Ancestry has many records available to help in your research, although it is at the more expensive end of the market [and many records are only available with additional subscriptions]. The continual pushing of AI is irritating, and Ancestry has a habit of introducing "improvements" without warning - and with no recourse to go back to previous formats. Ancestry is a good starting point, but for people just starting out on their research journey I would say be very wary of accepting "hints" and other people's trees without double checking the accuracy of them. I have found it to be less helpful in research than it was a few years ago and the help section is not very helpful - especially the AI bot! Personally, I think Ancestry is less of a market leader than it was a few years ago, and would consider a different site if it was easier to transfer all my research over.

The information I needed was at my fingertips and I was able to confirm all the research my grandfather had done in the 1950s. I have been able to add more details and extend my family tree.

I like the additional records that are added frequently, this helps when you get stuck when searching for fine details. I am researching booth mine and my wife's history and have uncovered some interesting and unexpected facts. I have reached some dead ends, in particular my great grandfather who went to America and has seemed to Vanish!
I like the boat records as they have proved useful for tracing my grandfathers travels.
I think the membership fees are a little expensive, especially when a lot of records require addition fees like Newspapers and Fold 3 for military records. It is a bit frustrating when the details are there but you cannot see it unless you paid extra!
Overall I am happy with my membership, I like the hints feature and the DNA matches.

I had my DNA tested on Ancestry because I was trying to find who my father was. I was adopted and had already found my birth mother. She gave me details about my father; his name, age, ethnicity, but I just could not find him. I was about to give up and told myself that I would keep my subscription for one more month then that would be it. For my mental health, I had to give up my obsession to find him. Then, a few days later, up popped a match 2300cM with the same surname as my father. The rest, as they say, is history.

Ancestry makes it fun to discover the names of your ancestors, the layout is easy to follow and if you hae heard a bit about your family it is very easy to go back hundreds of years. I have researched my own family and that of my husband. Both families are traceable back to the 1500s

I find it interesting to look at my ancestors and discover family members I never knew . I really found it so fascinating when I did my DNA

It confirmed some of what I thought about my heritage. I live in Canada and found it difficult to send a kit to my sister in the US. I ended up doing it through Amazon

I have tried to use other sites where post marriage names take precedence over birth names. Save your sanity by taking Ancestry's line with this.
Unless you are a Nobel Prize winner for work on molecular biology, give thanks for Ancestry's high level DNA tools. Life is too short for attempts to understand what Haplogroup R-FTF92377 might mean.
I've been a member of 4 different genealogy sites but Ancestry has consistently given me the best results as well as being easy to use, and integrates well with Family Tree Maker.

The hints help but can be confusing at times. I haven't got a clue how to read or understand my DNA.

Sometimes I get hints that when I follow them bring some surprises. I really love being able to trace my family. I have always been curious about family since young.

I was overwhelmed to discover I was related to Royalty a few times! Your hints were great thank you!

Can be very good but also frustrating. Shows hints you have to pay for. More must be done to establish a one price service

Ease of use,Helpful hints,Always more to discover.
DNA results a little disappointing .Not Ancestry's fault : few DNA connectiond have family trees and DNA has revield no surprises or 'break-throughs'.
Being able to find family I did not know I had. When I started I had foir names on a piece of paper. Now I have around 25 A4 folders of information about my and my wiifes family. Not judt here in the uk but also in other countries.
I have discovered a lot about my ancestors which was totally unknown until I started my investigations.
Sadly I am unable to trace my PASH ancestors any earlier than a John Pash born in Honiton in 1738.
My ancestors started in Devon and then moved to London in about 1830 to run a Horse and Cab business.
Brilliant finds about out family ancestry it's just great when we find a match
