tried to access programs, nothing would play without a pay for viewing for each episode. This went on for months. Britbox told us we hadn't paid, and to start paying. We mentioned the anniversary gift subscription. They said they had no record of it. My daughter talked with them, and we were able to access Britbox programming again. Then, it stopped again. We contacted them in early November. It was the same run-around. They offered a one-month refund. The next day they rescinded it. Today, I found out they had been purchased by ITVX. We love the programming, (addicted), but not the customer service. I recommend customers seek other ways to get this programming. Als, don't get into a long-term subscription to protect your purse. We are considering ITVX which starts offering Brit programming in early December 2022.

Britbox/Chromecast conflict

I contacted Britbox 9 days ago regarding the issue of it no longer working with Chromecast. They replied promptly with this:

​"Really sorry to hear you are having some issues with casting.

We will pass this issue along to the tech team.

What details we need for escalation:
- When you first noticed this?
- Has the issue always been there or has it previously worked?
- Content affected? e.g. all content or specific shows?
- Chromecast model number?
- Phone/tablet make and model number?
- What is the software version of the device? e.g. IOS version or Android version?
- Google Home app version?
- BritBox app version?
- Do other streaming services work fine? e.g. iPlayer, netflix etc
- What are your network speeds? (link)
- Do you use a VPN(virtual private network)?
- Do you connect via wi-fi or mobile data?

I hope this helps, if not please get back in touch with the details above so that we can escalate this further."

I haven't replied as the long list of questions made me feel a bit like I'd been set a piece of homework! Am I being lazy by not trying to find out what's causing 'their' issue or is this really the only way they can determine the cause?

Britbox no longer casting via chromecast! Hasn’t worked for a week. Britbox ‘help’ say they’re aware of it; may be they should fix it instead of just being aware.

Avoid at All Costs: A Scam Company with dreadful customer service

Britbox took money from my account even though I never authorised them to do so. Unlike any reasonable company who would look into the matter, offer an apology and then a refund I've had to go via my bank who is conducting an investigation as Britbox say that fraud is nothing to do with them - even though they are the ones benefiting from stealing money from my account. Avoid at all costs

Now 6 days without Britbox!

Now 6 days without Britbox as it fails to cast to Chromecast. This problem has occurred previously on several occasions. Their website fails to mention any issues, which isn't helpful. Will not be renewing subscribing.

I am unable to cast Britbox via…

I am unable to cast Britbox via Chromecast this last week. I contacted Britbox and after doing all they suggested they have referred it to their tech department - that was 3 days ago and I've not heard from them since. This app has continual technical issues

Just awful

Just awful, the only streaming app that constantly buffers, it’s slow to load, it keeps logging me out then it says my password is incorrect when it isn’t . Almost unusable , it needs sorting otherwise it won’t have any subscribers.

Availed myself of a so called 7 Day…

Availed myself of a so called 7 Day Free Trial only to discover on the second day Britbox without my permission or knowledge accessed my bank via iTunes and removed £5.99 and that is THEFT!!
In addition the app which is about as useful as a chocolate fire screen will not cast shows to my Sony Bravia TV
Every other app YouTube etc casts without issue but this crap Britbox one displays this message “Chromecast Receiver failed to stream content”
There are no issues with my Chromecast and when I contacted their equally useless Customer Service some idiotic halfwit called Chris blamed everything but their app and as for removing my money illegally he said take it up with Apple or your Bank

AVOID THIS AWFUL PLATFORM AT ALL COSTS AS THEY ARE THIEVES!!! If you see the Free Trial don’t use it they will steal from your bank
The amount of Red One Star Reviews here just sums Britbox up and if I could give 0 Stars I would
